Motorola DROID, Apple iPhone 3GS and Palm Pre: side by side
Phones can only go far solely relying on good looks, but the underlying platform that’s powering the handset behind the scene can make all the difference. Already into its third generation device, Apple for the most part kept its user interface unchanged while the increase in horsepower under the hood makes for an intuitive experience. One thing that really stands out with the iPhone 3GS is the lack of personalization – so pretty much every phone looks exactly the same with its grid-like setup of icons. In addition to not being able to run multiple applications, it becomes a bit monotonous having to go back to the home screen and switch between apps. On the other hand, its static look makes for the most responsive experience navigating on any of the phones. Looking up contacts is quite a breeze thanks to Spotlight which can be accessed by moving to the left most menu. From there, you can simply start typing something and a list is brought up with the associated contact or application.
Palm took the user experience to a new level and added some visual flare with WebOS. Switching between applications is such a breeze, not to mention fun as well, with its layout of cards that can be rearranged to your specific liking. Other than being able to modify the homescreen wallpaper, there is very little in the way of personalizing your handset. Even with all the nice graphical eye candy of moving between cards, it still manages to run smooth for the most part. Palm implemented Synergy to integrate your standard contacts with Google, Facebook, Microsoft Exchange, LinkedIn, and Yahoo. We like how Synergy is able to figure out your contacts without the aid of the user having to manually associate all your accounts. With its universal search function, one can simply type on the QWERTY and a list of possible matches will begin to populate.
Android has proven itself in being the king when it comes to creating a slick looking interface. Being able to use various personalized applications instead of the stock ones is definitely worth noting here. Add in the fact that there are three homescreens to personalize to your liking, we know there’s an almost limitless way of making it your own. It might not have the iPhone 3GS’s fluid interface or WebOS’s ingenious switching between apps; the Motorola DROID manages to share everything we like about both of those platforms with Android 2.0. Similar to the Palm Pre, there is a universal search function that enables users to use the physical QWERTY to search the handset for just about everything – these include contacts, applications, bookmarks, and Google searches.
All three platforms make setting an appointment in your calendar a breeze – you’ll be able to view it in either a daily, weekly, or monthly view. It’s no surprise that the Palm Pre takes top honors in being able to immerse the user in a new fancy way of multi-tasking between applications. If speed is your kind of thing, then the iPhone 3GS will enthrall you with its lightning quick reflexes in opening and running programs. Then there’s the Motorola DROID which takes personalization to a new level in its dynamic depth of personalizing options.

why do any comparisons at all the last two i looked at did not come to a complete conclusion. I can compare a 1985 mustang and a 2006 tacoma and tell you what i think is better. It does not matter what or when they came compare how it is today its easy.
2. MarcMaiden (Posts: 25; Member since: 24 Nov 2009)
cool comparison Phone Arena... I think its better to stay neutral because these phones are so similar that picking a phone would be just like playing favorites

playing favorites you say? and look who won....

overall not a bad review. They tried to stick to the facts. Only getting lost in the Iphone 2-3 times. However, at the end They awarded the Iphone the Multimedia phone. Which i would very much disagree with. Itunes is the worst Music program, a open system with the ability to play any music file type is far superior. Plus, during the review the droid got more praise for its video player and options(this is still considered multimedia right?). Also, the droid received credit for having the best speaker, which i feel is very much in the multimedia area. When comparing the cameras, phoneareana failed to mention that the Droid has a nice LED flash. Now, I have not had a problem being able to find the app i'm looking for in the android market. 50,000 or 100,000 it doesn't much matter at that point, everything after that is a duplicate anyway, and all the new intuitive apps will more than likely be releasing on android because of apples strict filters on their app store. Now I have reviewed the review. And I think the droid has surpassed the Iphone in nearly every way. The only thing left is opinion, which for the most part can not be changed. but facts are facts, and they seam to stack up in the droids favor.

