HTC Magic ReviewHTC Magic 7.5
In our tests, the HTC Magic has excellent call and data connectivity. It could find and hold the signal and no dropped calls. The call quality is high with no echo, both callers on either end enjoying clear audio.
Battery life for the HTC Magic is rated for 450 minutes of talk time and up to 420 hours of standby for the GSM version. Using the phone moderately over the course of several days only required one recharging, so the Magic seems very power efficient. Obviously, heavy use of data and media result in shorter battery life, but average use should get you through the entire day and into the night before needing a recharge.
In a nutshell, the HTC Magic offers a slimmer and smaller form factor than the G1 but lacks a QWERTY keyboard. Software wise, they are almost identical (once the G1 is updated to Android 1.5) and there isn’t anything too cool about the Magic. It is a nice phone - it feels nice in the hand, the on-screen keyboard is well-implemented - but we are disappointed that it is lacking the Sense UI that would really give it the “WOW” factor. We can only hope it will be available as a software update.
HTC Magic Video Review:
- Much smaller size than the G1
- Expandable memory
- Access to App Market for purchasing and downloading apps
- Same old interface as the G1
- miniUSB connector requires an adapter for using a traditional 3.5mm headset
- Awkward connectivity to a computer
- Lack of multi-touch

Palm Pre:decent call quality, very good user interface, questionable build quality and poor battery=9.9 iPhone:lousy call quality and reception, very good user interface, good build and (by PA's estimate), decent battery=8.5 HTC Magic: excellent call and reception, very good user interface, good build and excellent battery= 7.5 ????? Nice objective review.

yeah thats what i man. the pre gets pretty much the perfect score. the camara is not that good. the keyboard is cramped, and the battery is poor. i mean all phones have their cons but how can this phone get a 9.9 that's like saying the phone is excellent without flaws. so whenever i need an opinion about a phone, believe me this is not the place i come to for help lmao

I don't mind the comparisons to other smartphones because it is necesarry to a certain degree. But Android is developing so to put that there isnt new software on it as a negative is wrong because there will be upgrades when available and it is capable as is. I don't always agree with Phonearena's ratings but I will agree that it is detailed enough for me to form my own opinion off of your testing.
