The Nokia N9 was hottly anticipated and yet, sadly, this illusive handset won't be widely available to the majority of you readers. Simply put, when we hold the Nokia N9 in our hands, we're holding a piece of history. MeeGo, the culmination of decades of Nokia mobile software development, is now offically canceled So why are we reviewing the Nokia N9?

I bought my Nokia N9 three weeks ago, notwithstanding all kinds of snide and sarcastic remarks and reviews. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. People say: "Nokia N9 ? Poor applications, dead operation system, blah, blah..."
All this evaporates once you begin playing with the toy. It is the simplest, sexiest and most user friendly phone. Period...
All my friends have iPhones and Samsung Galaxy S IIs. They paid a fortune to buy them. Nonsense !
I am not interested in billions of "fart-apps" or silly games !
What I need is a ligtning fast, stable, reliable, sturdy, user-friendly smartphone with all the high quality applications and social networks built in.
Moreover, Nokia N9 has a lovely "swipe" action. No other smartphone has it.
It is a pure joy to use this phone. You can easily customise it too.
All in all, I'm a satisfied customer and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
Don't be distracted by what others say. Follow your heart :)
You won't regret it at all...

Ah! ICS with this interface would rock.

So, some details about this piece of technology..... I have had this phone since December 2011. There is not much to say about this, but there are some things, that I think are important to know. The design of this N9 is just FABULOUS. I love the way you have the APPs, the way you are using them and the ''3 pages'' that are on the mobile. I love the fact that there is no bottoms to push all the time :-). The swipe technique works very good. Camera and pictures are just the best I have seen so far. It is better than the Samsungs G3 (I have one of those too). The battery is not the best the phone has. AND the OVI for N9 is just the biggest mistake ever made on this product. You want a smart phone to get all the APPs, and with N9, you can't really have all the things, not even some very used APPs :-(. This is the reason I will change this phone. I can't use a smart phone if I don't have the opportunity to use the smart everyday technology :-)

i imported an n9 from japan in april '13. It has now reached version 1,3 software and it's brilliant. Despite my worries about a 'dead' platform i love the whole UI. Unlike my iphone it effortlessly opens MS documents and flash files. Dont be fooled by all the early reviews of 2011 / 12. The two updates since then have debugged the software and now that it's ignored as a phone its really cheap! The camera is not a match for the n8 but then neither was iphone 5! The swipe interface is really intuitive and every other phone feels clumsy by comparison. come on nokia- dump microsoft!!!