Are you kidding...... The droid is no where near a better phone than the Iphone...c'mon, you dont even believe that yourself.
9. tonyc_42 (Posts: 61; Member since: 18 Aug 2009)
you so it's not a better PHONE??? how can you say it's not a better phone when it doesn't have the dropped calls or service issues. iphone may be a better multimedia device (for now...) but the clear winner as a phone is the droid.

the droid is wayyyy better than the iphone.

It looked like the iphone won to me. The droid is great but you guys are getting ahead of yourselves. How many iphone killers are there going to be! Part of me is just hoping that a phone comes out of nowhere and beats the iphone so we can get this over with. I mean some of you guys even called the Storm an iphone killer. Come on. Verizon is probably already preparing for their next Android device. And based on the pictures taken, I'd say the iphone's picture quality look the best. Just look at the color of the pictures, even in low light. And if a developer had to choose between developing for Android or Apple, they would go for Apple because there are so many iPod touches and iPhones that are out there and growing everyday around the world. And one thing that they like is the uniformity. If you develop for one, most likely it will work for every single one out there. You can't say that for Android. Some graphic intense games on the Droid (if there are any) probably won't work for the Eris and the G1. Take Gameloft for an example. Although they receive 13% of their profits from Android, it probably costs them more to pay their laborers to convert each of their games to work with each Android device. (That has to be the reason why they are not making any more apps for Android because I don't see why Gameloft would drop that 13% of profit) And I hear that Android won't only make smartphones because they want all phone users to be able to customize. That's tears up the uniformity even more. And everyone keeps on saying that the Android app store will grow and grow very soon. But sadly, that's the same exact thing the Pre owners were saying. And I guess I can stop talking about how bad the iPhone's battery life is because it looks like it is much better than the Pre's and Droid's. And they didn't emphasize how bad the keyboard sucked. On the Droid website it boasted about having the thinnest keyboard in the world, but it stinks really. It probably would have even helped them out if they made it a little bit more thicker. And after two years the iphone still has the best online keyboard and easy to use interface? Really? Still? And everyone keeps complaining that its outdated. If these phones can't beat an outdated phone, then that makes everything even more sad. And its a good thing that the Droid users have removeable battery because I'm reading that removing the battery often to fix problems is not uncommon. And is backgrounds really featured on the Android Market? More than a year later and backgrounds is featured on their market? That app is so done now. I wouldn't call it useless, but its bordering that area.

