LG DoublePlay ReviewLG Doubleplay 5
calling quality isn't one of the highlights of the handset because its overall quality is undoubtedly sub-par. It's made blatantly obvious by the noise that's heard through the earpiece, and the muffled voices we hear through it. Luckily, our callers on the other end of the line don't have any problems, as they're presented with clear voices. Meanwhile, we're still hearing the same awful and muffled tones when using the speakerphone.
Maintaining a high amount of bars in high coverage areas, signal strength appears to be solid – however, we did experience a single dropped call.
Limiting our interaction with the secondary touchscreen, while using the main one primarily, we're able to get close to one day of normal usage out of the handset. Of course, it's seemingly more than sufficient for our needs, but it's still something we'd recommend charging on a nightly basis.
Kudos to LG for thinking outside the box when it comes to the design of the LG Doubleplay, but in all seriousness, it's simply not practical when it comes down to typing messages. Rather, we find the whole thing challenging as we resort to using the on-screen keyboard instead. In addition, we do like the multi-tasking aspects found with the secondary touchscreen, but it doesn't particularly deepen the experience – nor does it bring any innovative qualities. Flaunting a $99.99 on-contract price, it doesn't seem fitting for the LG Doubleplay, and instead, we'd recommend saving the money and spending it on something better – say like the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G.

LG Doubleplay Video Review:
- Responsive performance
- Uninspiring & chunky design
- Awful calling quality
- Difficult to use the keyboard
- Limited functions with the secondary display

Funny how this keyboard went all the way to the production line. I think a 10 year old might think the same thing we all are thinking: Why do you need a split keypad with a chunky touch screen in the middle, wish a touch screen just above.

LOL? The Sidekick4g? Please that POS freezes like no other, it has so many bugs and cinks that have yet to be fixed. Its a great UI but the phone is laggy as hell and picture quality is horrible this is way better!

Hey look- it is the next phone to suffer from the Echo Effect- install a gimmick, see if someone buys it...

So basically they're saying that they have no idea why anyone would buy this phone. I have to agree.

I guess we all know why LG, a big player in the cell biz, is loosing financially.

...and of course this is something Tmo would love to invest in. After the failed new sidekck, they want another failure. Could invest hrc titan or samsung focus which probably sell better no matter price. Just like amaze and gs2.

i was legitly interested in this phone. the secondary display seems pretty practical to me but the phone's limitations kind of hamper the innovation here.

I was actually surprised when playing with the phone. I thought it looked cheap and that the frame would reflect that, but when actually holding in your hand it feels durable and sturdy. I also like the concept of a second screen. How many times a day do you have to stop whatever it is you're doing to reply to a text, it'd be nice having a separate screen that you can text from so you don't have to stop what you are doing.

Let me just say that this is probably the worst phone i have ever used in my life!! Its glitches like no other, restarts itself daily, and constantly stops recieving messages! At first i thought the double display screen was a great idea, but the sh*t i have to put up with daily just use this phone is rediculous! ive had this for about 2 months now and its already gone to sh*t. Please.. PLEASEEE if you are considering getting this phone, just dont. You'll pretty much regret it everyday.

I have this phone and i love it! everything works like its supposed to, its fast, and really good screen. the keyboard is really good compared to my last phone that kept changing letters from a to something else! it was a pain in the butt to type before, but now its just like a keyboard. My fingers are skinny and small so it works really good for me (i guess if you have fat fingers it might suck, but the letters pop out so you can feel them pretty good). Im glad I upgraded my phone to this one on t-mobile, the best feature is the gps navigation! no more getting lost! lol, smart phones rock, and if you like to type allot of text messages i recommend this phone.
