HTC 5800 Fusion Review

The HTC 5800 Fusion is a nice addition to the smartphone line offered by Qwest, including the Motorola Q and HTC Mogul. It is the only smartphone currently offered that features both a standard dial-pad on the front, and QWERTY keypad that slides out from the side. While we were not impressed with the layout of the QWERTY keypad, like its S710 brother, it is still useful for typing in messages, and can then be slid under the phone and out of the way.

I have had the fusion for 1 week and have been trying to give it a good test with in my first 30 days. I have been running it side by side with a smartphone on the t-mobile network. Here are is my assesment thus far. Battery life is horrible. I am testing with a data plan and the longest standby time I have received is near 10 hrs. I have made only 3 voice calls on it, so most of the testing is on the results of the data. I have tried to change the power management functions where emails only download every two hours rather than 15 min, and it does not seem to make a difference. The original charge on the battery was about 15 hrs and I let it drain down before recharging. If anyone has any ideas on how to improve the battery performance that would be great to hear. I have been impressed with the data deliverability, but I am very concerned with the battery performance.

hey man...u cant expect a phone to have a battery life span of more than 10 hrs when ur running apps. or programs and also receiving email at the same time...i mean come on...not even someone that knows everything about the phone and has an enterprise to run, would be on their phone for 10 hrs straight...and even if they did that is more than enough.