There we go. I reviewed the reviewed review.
26. smartphonelover (Posts: 36; Member since: 26 Nov 2009)
The Iphone doesn't have the high specs that the droid and the droid is also on Verizon It's like comparing an off the line Ford Mustang to an off the line Dodge Challenger. The challenger is gonna win cause of specs are just better and plus with the Iphone on AT@T network it's like the mustang will lose spark at random times lol, stupid metaphors Iphoneluv just except it, the Iphone is beaten this time by the droid. Plus if Verizon gets the Palm Pre next year like rumored then Verizon will have two Iphone challengers, and with the htc dragon/passion that means Verizon will have at least 3 Iphone challengers. Meaning Verizon will definitely draw a lot of attention from AT&T and the Iphone
30. Quemical (Posts: 162; Member since: 14 Jul 2009)
Well said smartphonelover. The Droid is the clear winner, without question. So iphoners, when's your next Droid killer coming out? DROID FTW
31. E.N. (Posts: 2561; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
Since when has anyone cared about the high specs of the iPhone? That's not why so many people like it. But I'm pretty confused why the iPhone renders web pages faster while the Droid falls behind the Pre, even with the highest specs. And why does the Picture quality not look as good as the iPhone or even the pre? Go specs!
32. vzwman (Posts: 385; Member since: 26 Oct 2009)
all you iphone lovers got it all wrong the droid is not an iphone killer but it is an iphone competitor
33. vzwman (Posts: 385; Member since: 26 Oct 2009)
E.N. im sorry to say that your full of crap you obviously dont know squat about the performance any of the three smartphones mentioned in this article
36. vzwman (Posts: 385; Member since: 26 Oct 2009)
i own 2 droids my brother has an iphone 3gs and a friend of mine owns a pre from sprint oh and not to mention my droid eris NIB havent opened it yet
38. E.N. (Posts: 2561; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
Okay? What does that prove. You know a lot of people with phones. I'm happy for you. That doesn't mean you know more. You probably still think that the web browsing on the Droid is better than the iPhone. And why would you have two droids and an Eris?
40. Quemical (Posts: 162; Member since: 14 Jul 2009)
"But I'm pretty confused why the iPhone renders web pages faster while the Droid falls behind the Pre, even with the highest specs. And why does the Picture quality not look as good as the iPhone or even the pre? Go specs!" Are you KIDDING ME? As far as rendering, CDMA 3G and THE FASTEST PROCCESSOR AVAILABLE + webkit = PWNGE, have fun surfing on GSM! PICTURE QUALITY????? Do you know anything about the DROID???? How about 720p Bluray video on my Droid, I just compared to my brothers Iphone and its not even close!!! Its sad really how much you are in denial. You could make an argument for speed but picture? Thats just being woefully ignorant.
41. E.N. (Posts: 2561; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
Go back and read the review. Look at the video of the web browsers and tell me which is better of the three phones. Look at what phonearena wrote inregards to speed and data rendering. Look at the pictures phonearena took and then come back and we'll see what else you can scream about. It's not like I made this up what I said out of nowhere. And again you're throwing out specs that I dont really care about. All I know is that the pictures taken by phonearena on the iPhone 3GS looks better than the Droids. (We all know that the Droid's video quality is superior. I was talking about the photo camera.) Everything I jsut said came out of this review. So if you're going to get mad, get mad at the information and video posted. The Droid has two processors and that's the best it could do with web browsing? Please point out what else I said that was incorrect.
43. vzwman (Posts: 385; Member since: 26 Oct 2009)
I own two droids cuz of the simple fact that it's an awesome phone (one is mine and the other my wife's duhh) and the Eris is just to add to my collection -lg dare -lg voyager -lg env touch -blackberry storm -samsung omnia -2 motodroids -and last but not least HTC droid Eris
56. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
your fanboyism doesnt change the fact that the iphone is pretty much the same as it has been for 3 years. it is outdated and old. its been replaced my Android handsets left and right that can do more, better.
59. Sniggly (Posts: 7280; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Okay, Sparky (E.N.), let's review your review of the review of the review. 1. There have been exactly TWO "Iphone killers" Verizon has released. One was the Blackberry Storm (which was FAIL, admittedly) and now the Droid. As fast as the Droid is selling, and considering that as dead as my store is I've already sold two (and seen plenty more go to the direct store down the street to buy it) I'd say we have a winner here. Add to this that the Droid, unlike the Storm, has had ZERO performance crippling bugs and very few returns relative to the Storm, that's saying quite a lot. 2. yes, Verizon is working on more Android devices, but they're all more "budget" phones so far. 3. You obviously haven't fact checked before spouting off your predictions about the app market. The Android app market has doubled in size since the DROID premiered, from 10,000 to 20,000 apps. This puts it at roughly a fifth of the size of the Apple market, which has been around for THREE YEARS. The picture quality at good light levels on the Droid were the best looking out of the three. And the video quality on the Droid is excellent. 4. Your statement that "13 percent of Gameloft's profits come from Android" followed by the statement that they lose that profit paying people to convert apps is demonstrably stupid because it reveals your absolute ignorance of economic terms. PROFIT is the money you have left over AFTER costs, INCLUDING costs of labor for any app conversion. So that 13 percent is perfectly intact. Also, since the battery is usually the first thing to die on any phone, it's a good thing that the Droid has a removable one, because you don't have to throw the phone away and get a new one when the cells blow on it. So, E.N., you're obviously totally biased in favor of the Iphone. I sell Verizon products, and I'm not afraid to admit the Iphone would be a cool addition to our lineup. It's a good phone, it works well, most people love it. But the Droid is King, and it's coming to claim its throne.
