HTC DROID DNA Review

0. phoneArena 15 Nov 2012, 08:42 posted on

Rather than concocting something that seemingly would fit into the upper echelon of Big Red’s lineup, the Taiwanese company is breaking new ground that no other manufacturer has been able to establish. Galvanizing to say the least, the HTC DROID DNA is a meticulous work of technology, as its 5-inch 1920x1080-pixel Super LCD 3 display is a monumental feat in itself that’s unmatched at the moment...

with all those cons why did this phone get a score of nine? the note 2 review don't have a con. this does have 3!

what did PA reviews talk about the battery life of one x? now compare that with real life users and you'll get the idea of the battery life of droid DNA.

well good luck HTC.Verizon isn't the world though.

What type of microUSB port is it? How many pins does it have? Is it like the Galaxy note 2 11-Pin port where it will support both HDMI out + OTG at the same time?

The SGSIII scored higher than this!? Am I the only one who likes Android but not Samsung? Having owned HTC,Motorola, and Samsung I can easily say I will never get another Samsung phone. ...... ..P.S this HTC Droid DNA is SEXY!

This review is not very objective.

Design - let's be serious, this thing is ugly
Camera - mediocre at best. Low light samples are out of focus.
Browser performance - below average according to other sites (sunspider score of 1420)
Battery life - nothing out of the ordinary
OS - Android has many flaws that people seem to ignore - poor email client, a pointless layered structure, security concerns, fragmentation issues.

IMHO this phone is a 7/10, but as always, reviewers give the android device a
'free ride".

Oh okay.. let me rate your 'beloved' samsung Galaxy SIII and iPhone 5. (Assuming you're another samsheeeeap or iSheeeap judging by how u speak)

S A M S U N G S I I I -

Design- Odd. Not even as pretty as a HTC One X... Even a Low end phone like the LG Optimus L5 looks hotter than this..

Camera- Good but clearly not the best.. and if i want to say something.. not as good as the HTC One X's camera.

Browser performance- Fast.. but obviously can't be as fast as DNA..

Battery life- Nothing out of the ordinary.

OS- Android has many flaws? bullcrap. They are getting better each day- thanks to google tinkering with the OS' coding.

Screen- Cold. very cold. Blue tinting.

IMHO this phone is a 8/10.. i am not like you Edmund.

i P H O N E 5-

Design- Urgh. Like a brick. SIII even looks better than this.

Camera- BAD BAD BAD! Purple halo issue with it and apple says its a norm.

Browser- Speedy....buts thats becuz of the coding of the OS.

Battery Life- Meh. You get what i mean.

OS- Fast but boring.... fast speed is due to the fact that when someone launches an app or scrolls from homescreen to homescreen, the background processors of the iOS stopped.. and once its done, it continues. fast partially due to coding.

IMHO This phone gets 6.5/10. Design is old.........OS is as boring as ever.

this is a nice phone that i would suggest to a lot of people but the MAXX HD suits my needs better and will perfectly supplement my Nexus 10 which has an even more powerful SoC than the S4 Pro and an even higher resolution than the DNA giving me a really sharp 300ppi on a 10.1" display versus the kind of pointless 440ppi on a 5.0" display.

If that works for ya King, rock on man. Handle your business bro. I think I'll give this whole cloud storage thing a whirl and pair this beauty with a 32GB Nexus 7 tablet and be set on my end.=)

You and I both. I know I love the Nexus 7 tablets, and I'm pretty sure I'll love the DNA too. Can't say I'd have anything bad to say about your setup though man. Good stuff.=)

For me the htc droid dna is the best smartphone out there despite the 16 gb internal memory and the average rating when it comes to the battery life. HTC, please make an international version of this phone and change your marketing strategies for this phones to sell very well

I really don't get it! WTF is wrong with HTC??? They bring up a fantastic phone with fantastic specs that could easily have become the best smartphone on the market today and then they put in 16GB and an average battery?? It would have taken so few in order to get the best reviews everywhere und to get back their market share but somehow they always need to mess it up with some stupid things! How dumb is that??

Why isn't a non-removable battery a "con"? That ought to be right on top of the con list.

Woww to all you dumbass htc trolls that are drooling over this device. The truth is HTC continues to come out with the best phones bbut s**tty battery life, when that s the main problem they need to correct in the first place! What they did even more retarded this time around is that they dont even allow you to access the battery for the first time! So you cant even replace the battery when it dies as you used to. Go ahead im sure this comment wilk be disliked by these trolls obsessed with htc, but go look on other neutral postings on other phone arena articles and you ll see the truth. Keep looking at the specs telling yourselves you ll be fine while you ll actually suffer. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?$&#&&#&#&#&#&#&#&#&#&#

Aww im a dumbass too then? Go eat d**k ya lil bitch. Samsung is much more reliable then htc. Htcs have many problems. At least samsung doesnt have that and is reliable. Also, much better battery life and ii believe the note 2's is removable. Removable battery is a must for these phones, remember this is supposed titi be a mobile phone rather than a plugged in laptop. The f**kheads DATA htc continue to not address their main problem, battery. Now the sad thing is htcs have the best and brightest screes where as the samsung phomes are perfect on paper but the screen is not bright at all

I don't think this phone deserves a 9 rating. Those stupid battery life and internal memory alone, this phone should be rated 7.something. 11gig of memory will be full in no time at all. Cloud isn't an option at all because they will make you pay after 2 years. It's all about the money. And reviews from the verge and gsmarena are out already, with battery tests. 4hrs of video playback and 6hrs of LTE talk time. How the hell does HTC want us to use that hardware? Beside an outlet everytime? I won't be confident to bring this on a vacation or a night out at all. Stupid HTC. Even my OneX which has 7hrs video playback won't last 4hours screen-on time when surfing at 0% brightness. HTC really wants that "stupid battery" reputation.

wow. This might be my next phone! Just wish it was on AT&T's 4GLTE network. Thought about a Galaxy Note II but it's expensive. But this phone doesn't have the writing app I'd use to jot down notes for haircuts I do at my San Francisco salon. decisions, decisions!

a Micro SD and 2500mah would have killed the competition. HTC never been the company who believes in perfection. HALF SSA is their policy.

I would have paid $100 extra for 32GB Built-in + Micro SD + 2500mah.

yes i would have paid $299.00 but now you won't get a dime.

i wouldn't say Samsung is more reliable than HTC at all. HTC devices typically have better build quality, better sound quality, faster updates and aren't plagued with GPS issues like Samsung devices USUALLY are although they've been improving there it seems as of late. yeah, HTC blows in the battery life department though. if Motorola laid off some engineers recently then HTC needs to hire them up so they can start fitting some bigger batteries into a thinner chassis. Motorola can fit the biggest battery HTC uses into something as small as the Razr M.

The Problem with HTC using a 16gb internal storage is you don't really get all 16 gb Sense takes up what like 3-4gigs so that leaves you with 12gb's then you download ANY GAMELOFT game which takes ups 2gigs of space, add some movies and music then you have filled up your phone rather quickly. Yeah you can stream your music and podcast on VZW but all plans arent created equal (unlimited still exist on VZW?)

BTW are the new Hotness until the Next Samsung Phone comes out. Sad but true.

From other reviews I've read :

Battery life is terrible
The high resolution screen (1080P) results in considerable lag
Main camera is mediocre at best
The display performs poorly outdoors
No SD expansion
Expensive

I don't believe this phone deserves a 9/10 rating. Not with this many shortcomings anyway.
