Nokia N8 vs Samsung Galaxy S

If a Clash of the Titans movie was to be made for the smartphone industry, it would certainly feature the Nokia N8 and the Samsung Galaxy S. These are the current cream-of-the-crop handsets of the world's largest and second-largest cell phone manufacturers. The Nokia N8 and Samsung Galaxy S might be the high road ...

reading through the review and the comments...i personally feel that although galaxy S is the winner in some points like the screen quality faster CPU etc. but i dont know why any one would pay more for getting these usual stuff rather than more hardware possibilities like a HDMI port for watching movies on your home theatre and a 12 mp camera to click better picture with xenon flash. more over how many formats do we play...does that even matter....both phones have readable quality in the sun so that also rules out...
i was actually confused about which of the two to buy but now am totally clear that what i want in my phone is hardware to perform more functions as software can be later updated and this leads me to n8.
and people you forgot the FM transmitter which is a useful feature in n8 and does a good job too...i nalready had it in n79 and its a life saver when you are on a long trip...and no songs to play in cd's,dvd's and pd's...
but what confuses me still is what are the future prospects with symbian 3^ as i have heard that nokia is going to tie up with microsoft for some software tweaks...will symbian 3^ be neglected then..??
just this confusion gets cleared and i'll own one of themm..

Hi, I have been following the discussion with a lot of enthusiasm and it is clear that both n8 and SGS have their loyal fans. But i need to know for certainly what it would be like using these phones for 6 months or say a year. How do these phone will withstand the constant use? which one will serve better with time regarding the build quality and other features. I heard SGS get scratched within days. Is that true? Some even says that the plastic used in SGS looks cheap and doesn't reflect the value for money. I hope i will get fair answers regarding this. One thing i give most importance while buying an expensive phone that how durable it is. I dropped phones occasionally (which is also true for many users) and usually stick with the phone for more than a year since in my country we don't get plans from network providers and must buy a phone unlocked which makes it difficult to change phone every year.
Thanks a lot and your valuable comments will be appreciated.

look.. the main difference is the internal hardware used. Try to disassemble those 2 phones and you will see how is Nokia superior (the speakers, connection supporting chips.. )
The only thing where Samsung rocks is his display.
About the OS: If are used to Symbian (from old good times of N95, N82 ...), you will never be satisfied with Android ! It is something totally different.
To Apps: There are not so many apps for N8 but who needs them ? I got everything I could need on my N8. You have to understand, the majority of apps in the droid store is to make money, not to offer some usable apps.

One cannot chose any one handset as an undisputed winner. But if we make a graph on, Price Vs. Features, N8 will score more. Man feature is it's 12 MP camera. Although I think it's finnish makers should have pay attention towards a better resolution for the secondory (front) camera to make it more snicky. M using both the mobiles, I can say in Indian market, N8 is a real revolution. Samsung somehow copies Apple (specially by looks & interface). N8 is a stand apart.

It really is a clash of the titans when it comes to these two... i guess it depends totally on what you as a user are looking for in a phone.

Galaxy is indeed a good phone, its look, fuction, applications etc, but we can't compare it with Nokia N8. N8 is user friendly, easy to maintain for along time, good cam resolution, sound, stronger... It has its sexy advantages over Galaxy...