60. haste_the_day (Posts: 5; Member since: 27 Dec 2009)
@ E.N. - Not to mention that rendering pages on a smartphone work off the processor speed as well as the network connected to it. Beat, and beat. And if you have anything to show otherwise as far as specs, please, post them, bc i have yet to see anything showing otherwise.
62. DonkeyPunched (Posts: 321; Member since: 10 Jan 2010)
LMAO I like seeing you verizon fanboys get all crazy. It's hilarious. By far, Verizon is the most communist company out of all four of the major ones. Yea, their coverage is definitely great, by far, but their customer service is complete crap. And they just doubled their cancellation fees? Ridiculous. I'd rather use Sprint if you wanna say CDMA is better. Plus where do you all live anyway? Whenever I have a problem with reception with AT&T, everyone else has reception problems with every other service (why did I pick friends who I can't get mobile to mobile with...) AND, I love being able to use all the foreign phones that CDMA users can't use. 80% of the world is GSM, not CDMA, so suck it. But anyways, phone wise, I will say the Droid is a great phone as well, so I'm not gonna try to hate on it much, but I can't get over the iPhone, along with the majority of users that use iPhones. I absolutely see no reason to switch to a Droid. And sorry, I'm just gonna leave the Pre out of the game because we can all agree right now it just can't compete yet till it starts updating and making a better variety of hardware. To clarify, I'm probably like most of the commenters on here. I have something different from what everyone uses. When the first iPhone came out, I bought it and was so happy. Now that everyone has an iPhone, it turned me off. I currently do not use the iPhone because I wanted a phone no one else would have, so I bought the LG Crystal and I'm actually satisfied right now. Just to clear this too, iPhone pictures kick ass. People can say "oh droid has more megapixels." I have found the more megapixels, the crappier they look, out of experience. And no one wants a big crappy picture. iPhone apps win hands down. Yes, there are pointless apps, but they literally do have an app for everyone. I'm fed up of people trying to hate on it. No matter what, the facts stand out and show the Apple App Store definitely wins. At least for now... Biggest standpoint, the syncing. Someone said iTunes is the worst program. WTF are they talking about? Browsing, syncing, updating, ect., is amazing. Go ask people about what Android syncs with and I'm sure most won't answer that. Apple was smart to include their music service to their phone because everyone and their mom already owns an iPod. Docking the iPhone is even easier because it can hook up to many iPod things such as alarm clocks, car stereos, rechargeable batteries, ect. I'm more likely to find a way to charge or play with my iPhone at someone else's place rather than a Droid. Also, I hate the Droid keyboard. I will say, I wish an iPhone would come out with a keyboard, but the Droid's keyboard definitely didn't cut it. It feels so cheap and crappy. Watching CES, I actually think the backflip looks good. I think the Milestone will be pretty awesome too, but honestly, I think I don't want my phone to look so sophisticated because I'll freak out about the scratches every second of the day, but ANYWAYS... I am open to every OS I'll say. I love the customization you can do on the Droid, multitasking, and the thing you do when you bring the top bar down and see notifications. That's pretty awesome. I mean, I probably could jailbreak an iPhone and do that, but I prefer not to do that...Apple is communist too at times :] Overall...I just can't wait for the next iPhone. I'm hoping for them to shut everyone up for another 2 years.
5. dsg_cobra (Posts: 35; Member since: 25 Nov 2009)
where was the comparison with coverage? i was at the hospital yesterday and it was hilarious my uncle asked to see my droid so he could search on the internet, while he did that i was playing with his iphone and couldnt do nothing but play one of his games he already had. droid wins by a mile, i guess by balance they meant 80% opinion
6. Iphoneluv (Posts: 59; Member since: 13 Nov 2009)
Iphone rules!! The pre, droid and anything else that comes out unless it is the 4th gen Iphone will continue to fall short.......Iphoneluv Out!!
8. rockstar323 (Posts: 20; Member since: 15 Jan 2009)
I've owned all 3 phones, and the Droid is by far the superior device. lol @ 4th gen iPhone, all they will add to it is maybe a flash for the camera and maybe some new colors.
10. Literati (Posts: 17; Member since: 22 Oct 2009)
rockstar323, you can't fix stupid. Let this guy continue to live in his time vortex.
27. smartphonelover (Posts: 36; Member since: 26 Nov 2009)
The Iphone's interface just makes me feel stupid. The Droid or the Pre actually makes you think a little instead of going through a boring interface that's simple enough for a toddler. It kinda bores me, if everything was like the Iphone's interface then I'd just try to learn how to hack the device and make it more complex to use.
12. vzw fanman (Posts: 1974; Member since: 11 Dec 2008)
i thought it was a great phone comparison, phonearena team.
35. E.N. (Posts: 2561; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
I agree. Keeping it neutral is the best way to go.
15. Iphoneluv (Posts: 59; Member since: 13 Nov 2009)
You can keep trying to hype the droid vzwmam bit the facts are facts. Iphone is hands down the best mulimedia device and PHONE on the market period.... Read the articles on consumer reports, phone scoop, and many more. The droid is nice but an iphone killer............................................................................................. ............. It AINT...
