Nokia Lumia 710 Review
0. phoneArena posted on 04 Jan 2012, 23:02
Reinventing themselves, Nokia has a lot to overcome if they intend on being a major player in the US once again, but with Microsoft’s blessings, they seem poised to make a comeback. With that in mind, the Finnish company embarks on a new venture with its upcoming Nokia Lumia 710 for T-Mobile, which is priced competitively at $49.99 on-contract, but the question that remains unanswered is whether or not it’ll be a standout hit to garner some buzz...

Isn't "ClearBlack" an amoled screen? How does it have bad viewing angles! That would have been the only factor that made this phone decent. Oh well... T-Mobile should have got the Lumia 800.

ClearBlack is not a display type, rather its a screen technology which puts in an extra polarising layer over the display to avoid reflectance, thus increasing the depth of black and offering clear sunlight visibility. There is the ClearBlack AMOLED display found in the C6-01, E7 etc and the ClearBlack IPS TFT found in the Nokia 603,(ah well, I find the 710 as the twin of 603) , Nokia 701 and yeah, the 710. Good day!!

Wow thanks! I guess it just shows how little most Americans know about Nokia (and vice versa probably).

The HTC Vivid was rated as having poor viewing angles by PA but it was not bad at all in the store. PA also said that its screen was not very bright which was also inaccurate, in my opinion.
Read all the WP7 and Android reviews and take note about the tone of voice used. Compare it to the iphone reviews and you'll note a striking bias towards the iphone.
One example is the use of excuses when noting something bad about an iphone.
I went from WP7 to Android to see what it was all about, and b/c of the file explorer and Adobe flash. If WP7 added flash, a file explorer, and better multi tasking, it would be a fantastic phone. The design is elegant, beautiful, and simple to use.

And they are also bias to Samsung too .
See the gs2 review compare to sensation xe

so i hear all this about how pretty wp7 is and yet none of these screenshots do anything to pique my interest... but i guess that goes to how wp7 is "competing more with iphone than with android"

It doesn't need to compete with something it's better than. ZING!

So your saying the Nokia Lumia 710 is better than iphone?

After using androids and breifly going through iphones, I raealy grew bland, even with my beloved androids. Although I really love the customizeable aspect of androids, I still really want to try out WM7 which ILikeBubbles didnt like...seems great to me; probaly cause i dint try it before

Admittedly it looks boring on the computer. But if you use it in person it's quite an immersive experience.

It puzzles me why Nokia chose to use an ordinary TFT display with Lumia 710, but used a higher quality and very bright IPS LCD on the 701 and even the 603, which run Symbian and are even cheaper...I'm fine with the design, it looks quite good, but it could be a tad thinner and maybe do with some metal...I wouldn't call it "boring" especially with the interchangeable rear covers. Well I don't mind the omission of a front-facing camera, I only tried video calling once with my current smartphone and would never use it again.

I think I am going to go w the radar on my value plan and get it this weekend with tmobile sale plus theres still offering another 100 back through the 10th if you trade in another phone any working phone. I just read where the htc radars camera flash works up to 10 feet away as well & that is one of the impt features to me.. So I think that seals the deal for me.. And I thought I was all set on the Nokia!
But with the reviews coming in overall it's not more compelling then the htc Radar afterall!..

Now, who the hell is going to choose this over the HTC Radar??? The design looks absolutely horrible

if i had to chose one over the other, id chose the nokia over the HTC
1) nokia's navigation is the best navigation availible on WP7 right now... and its free, works in offline, ect ect ect.
2) i sell the darn things and i still see very little use out of video calling so its not important to me.
3) 1.4ghz processor > 1 ghz
4) They are both "entry level" devices so why pay $50 more for the HTC brand name and a slightly nicer design when the Nokia actually gives you more for less?
5) nokia only apps. It can do everything the HTC can do and yet more.

I sell for TMo too. I am a huge HTC fan (well before their monotony recently) and I am getting the 710. I will post my opinion on it as it is being given to me. I love Nokia as well and there are some huge selling points of that over the Radar.

i was offered to champion it, but turned it down as i need my wifi tethering too much for school. Won the HD7 before as well which was pretty nice. Let us know how u like it after putting it through its paces.
