LG Rumor2 Review
Performance:

The Rumor 2 got good reviews from callers, who rated us an 8.5/10.  It was just as good on our end, with the caller sounding loud and clear with natural voice reproduction.  The battery gets a welcome bump from 4.5 hours up to 5.5, with a full week of standby.  This is plenty for even those teenagers with the phone attached to their ears/thumbs.

Conclusion:

The Rumor 2 brings some nice upgrades to the original and wraps it up in a more modern package.  Still, it’s basically the same as its predecessor and so is fairly disappointing.  The Rant may have found some inspiration in the Rumor, but it pretty much trumped the device in every way.  The Rumor 2 fails to trump the Rant in anything, so we have to ask: at the same price point, especially with the Rumor’s shoddy quality issues, why would anyone choose the LG over the Samsung?  Seriously, if you know leave a comment, because we can’t think of a single reason.

Pros

  • Better form factor
  • Four row QWERTY
  • Solid phone performance

Cons

  • No significant upgrades
  • Poor camera and media player
  • Color schemes limit potential buyers

The only reason someone would choose the Rumor 2 is because it lacks the OneClick interface, so no accidently browsing the internet (if they don't have a data plan)... Thats the only reason I can think of.

It comes down to personal preference. The Rumor2 has a much bolder design than the old school squarish looking Rant, which also uses some cheap feeling plastics. I am a texter and texting has little impact on whether the phone has EVDO or not. I really like the piano gloss finish of the Rumor2 and the bolder Blue (and grey accents on the grey phone), rather than the dull matte backplate and keyboard of the Rant. The Rant also feels a little more piggish in my hands for some reason and I like the Rumor2's roundness. Again, these are personal reasons, but the Rumor2 suits my needs just fine.

Agreed with the 2nd comment. They rated it so low in comparison to the Rant...which does have more features. But as the 2nd comment states...if you are just using the phone to txt and make calls there is no difference between the phones as the EVDO feature has little, if any, impact on phone calls, reception and txting. They gave it good ratings for battery life, reception and feel/build quality. Plus I like the style design of the Rumor 2 (in black and chrome) better than the black and blue of the Rant.

The LGR2 Is better then the original in my opinion but I do have some problems with it. Like for instance, I cant record video's anymore which is very odd. One would think that they would have kept that function but I guess they didn't deem it necessary anymore. Another problem I have with it is, since I'm an avid texter, when I have the sound on I like to know who is texting me(obviously) which I could easily figure out from the Rumor 1 since you could set the tone to your text msg's. But again for some reason in the Rumor 2, it does not have that option. Which really tick's me off. I don't like hearing "Message Received" every single time someone sends me a text. Cause then if I don't have my phone in hand and Im busy doing something, I have stop what I'm doing to check and see if it's someone new or the same person. I cant tell the difference till I look. Also. As of recently my camera wont work. It keeps freezing and I would like to know why. I take good care of my phones and both Rumors that I've owned have had issues. LGR1 having the more annoying one(Randomly shutting off when ever it felt like it). I've only had the LGR2 phone since June and have had no real problems except for now. Does anyone know if this is a problem that can be fixed with out having to send it in? If so, let me know. I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks. :)

Here's one other reason :

It's a good phone for Seniors who, for the most part simply want to make & receive "phone" calls......

BUT who have children / grand children who are into texting....

The simplicity of this phone, and it's great texting ability male it a perfect choice for the less technology advanced folks.....