18. vzw fanman (Posts: 1974; Member since: 11 Dec 2008)
the iphone is old news! it is no longer a trendy phone and it has lost it's wow factor. so i'm sorry anyone that owns an iphone is officially uncool. :-)
21. E.N. (Posts: 2561; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
I don't think its lost anything. People are still buying the iPhone 3G let alone the 3GS. Go on ebay right now and you'll see pre-owned iphone as a featured item. The iphone has probably been a featured item on ebay for the last two years straight. I just randomly went on right to see if its still there and what do you know....It's on there. Go to CNN or ABC, which has millions of viewers, and you'll see them advertising their app on the iphone. Even pizza hut advertises their iphone app. I'm sorry man, but the iphone is not leaving anytime soon. Its funny because I was watching ABC News and they were talking about if the Droid was the next iphone killer. After watching the segment (where no conclusion of which phone was better was made..........like everyone does) a commercial came on and it was ABC advertising their iphone app. I laughed so hard when I watched that. Is the droid the really better than the iphone? You decide. Buy our app now from the app store and get live updates, videos, blah blah blah. lol
37. vzw fanman (Posts: 1974; Member since: 11 Dec 2008)
i'm just saying it has lost its wow factor. if you had an iphone any time within the first year of its launch, it still had its wow factor. but now, i wouldn't buy an iphone again because it's out of date imo. and again, when i see people over 20 pull out their iphone, i'm like, really? it's like an adult playing with action figures. but oh well... and the droid's keyboard is perfect, i have no compaints. i think the droid's keyboard is better than my old voyager. but whatever floats your boat EN. :-)
39. E.N. (Posts: 2561; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
A lot if people really hate the iPhone and that's just simply how they kook at things. I mean what's o childish about having this phone? So having a flip phone isn't childish but having the iPhone which has much more functionality is? I just don't understand. You're probably just tired if the iPhone and that's pretty understandable. What I'm tired of is everyone calling every touch phone that comes out an iPhone killer. Does the Droid have to kill the iPhone to be a good phone. And people are already calling the HD2 iPhone killers. It's annoying. And it's also annoying how so many phones jock the iPhone. Have you seen Droid's latest commercial? It's exactly like the iPhone commercials. Instead there is a black background with wires and circuits and whatever and instead of seeing a man's hand going showing the phone, you have a robot finger.
44. vzw fanman (Posts: 1974; Member since: 11 Dec 2008)
you said you've had the iphone since it came out? aren't you bored with it yet? even if you think it's great, you still never get bored with a phone that has barely changed?
48. E.N. (Posts: 2561; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
What is with this change stuff. The iPhone has been changing since day 1. It looks the same and the UI is the same. And that's about it. Their music player gets better with every update, the phone is even faster, they updated their camera, up to 32 gig of internal memory now, the web browser is still the best but they still add little features here and there, the app store is still the best and growing, the touch screen is still the best (which I think is sad after 2 years). Like i've said before, the only feature I want now is multitasking and then I'm set. And if I find a better phone than the iPhone, I would buy it. That's why I am always reading reviews, watching videos, and checking out phones in stores. But people are different. Some people want keyboards and some don't. Some people want removeable batteries but I don't think it's that important to Apple since most people don't even buy an extra one. And I think it's great that Verizon includes a 16 gig memory card with some of their phones. And again, thank Apple for that. A year and a half ago I would have to shell out big bucks for a Verizon 2gig (or maybe it was 4gig) memory card for my phone, and now they include a $100 item for free? Woah
49. vzw fanman (Posts: 1974; Member since: 11 Dec 2008)
so are you saying the cell company you choose is based on the phone you want? it may be the best phone to you, but again, you aren't bored with it?
51. E.N. (Posts: 2561; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
Yup. I would still be in Verizon if the iPhone was there. And I don't really care about call quality and such because I hardly talk on the phone. I'm always emailing, web browsing, texting, etc. Plus AT&T and Verizon are identical in my area, so "there's a map for that commercial doesn't really apply to me." And Verizon was getting on my nerves with all the random features that I never added that kept appearing on my bill. So I wasn't exactly crying when I left. And no, I'm not bored with it. It's kind of hard to get bored with this phone.
52. vzw fanman (Posts: 1974; Member since: 11 Dec 2008)
ha ya, i don't talk on my phone much either. well en i am happy you are satisified with your iphone. even though the droid is awesome, i will prolly get something newer and better in a year or so. i went from a pocket pc, a few dumbphones, to blackberry, to android, what's next.
57. jdawg183 (Posts: 1; Member since: 06 Dec 2009)
"So having a flip phone isn't childish but having the iPhone which has much more functionality is?" Oh my, I just had to laugh at that. The iPhone does not have much functionality at all. It allows others to add functionality, but does not include much by itself. But if you want to count what the apps allow you to do fine. Your phone can fart on command. Congratulations to you. Excuse me while I listen to music and browse through the files on my phone. Maybe make a reg edit or two just for the heck of it.
63. DonkeyPunched (Posts: 321; Member since: 10 Jan 2010)
Majority of the iPhone users are saying the same thing about you...and thats about 90% to 10%. So actually majority says you're uncool :]

