HTC One X vs Samsung Galaxy Nexus

0. phoneArena 06 Apr 2012, 04:14 posted on

A lot of users out there who are considering buying the new HTC One X are probably wondering if it's really better than the Galaxy Nexus, which is a device that has an almost identical footprint. Well, of course a lot of users will be torn between these two powerhouses, seeing that they feature displays that are almost exactly the same in terms of size, and both run Android 4 ICS...

Idk what you're smoking, but HTC products suck. Sense is the ugliest, battery hogging, pos that gives Android a bad name. Take the Evo for instance, terrible battery life, horrible processor, and to top it off, I had to push my back camera button in to make it work.

The phone itself was way too heavy, and I had mine replaced about two times because of my buttons and screen problems. I bought the Galaxy SII and I've never been happier. My phone is thin as a pencil, my processor destroys the Evo, my screen is bigger with a better display, and I have dropped it multiple times without one issue. So you should probably get your s**t together before you go bias on another company.

Oh, and good luck putting a custom ROM on the One X with no removable battery. I don't know one developer that would buy that phone. You have to wait for your phone to die before you can turn it on again, or get every single ROM dead balls on. Trust me, there are reboots. And I would take TouchWiz over Sense ANYDAY.

I love how you're trying to make it sound like it's absurd to think that HTC products are good. And no, it's sense that gave android a good name. Remember the first android phone? The UI on that was incredibly ugly. HTC added polish to a UI that desperately needed it.
And I'm not sure if you realise this but sense has been toned down alot and generally follows the android 4.0 layout throughout.
We're not talking about the EVO here anyway, we're talking about the One series. And this one beats your S2 in terms of speed anyway. And I'm the one that's biased on another company? I'm not the one who's using one experience with an EVO to judge an entire product range.
Anyway, what general consumer cares about custom roms? The HTC One X isn't a developer phone, it's aimed at a casual smartphone user. And anyway, I doubt the battery makes a difference to putting a custom ROM on it...
And you may take touchwiz over sense, but most people prefer sense 4.0 to touchwiz. Touchwiz and LG's ui are regarded as probably the most unnecessary UIs out there.

Stock android 4.0 and sense 4.0 are the best.

I completely disagree with your point, but you're entitled to it. Welcome to Phonearena.

I would rather have the One X due to the more advanced display and more camera functionality... Even though stock ICS is great, I love the look on Sense 4. And if I ever get tired of Sense, I could just install a custom ROM

I prefer HTC One X because of it's camera, processor and nearly all of it's features. HTC One X design is more beautiful than Galaxy Nexus. I'm not a HTC user but i like this one. High processor speed and especially for it's camera and Gorilla Glass.

One of the main weaknesses pointed out in this review was the camera of the One X, though. Look at the picture comparison and see how much worse the One X camera is than the Nexus, which isn't even supposed to have a very good camera.

I really loved Phonearena, and they were a website i checked everyday for nearly 2 years. But ever since their HTC One X Review, and the comparisons that followed, i found out that they are the most biased website in history. or at least the reviewer is. HTC One X is currently the Best Smartphone in the market in every department. I dont know why the reviewer Hates HTC so much. and they cant give a reason why they think one x sucks!

I think they should have more reviewers than just Ray S. weigh in. He definitely doesn't seem too impressed, while every other reviewer out there has been astounded.

to do the comparison right you should have taken the white Nexus, at least for the first part of the analysis. The black nexus against white htc add unnecessary discrepancy that does not help in this case.

You guys see the crap thats going on here User review for
galaxy nexus: 9.5
Iphone 4: 9.5
Iphone 4s: 8.5
HTC ONE X: 7.8

Both iphone 4 and 4s has non removable battery and no microSD slot so u can see that crap thats going on here? One man cant jude these phones Need a survey for more accurate results. HTC ONE X SHOULD HAVE GIVEN 9.5 in my opinion.

look at the screen of iphone 4 or 4s or galaxy nexus or any super amoled screen and compare it to htc lcd2 and u see what im talking about

One X should have a score no higher than 8.5.

and how would you explain htc inspire getting a score of 9 rather than something below 7.8 theres a huge gap between the different technology used but same android settings just new os. Ive held the htc one x its not as big as everyone thinks its by far the best looking phone on market UI is the best no doubt it blew my s2 away samsung may come out with galaxy s3 i think htc ui will still be better than anyting samsung does.

That's why Engadget stopped rating devices on a number system. First, it eliminated any perception of bias. Second, it forced readers to actually read the review and judge for themselves, rather than skipping to the end and judging by the score, and the "pros" and "cons."

Probably about the same amount that Sprint and Palm paid for their Palm Pre review.

To me the PA reviewers of the One X seem to have opposite reviews of all the other blog sites. It is my opinion that they are just trying to keep in line with the terrible 7.8 that Ray gave this phone while reverently comparing it to the iPhone There is just no WAY that the One X deserves a 7.8 period. I was considering the Nexus from Sprint but would consider the EVO version of the One X over the Nexus because of possible antenna bugs reported, Screen clarity over all, HD voice for future compatibility, alledged weak GPS issues, and alleged over all lower speaker sound.

I like the Nexus but the issues of bugs and out dated hard ware makes me think of EVO. Nexus has tons of Developer support, and may get Jelly bean faster for sure. Nexus has big ASOP support with many different roms. I had the OG evo and it was a solid device period. Sense is a matter of choice and on XDA some people have ported Sense to the Nexus go figure. Internet browsing seemed pretty speedy in other reviews, so to me how hard can it be to open and surf. Pinch to zoom seemed quite fluid in the review from Aron's video review on Phone dog where I think the review is fair, and in the video you can see every aspect of what the review is saying. That said this Phone deserves at least a 9....ultimately it's your choice either will do!

Agreed. Ray should not have been the one to review and compare the One X, he is clearly leaning towards his own preference and not being open-minded about the device. I went to PhoneDog to get a more fair review, and it was reasonable, unlike Ray's. The One X deserves at least an 8.5, quite possibly higher. All I know is, the One X should have beaten the iPhone and possibly the Nexus, but it didn't. Not because of the lack of overall quality, but the lack of a good reviewer.

whatever else.....look at the two phones side by side...the one x is light year ahead in term of lookings...it's a great joy to look at it....i think 1st comes lookings then other things....on the other hand x's display is better, watching video a joy multimedia is winner then what need.....oh the camera ...i think it's a software problem which htc will soon solve...it is better than nexus in most aspects.....

I don't honestly see how the Galaxy Nexus camera could have beaten the One X. I have used the Galaxy Nexus and I never could get it to take a decent photo.

Also, unless we're talking about the GSM Version, the Galaxy Nexus has well-documented antenna and battery issues. I have witnessed these first-hand on the Verizon version.
