LG Thrill 4G ReviewLG Thrill 4G 8
With its demanding 3D features, there’s a 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP4 processor with 512MB of dual-channel memory toiling away internally to provide the horsepower needed to get this beast running smoothly. Displaying an instantaneous response with most functions, there’s absolutely nothing that this handset can’t execute smoothly.
However, we’re bummed by the fact that it’s still running Android 2.2.2 Froyo from the onset. Nevertheless, that doesn't take away from the overall platform experience as it runs the same customized interface we’ve been seeing used by other recent Android powered smartphones from LG’s camp. And unlike the HTC EVO 3D, the LG Thrill 4G manages to offer a totally separate 3D interface to showboat its stuff – and it’s definitely a nice addition! If you want to learn more about the handset’s functionality and interface, please check out our in-depth review of the LG Optimus 3D.
Messaging on the 4.3-inch screen is a breeze with plenty of space for the buttons, so your fingers can type essays worth of text free of errors. That won't protect you from misspelled words, though, as by default the spell checker is turned off. Threaded conversations are also supported, while for emails you get LG's own simplistic interface.
Being an AT&T bound smartphone and all, it’s naturally packed with the usual suspect of AT&T branded apps – like Live TV, myAT&T, AT&T Code Scanner, AT&T FamilyMap, and AT&T Navigator. As for other preloaded third party apps, they include Amazon Kindle, Qik Lite, YPmobile, Polaris Office, Asphalt 5, Nova, and Lets Golf 2.

I agree. It is coming out way too late. I was really interested in it a few months back. Not for it's 3d capabilities. But rather the Ti Dual core processor, and the dual channel ram. I still think this is going to be a decent device, but I think the old saying "timing is everything" really applies here.

This phone has amazing build quality and amazing screen clarity. It also has a seious software flaw and it bricks itself after x number of power cycles. Im on number two in 48 hours. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!! It great while it works, but google LG Thrill bricking and you'll find a mess of complaints. Oh, and battery life sux. Best option thus far is the Atrix or Inspire. Good luck, buyer beware.

I've had this phone for 3 days now and no problems besides user error, haha. Not sure what the person's problem with bricking is...is it rooted? if not it could just be a bad phone, as someone that sells cells I see it all the time when we just get a bad phone or two in... sad to say but it happens...
The phone itself is great, being someone that jumped the apple ship to Android there are a vast number of better features than the iPhone, and this phone is more advanced than the next iPhone could possibly be...
Also, the processor ROX! Never seen a phone this fast...

The first 3D phone in the world and has finally popped up in the USA! The LG Thrill(Optimus 3D) is packing some serious power and a high quality 3D screen.
This phone should appeal to anyone that likes 3D and video games. The glasses free 3D screen looks great in 2D and 3D. It is very similar in quality to the 3DS but larger and higher resolution.
Compared to the HTC EVO 3D, the Thrill has the edge in the 3D and CPU department. Benchmark tests show the Thrill as a top performer, Everything runs fast and games are very smooth. The Thrill screen produces a good 3D image with plenty of depth and a decent viewing angle, just like the 3DS.
LG baked in some really nice 3D features and games that the competition is lacking. The LG "3D Space" app is a really cool 3D menu that nicely organizes all of the 3D content.
Three Free 3D games (NOVA, Golf, Asphalt 6) and a 3D book are preloaded on the Thrill, along with a number of 3D movie trailers and clips. The Thrill appears to support more 3D games than the EVO 3D at this time with about a dozen available. Many of the 3D games have a 3D slider that allows you to adjust the effect. Expect a good amount of added depth with the 3D games, All of the Gameloft 3D games are 99 Cents each when purchased through the "3D Games" App that is preloaded.
2D/3D Camera does a decent job, although appears a bit dark in all but the brightest light and lacks a shutter button, I hope LG will allow the 3D button to work as camera shutter button in future update.
Youtube 3D is the killer app for this device. Tons of free 3D is available on Youtube, Search 'YT3D' on Youtube to view all 3D videos.
Gingerbread update is coming in October, along with LG's 3D game converter which will add 3D support for about 40 more games!
Bottom line: Better 3D experience than the competition. LG - Please make a glasses free tablet!