Iphoneluv.....stop honestly dude i work for AT&T and i had the iphone and it blows dude honestly i mean an expensive phone with no tru multi-tasking i mean come on...i know why u love the iphone because its a kids phone and ur 12...but when u grow up and become a man opr woman w/e then ull realize iphone = garbage...i have a pre honestly i love it great phone and ive played with the droid and i can honestly say both of those phones sh*t on the Iphone...Android and WebOS are the best OS out there right now APPLE is failing unless they revamp there entire phone and just stop prettying up the same tired old phone...Im out...
17. Iphoneluv (Posts: 59; Member since: 13 Nov 2009)
12....?.? Dude please ur not worth my time... You have a freakin pre......... Enough said. Did your mom buy that for you? Get a real phone and then write back. How can you talk when you have a liile kid phone in a big boy league....Iphoneluv Out!!
20. E.N. (Posts: 2561; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
You're putting up a pretty lame argument. First it was copy and paste (which was a legit complaint). Then it was MMS (but most people don't even use that!). And now its multitasking. the iphone does need multitasking, but I think the people who hate the iphone now will hate it no matter what. So it doesn't matter what Apple adds.
28. smartphonelover (Posts: 36; Member since: 26 Nov 2009)
Iphoneluv just face it the Iphone lost. There's only two people commenting that the Iphone rules and you are just basically saying it rules cause you said so without stating the facts why (kinda like what a little kid would do). How about acting like an adult in an adult conversation and stating specs or whatever that might support why it's better.
46. eltimbalero1019 (unregistered)
no actually i bought it with my own money that i saved from moving to sprint something you will never do since u pay double the amount of what i pay and the pre is better than the iphone...now dont get me wrong i never said it was a bad phone cause it works for some people and they are happy but for me i need COPY and PATSE and tru did i meation tru multi-tasking...so u can keep ur phone and ill keep my phone and we both be happy...but i will honestly say ur going on with a less than mediocre cmpny
47. E.N. (Posts: 2561; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
What you were saying was lame. "i know why u love the iphone because its a kids phone and ur 12" - dumb "APPLE is failing unless they revamp there entire phone and just stop prettying up the same tired old phone" -Do you think that Apple themselves, the general public, and all other phone companies they are competing against think they are failing? I don't think so. Uniformity is actually their greatest strength. Just because the phone and the UI looks the same doesn't mean that it hasn't changed. Really, the only thing it's lacking is multitasking. And what your phone is lacking is a better application store And I don't know if you know, buy the iPhone has copy and paste now. And Android can customize. We get it.

