In addition to the Laptop Dock that’s available for the Motorola ATRIX 4G, there is also an HD Multimedia Dock that converts any high-definition television set into some sort of mini desktop PC. Now this isn’t your ordinary dock that will make your handset look pretty while charging up its battery, it’s actually something much more engaging...

Does the dock have sound output? i do see a 3.5mm jack in the pic which is not very clear..if it does, i can connect it to my amp and have great music all around...

@Kannan99 - You can get the audio output from the HDMI along with the hi-def video OR u could plug in a 3.5mm jack and connect it to ur amp.

do you have to have the tethering plan with the dock?

I bought the lapdock and now I am thinking that I should have purchased the multimedia dock instead. It seems to allow you to have the same viewing options as the lapdock except you can also tape from your tv and work on the TV or other hd computer screens. Question. Wityh the Multi dock will you be able to switch screens to access your own laptops other applications? If so, will it be split screen or toggling by opening and closing a new window? I want work with contacts and make notes to my outlook while talking on the phone.Possible?

what if you just connect to an HDMI tv with the supplied cord into the atrix without the doc?

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed that this nifty dock doesn't appear to lend itself to interface with my desktop computer's file system. It would be so nice to be able to slip my Atrix into the dock and have its data drive mount to my PC's file system for transfer, editing and file management tasks. I'm unsure why Motorola didn't incorporate this provision into this dock since sharing files between smartphones and computers is a popular thing to do these days. It would seem a no brainer for Moto to have provided this capability with this dock.
Granted, it's not much trouble to use the supplied USB data transfer cable by simply plugging it into the phone's micro-USB port and into the computer's USB port. But it would have been so slick to just drop the phone into the dock and have it linked up for file management while it was charging. I can't imagine why they left this function out.
Aside from that issue it's pretty cool.
