LG Clout Review
0. phoneArena posted on 02 Sep 2010, 07:35
When LG first introduced the VX8000 flip phone nearly five years ago, it was an immediate success for Verizon due to the dual color displays, 1.3MP CCD camera, stereo speakers, excellent call quality, and overall good looks. Since then, the line has continued to evolve with the VX8100, the ever-popular VX8300, VX8350, and last year’s VX8360. Now comes the latest iteration, the LG Clout VX8370. Naturally ...

Looks like a winner IF it has no data requirement!

Where can I get this phone?? The verizon site and store have nothing about this phone.

It should eventually be sold by Verizon on-line, but there's no date available yet. As of now, you can only buy it from a "Verizon Authorized Agent" location, which is not a Verizon-owned store.

They have them at some Wal-Mart's. 97 cents with upgrade.

Reminds me of my vx8100. Just a little thinner, no antenna, and different color scheme. Had that phone like 4 years ago, great phone, and not much else you can do with a flip phone, it just looks dated now, kinda like every flip phone.

Has this phone been discontinued? I chatted with Verizon (two days ago) and they told me that the phone will NOT be carried by Verizon Online Sales (but did confirm no data plan). I chatted with LG today (the phone is not on their website) and they indicated that the phone had been discontinued.

The LG Clout VX8370 is not discontinued (it is brand new), but for now it can only be purchased from a "Verizon Authorized Agent" location, which is not a Verizon-owned store. It is believed that once the Verizon web site sells-out of all their older VX8360 stock, then they will then start to sell the new Clout VX8370.

Can you confirm the address book actually has fields for a contact's street address? This would be HUGE for me, as it is the one thing I have missed from my Kyocera SmartPhones from many years ago when the design of the smartphones moved too far away from a classic phone for my taste.

Clout is available in Verizon store where I bought one today. Review seems accurate and it does have address area for contacts. Simple phone which is what I wanted. No data plan. Not on web site as of now. Seems to be fairly new. Claims good battery life.
Instruction manual is sparse and not very complete. I'm very happy with phone so far.

I got this phone earlier this week. It is a terrific phone. It has built in FAX/modem capabilities, which is hard to find these days. To use these capabilities hardwired, download the Alltel 8370 driver from the LG website. I was able to send Faxes and access the Internet with free dial-up - no data plan required!

Has anyone had problems with this phone dropping calls? How is signal reception in fringe or weak areas? Thank you/

Received my 2-year free phone from Costco. Just had to pay sales tax but it came with a car charger, clip case, ear phones as well as wall charger. So far, phone has been good. Phone was not listed on Verizon's site for free phones. Check with Walmart also if no Costco nearby.

Overall good functioning feature phone, which are becoming rare due to carrier forcing everyone to move to more expensive (cost & service) smartphones.
However I'm experiencing a problem with fluctuating volume in the ear piece, especially volume increasing. The phone has been replaced but this one has the same problem. It's not a deal breaker, but an annoying problem.

Had the Clout for two days. To address an earlier question, fringe area reception seems good - I drove through a notorious dead spot on the way to work and didn't lose my conversation.

I have had my LG Clout VX8370 now for three weeks and think it is a great replacement over my Motorola V65s which finally died on me. The Clout is my first LG Cellphone and I guess from the other forum comments I got a pretty decent phone. The only negative thing(s) that I have discovered with it which are not "Show Stoppers", the voice recognition is a bit on the week side as I have to repeat myself more than once to place calls, incoming seems a bit better. The accessory covers on the sides of the phone will eventually break off sometime during its life time. I can't speak for much of the extra amenities as my only need is just for a reliable phone.

slfmca: I've been trying to get the Clout and can't find it anywhere. Where did you get it? Or if anyone else knows I would really appreciate it.

I bought my LG Clout VX8370 on Ebay to answer your question. I first saw the phone at a Verizon Store that was privately owned. From other responses on forums that I have read they stated that the privately owned shops are the only ones carrying the phone at the present time. The shop in my area was offering the phone for $30 with a two year contract. Hope this helps!
