It wasn’t until the arrival of the iPad that the Tablet market began to gain steam amongst consumers. Even now, Apple’s pride in joy in the iPad 2 continues to make great strides in the tablet landscape as it’s seemingly is the benchmark that all other tablets try to live up to. Not one to back down from a good fight, we’ve seen very recently that Asus has managed to enthrall our interests thanks to its amazing Transformer Prime, but it’s going to be interesting to see how it stacks up against the iPad 2. Without further delay, let’s find out which of these ...

All these tablets end up in "book" type case anyway ... so the sides and back do not really matter to anyway.

Think of the Prime like its a Hyundai and the iPad 2 is a Honda while the prime has every feature in the world but the Honda is simply proven !!! Who wants to be caught driving around in a Hyundai ... honestly

@peekb24... stupid comparison! I DRIVE a Hyundai and I love it over the Honda! Had Honda in the past as well.. Stick to the topic. Cars and computers don't mix!

TFT prime with FLASH, live wallpaper, widget, customization etc ... outperformed the Ipad2 with nothing to do excepts simple icons moving left-right.

The winner is obviously TFT prime !

Haha, I have a hard time having my transformer prime (in the keyboard dock), lasting under 2 days. Usually it runs out of juice after 2 and a half days, which can be annoying cause it's in the middle of the day. I guess I'll have to use it harder. Oh, and it's been in performance mode most of the time. Definitely better than the Ipad 2.

I own both and although the Prime is a much more powerful device, it has a huge disadvantage in terms of daily usage : the wifi reception is below average making it as useful as a paperweight in various situations when the reception is not optimal. This is unacceptable for me and probably for many other users.

All things being equal android tablets lack in the app department. There are just to many apps that are not available on the android platform to make it a viable option. I have been a member of both communities for a while. Apples Eco system is untouchable! Again, there are so many games, music creations apps, photo video and utilities available on the ipad that are not available on the android platform that it makes for an unfair comparison! Developers still do not want to write tablet applications for android and the gap seems to be growing not shrinking! If I am going to pay $500 plus for a tablet give me the one with the most software selection. Rooting an android tablet, while interesting, will not allow it to run more software. Flash, customization, personalization is just not enough to compensate for the software disparity!

Software sells hardware. Thats a hard lesson apple learned from its mac vs PC wars. Google seems to be clue less when it comes to this.................

iOS is better than Android? Do you mean because iOS has better widgets? oh wait, no widgets. Then you must mean cloud tech- nope, Android offers that too. I can also create and edit movies in 1080p from my Prime as well as edit music, and guess what - those are all NATIVE features. Oh i got it, you must be referring to how much easier it is to manage and play .avi, .mkv or an array of other types of video- oh, wait... nope, iOS cant do that either.

People argue that iOS is better because its more simple and to the point - well guess what, idiots, you can make Android as simple as you want it. And besides if i drive a bicycle and you drive a car, is my bike better because it is more simple and people dont really need anything better? Are we really wanting to bottleneck technology because some people dont get it? with the release of ICS the "more apps for ipad than android tablets" is all but GONE as we are seeing more and more compatible apps being rolled out daily.

the iOS is merely an app launcher whereas Android delivers more of a desktop feel. I can seamlessly VPN into my work network, run spiceworks (you know, one of those apps that arent offered on Android devices), and solve problems for my company. Another route would be to remote control my desktop and have a super computer all pressed into my compact Prime that I can type on and use as a laptop (who wants to bet that keyboard dock will be the next thing Apple rips from the Android community? #pulldownnotifications).

I hate how PhoneArena sounds so reluctant to give the win to the Transformer Prime...But doesn't matter, it still won...

I have a friend who owns both, and he loves them equally. Once again, it really comes down to which OS you prefer. Somehow everyone seems to miss that on this site EVERY time.
