Apple iPhone 4S Review

Just like what we saw with the iPhone 3GS in the past, the iPhone 4S is nothing more than an incremental upgrade. Donning a near replica of its predecessor’s design, most of the smartphone’s juicy new features are found internally as its packs a dual-core processor, upgraded 8-megapixel camera, support for CDMA & GSM connectivity, and its innovative Siri intelligent assistance service...

Iphone 4S doesn’t deserve a 9 not even an 8.5 and this is why:
-Same old design.
-It’s made of cheap glass.
-The first iphone brought a large display for 2007 standards, nowadays a 3.5” display is so… 2007.
-Siri is gimmicky (how many times a day you set dates or timers, if you’re stuck in traffic and about to dictate a message to your phyne… well if you’re gonna move your tongue anyway, isn’t it quicker to use your BT headset and simply call your wife/gf, it’s more personal you know). Don’t get me wrong, I love Star Trek computer, but Siri is far far from that.
-iOS 5 still feels the same. Messaging a la BBM and notifications a la Android are not enough. The lack of official customizability makes iOS extremely boring.
-Dual-core for handling iOS is a waste of power then dual-core becomes redundant on an iphone.
-OK, nice photography and videos (the only real improvement?) but its expensive storage options and restrictive media files management are still letdowns.
-No real 4G.

PhoneArena gave the iPhone 4 a 9.5 because it had a sexy new design, very thin, fast 1ghz processor which is still on par with it's dual core processor on the 4S and of course last but not least the retina display. They were blown away by how crisp and sharp text looked on it. However, a year and a half later: same design, slightly better display, same screen size, same screen resolution. Not much has changed and when 720p displays are right around the corner, PA is obviously not as impressed anymore and they gave it the score it got. Like it or not, the iphone 4s is just a refresh.

although i FOR SURE will not be buying iphone (due to the price,it is RM3500 in Malaysia, which is twice the price of SGS2), i saw the improvement in camera for SONY. i think next Xperia or WinNokia would be my choice ^_^

I wish PA would be consistent, they regularly rate tablets that came out after the iPad price was listed as a con. Now the iPhone 4S is a very solid device. but technically it's virtually identical to the Droid X2. Some iPhone advantages like Video recording, bluetooth 4.0 etc. But right now you can buy on an upgrade a droid x2 and a 32 gig micro sd card from newegg, bringing your total amount of memory to about 40 gigs, and the total cost is 50 dollars less than an iPhone with 16 gigs and 150 less than the 32 gig iPhone. Other iPhones have been ahead or tied with similar priced competition.
But you have a choice for 300 bucks you can get a 32 gig iphone, dual core, 3G model, or you can get for 300 bucks the 16 Gig bionic with an additional 16 gig SD card, dual core, and 4G LTE.
For me the pricing point of the iPhone should be a con, even if you want do it in a way of saying like 4 months ago i would have been rightly priced or something like that.

A counterpoint would be resale value. You may pay more up front for your iPhone 4/4S, but the phone retains its value...and then some.
I'll compare CraigsList prices of these 2 phones since they came out at the same time:
HTC EVO 4G: Going for about $200 ($300 max)
iPhone 4 16GB: Going for $300 minimum ($500 max)
[If you think this info is skewed, look it up yourself]
The iPhone owner paid $200 on contract for the 16GB version. That means at the next upgrade cycle, the iPhone owner can upgrade to whatever the $300 version would be, and probably have cash left over for a case for the phone and a case of beer.
So, actually, I think pricing should be a pro.

Does the 4S bring more, less, or about the same, innovation over the 4 as the 3G did over the 3?