Dude calm down Clearly everyone here knows how you're in love with the iPhone but you don't need to bash on other people's technology because they said something mean about yours what is this middle school? I've used all these phones and all of them are great but with the rate android/ webOS is progressing they are going to overtake apple in no time unless apple steps it up and introduces some new technology and gets it on a carrier that actually works everywhere without as many problems as at&t.

I saw "Between the three, the iPhone 3GS has the brightest screen – which can cause you to squint if you view it in complete darkness." under Design in the first page. Are you serious? lol

"When it comes to speaker phone use, we can’t help but cover our ears to the DROID’s powerful tones." -what's the difference

I just like the iPhone for its apps and smooth touch sensitivity. The browsing on this thing is just sooooooo amazing seriously. Nothing beats iphone in those two categories. Oh, and don't forget the media player. I just don't own an iPhone because so many people own it and I hate the way it looks. Droid looks a bit slow and the touch sensitivity doesn't seem so nice. I don't find Droid that interesting honestly. Pre just has the nice OS. Thats pretty much it for Pre I think. I'm just waiting for HD2.

I think they could've done better with this review. The picture in the low light taken with the droid looked like to me that they didn't use flash. I've seen pictures taken buy the droid in low light with flash and it turned out a lot better. Also the Iphone does seem to have maybe the best looking interface on music but it seemed like to me that the droid had a better looking interface on video playback. Plus the Droid plays videos clearer then the Iphone. The Droid is able to connect to a computer and you can easily add or remove items, so it's better then having to use Itunes and not being able to take music or video off the Iphone to store onto another computer. For multimedia I think the Droid beats the Iphone easily with better video playback, it's easy transferring items to and from a computer, and Droid has an expandable memory slot. I am disappointed how phonearena didn't include the phones network coverage but that's probably because everybody already knows that the Iphone would lose in that category just like it lost in several others. Tisk tisk. Oh and btw the Droids replaceable battery is a big advantage over the Iphone cause you can swap batteries at any time. By having a spare battery with you you can have the Droid lasting longer then the Iphone ever could.

I own a Droid and love it. I also own an Ipod Touch and love it as well. I don't hate the Iphone at all and feel both phones do everything equally well. The real question here that wasn't even addressed in the review is service!! I travel to rural areas frequently and need to have service. AT&T's network sucks compared to Verizon....period! I'd have had an Iphone 3 years ago if it would have been on Verizon's awesome network. Can you imagine how many Iphones would be out there had Verizon and Apple come together? AT&T would be out of business had the egos of these two giants been put aside 4-5 years ago!! The same may be said for some phone manufacturers such as RIM and Motorola had the Iphone been on Verizon's network from the beginning! Here's to hoping VZW and Apple come together on a 4G Iphone for LTE!! Can you say, Time to buy fruit and gum (Big Red) stock!! Just my thoughts.
