LG G3 vs HTC One (M8)

0. phoneArena 10 Jun 2014, 07:13 posted on

LG's G3 sports the first Quad HD (1440 x 2560) display in a phone from major manufacturer, as well as a unique laser autofocus system. Does HTC's finest, with its premium chassis and unique Duo Camera, stand a chance against the QHD G3?...

I choose the One M8 for Rock-solid software and hardware. Including the nice screen and the awesome speakers. About the camera..... I guess I'll tweak the exposure values a little...... Maybe...... Goddamnnit! Nothing is perfect!

HTC One has Blinkfeed that G3 does not, or any similar app or feature .
personally I used it at least 2 hours a day..
it's also one of the best feature I like about HTC.
and with the new sense.. i can even see my instagram n facebook and tweeter and g+ and nba scores!!!
Blinkfeed all the way!!! = m8 ftw

Actually HTC released blinkfeed on the play store, so other phones can use it. But I agree blinkfeed is sweet.

I really like the G3, but I'd rather have M8.

They are both great phone to say the least. However, I wouldn't choose neither of those phones because the headphone jack is on the bottom of the phone... I use my armband to carry my phone while I run and it will make it hard to plug in. I'll stick with my Z2 for now :D

I would choose G3 over M8 any day. HTC had their chance twice but totally blew it.

Um, what? How? It's an excellent quality phone, makes a LOT of people happy by suiting their needs the best, and was named the best phone by pretty much EVERYbody. How exactly did they blow it? Twice?

Ohhhhhh. Are you one of those people that thinks numbers trump everything else?

i think he is speaking abt the camera...

Everybody knows that the Ultra pixel is a total gimmick...
Other than that the M8 is a good phone...

Fair enough, and I agree it's disappointing, but that implies that the camera makes the phone, which of course is a complete load. That's why I couldn't see how HTC blew it entirely.

actually the g2 carried the best phone by all reports the htcrap was popular by nerds and phonearena. which is funny cause innovation left out by htc was exciting to people that thrive on basic plane devices yay for technology

The G3 is a really nice phone, but the the M8 is still the better all around phone. Good phone from both companies though.

I'm totally enjoying my m8 right now, the only thing that makes me interested with lg in this comparison is its leading 2k display(I'm not really after outdoor visibility)

I wanna buy it but I am scared about the camera. Are your photos overexposed sometimes? Did the software update fix that? The only thing stopping me from having the one M8 is the camera. Otherwise, I think its worth more than the most expensive vertu phone :-D

If anything HTC figured that out and it rather underexposes than overexposes...It's a great camera. I hate people that don't have any clue bitch about the 4Mp resolution!

I haven't taken much photos yet but from what I've seen the image quality is already good enough. The front facing camera is a huge improvement from my one x and butterfly as it captures more light and details. I didn't look at the camera as a downside when buying this phone, it might not be better than it's competitors but as far as I'm concerned I'm already contented with the camera

I wish PA had included some photo samples taken in the night. HTC's Ultrapixel -- designed to capture more light per pixel for low light scenarios. I wanted to see how that stacks up against the G3. Disappointed!

Yea seriously . PA should've compared lowlight photos. Want to see how g3 performs in lowlight.

LG's photos at night may appear brighter but look like an oil painting whereas HTC's do not. A thing to pont out is that it's good to shoot in manual mode and reducing ISO settings (night mode can exaggerate) that way you get darker photos (that can be edited to bring out every fine detail though in PS ect..) but more detailed photos.

in 2014, a 600$+ phone that feels choppy and slow (G3, galaxy s5, and i heard sony Z2) - is not worth buying!
on the other hand HTC M8, nexus 5 are phones which are blazing fast!

Based on early analysis, I expected the LG G3 to blow the HTC One away. The HTC One M8 is a solid phone and has been a joy to own. I have yet to come across a phone which would make me switch.

very hard to decide which device i will buy, or if is better stick with my lg g2.
lg g3-big screen in a relatively small body, removeable big battery, good speaker, already used to lg ui and back buttons.
htc m8-best speakers ever, beautifully crafted phone, blazing fast ui and performance, but just 4mp, how to zoom in this?
and there is xperia z2, have decent speakers, screen, very good battery and the most important for me is waterproof. how to decide?

Display:- both look great, but I am more inclined to bigger screen. Having said that 5.2" is still acceptable.

Sound:- Look at the scores for headphones output. Wow. I think people who own HTC ONE M8 must be having a blast listening to songs and watching videos.

Performance: 801 will breeze through without any problems, Sense 6.0 is extremely smooth and nice UI , LG G3 Ui is good too

Battery life:- Now this is an extremely important aspect and here LG G3 seems to be having an edge. Hope HTC ONE M8 is not having terrible numbers that you have to turn it down. If HTC ONE M8 is having decent numbers then it is still an excellent buy.

Price:- Over pricing will always hurt and I am hoping they will put it in affordable limits. These days companies have forgotten 600$ price tag.

Overall: Looking at the comments and talk in the town, HTC ONE M8 has very good feedback. LG G3 and HTC ONE M8 both are good phones. I thought they will put 805 inside LG G3 so that makes it on par. Still it is so confusing to pick one from amazing flagships introduced this year. S5, Z2, M8 and now LG G3. Competition is heating up.

I still prefer HTC M8 cause of its sexynis and magnificent boom sound. The other things aren't the best but the average person will be satisfied with them cause they are far from the worst.

M8 anyday over G3. I would take an average gimmicky camera over a lifeless display.

I chose the M8 as my phone because I love Blinkfeed, I love the attention to detail with which HTC designs their phones and their build quality, I love the speakers, I LOOOOVE Sense UI, and I think that while the M8 does have an inferior resolution, its screen contrast and overall pleasantness of the image is better on the M8 than on any other phone.
