BlackBerry Storm Review
0. phoneArena posted on 25 Nov 2008, 09:48
What’s this, the new BlackBerry? Woah, it has no keyboard. And…did it just click? You’ve never clicked a screen before, is that supposed to happen? Is it supposed to feel so…tiring? And why is this screen wiggling around, am I supposed to be seeing the circuit board? Why is it so heavy; the iPhone isn’t this heavy? The interface is pretty neat, but why are page transitions taking so long. Did it just flip orientations on me? I didn’t even move it. Wait, now I did move it and the orientation isn’t following...

Read all the mediocre reviews. Got one anyway and love it. If I could have a bold or a storm and stay with verizon I would probably choose the Bold but so far I am impressed with the Storm. I had the Dare and returned it it was frustrating to do anything on it but dial a number. I had the Curve which I also loved. The typing improves with practice on the Storm and the display is great. I like that I can highlight something by touching it and then click to confirm. I remember all the problem when the Bold first can out and the iphone 3G so I expect the Storm to just get better.

this review is total crap... I watched the video phone area put up on YouTube for the review of the storm and its obvious they are bias… the screen click is nothing! It’s the same if not less strain on your fingers than a regular phone with keys…. Yes the phone does lag at some points, but there is going to be a software update mid December to fix that. Idk how you guys had trouble typing with the storm... i got the dare and the storm kicks its ass when typing, i make a misstake on the dare every other word... with the storm i can type just fine, any mistakes i got with the storm are the same i would get on a reg keyboard...

It does do multitouch, but the typing does recognize multi-touch. right now the only function of multi-touch is highlighting.

The first paragraph of this review just gives the impression that the phonearena staff is biased. Completely exaggerating issues, blowing small details out of proportion. First off, you cannot see the circuit board. And "tiring"? If pressing a button is tiring then you are the epitome of lazy. Heavy? I't barely an ounce heavier than an iPhone... an ounce! What I am curious about is... when the iPhone 3G was released it had more issues than the Storm, yet it received a rating of 8/10. Let's see... the iPhone had lag issues, dropped call issues, poor call quality and battery life issues, and worst of all it had issues connecting to their network. That merits an 8/10? My intention is not to bash the iPhone, but rather point out that despite it's major flaws at release it still received a good score. When in comparison the flaws of the Storm are less, and it receives a 5.5/10.

but, the iphone had redeeming qualities. the storm does not. also, an ounce heavier is a nearly 25% increase over a borderline heavy phone

First off, you can see some form of circuitry, leave the phone off, or basicly get it to where its all dark screen, and you can tiny dots on what i guess would be the clicking parts, you can see the connection lines and the screen wobbles, as if saying, hey look at my screen im gonna pop off soon. bottom line its blackberry and this phone could have kicked ass.

What were the redeeming qualities of the iphone that could not/will not be the redeeming qualities of the storm? That honestly is one of hte most biased statements ever. Practically all the complaints about the storm can be fixed by software updates and I gaurentee they'll get them fixed quicker than the iphone. As for the typing, that's all opinion. Some like it, some don't. It's the way of the world. Not to mention how much more the storm does than iphone.

Redeeming qualities? At launch there were many iPhones that could not be activated on AT&T, tell me what is a redeeming quality from that? And nice symantax, using word play to exaggerate the trivial. A 25% increase in a car's weight is a lot, but when dealing with ounces it is futile, a moot point. It may be heavier than the iPhone, but that doesn't automatically make it heavy.

yeah, couldnt activate cause of the masses of people doing it at the same time, since millions bought it in a few days. yet you have people talking about waiting in line at verizon. first off what line. no one waited for this phone. yet apple had long as lines day or two before. hhmmm

after reading the review and the comments i went and tested the phone for myself......the phone is awesome. The reviewer needs to understand that......cocaines a hell of a drug...but really...experience the phone first before listening to others...including myself

I work for Verizon Wireless and I'm a Blackberry user but the Storm is junk. To be totally honest I don't even have Verizon for my wireless provider I have At&t and the service is so much better and the Blackberry I have is better than the one I had with Verizon.

To be totally honest, you are a total liar. Stevie Wonder could see through your statement. We all know you do not work for Verizon, I doubt your store manager would allow you to have another carrier because it is a direct violation of the SKPs.

I work in customer service and we dont have to have Verizon so no Im not lying to work for Verizon you don't have to work in a store. Ever think about that one?

I to work for Verizon in customer service and a lot of people here have at&t. And Verizon cannot make a store rep have a Verizon phone. If the rep doesn't want to have Verizon that's up to them not Verizon

they cant make u give up your phone but if you're a sales rep, u have to carry a verizon consession line so customers can reach you
129. (unregistered) posted on 02 Dec 2008, 15:22 0 0
you doubt cuz you dont know. you can work where ever and have whatever PERSONAL phone you want.

Just because the item is personal doesn't mean it can be brought to a workplace. Business' have SKPs that they set to address this. If a DM walked in the store and seen a sales rep with a phone other than Verizon in the store (and I repeat, in the store), they can get terminated because it is not allowed on Verizon property. I have a big personal collection of porn, but that doesnt mean I can bring it to work. I have a nice personal wardrobe, but I cannot wear what I want to work. You probably work at McDonalds, I dare you walk in eating a Whopper.

Whether in a store or call center, any other carrier's cell phone is not allowed. Unless you hide your phone, as if it were a vile of crack.