More or less the same, but the iPhone 3G had a lot of room for improvement, that the 3Gs took care of.
In contrast, the Dual Core Processor and the 8MP camera do not significantly improve the everyday use of the phone.

even though Iphone 4s has the same design, the phone performs much better then iphone 4. I use to love android couple of years back when it came out, ive had G1, Nexus one, Mytouch, galaxy s, Nexus S and evo. They all were good in a way but lacked that polished feel of an OS and had many issues. Now i Have Galaxy s2 and it feels like android is reborn, It runs excellent like android was suppose to since beginning. Battery life is amazing and way better then any android phone out there. I am not that impressed with ICS, it feels sluggish and looks like another android journey has began towards stability and performance. I recently bought an Iphone 4s and i think its amazing how quick it response and runs flawless 99% of the time.
anyways i have both 4s and s2 and i think they are amazing in their own ways.

To the PA team:
The iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S both have continuous auto-focus. Even if you somehow missed that, it is obvious in the video sample here. You also didn't mention the AE/AF lock in the camera and camcorder on the 4S.
Please, check you facts.

phone arena is so bias, apple releases an iPhone you will get many articles every single day about it. HTC releases two great phones in my opinion Rezound and Amaze they look way prettier than iPhone 4 or 4s but they will refuse to spend time writing articles about these phones. Its like one article about the phones release date specs etc and that's it, next day the story of the phone is dead u wont even see it on the home page. Not fair for android. I have own an iPhone 4 and an Inspire 4g to be honest The inspire kills it. Its like with iPhone I'm trap in a prison cell Android I feel free i can do whatever i want.

People have been calling me names; dumb, dumb a**, borderline retard and the list just goes on. So one day i decided to change this and went to buy a smart phone. Finally i bought one which people have been calling the smartest of all smart phones the great "IPHONE". And then whoops everything changed overnight. No more calling names. I now flaunt the phone everywhere i go and get envious looks of people around me. Even they started to appreciate me in a way i never experienced before and asking me for my valuable comments on phones and everything. I am really enjoying this life. Thanks to my great phone. And THAaaaaNKS a lot to Phone Arena. You guys are amazing. Your relentless praising of Iphone inspired me to buy one.

i think the only intriguing thing is the SIRI which is much more like the normal alarm clock except the voice.

2. Data Transfers via Bluetooth
3. Downloading Songs or Videos via internet
I am not sure Y Iphone application are mostly paid once.. If any one has some solution pls provide thoughts.

I find myself attracted to the iPhone 4S for some strange reason (and when I say attracted I mean HIGHLY attracted). I normally like Android and/or BlackBerry, but with the iPhone's performance and its specs and its form factor, I'm pretty hooked. I think this might be part of the reason why I think I'll scrap T-Mobile... Early Termination Fees? Pfft! It's well worth it for this phone on Verizon!

people just don't seem to understand. apple makes the iphone AND its software, it means they put a processor capable to run it, which isthe case. ios5 is lighter than any android software, because i've never seen an android phone get two updates, not even nexus, and look at the iphone 3gs. from ios 3.0 to 5.0 and running as smooth as iphone 4s does, differently from considered oudated android phones from iphone 3gs' time running cyanogenmod.
NO, we don't care about flash support
YES, even without flash safari runs much faster than android
NO, we don't need absurd dual-core 1.2ghz processors to run our software, a single-core 600mhz (3GS) already does the job.
YES, even without these processors ios runs much smoother than android
NO, we don't need usb mass storage mode
YES, we have itunes that does that just fine
NO, we don't need haptic feedback, our touchscreen responsiveness is already higher than any other and dismisses these features.
YES, multi-touch came out first on iphone, capacitive touchscreen experience with that responsiveness came out with it too, all android did was to copy it.
NO, we don't need widgets. WHO NEEDS WIDGETS considering our home screen, that is also considered the most simple and easy-to-use one?
YES, we got folders later, but all it did was improve what was already advanced.
NO, we don't NEED a screen bigger than 3.5", it would be more convenient to watch videos, but not to type text messages or using it with only one hand.
YES, even smaller the iphone and ipod touch screens provide the best multi-touch and touchscreen experience, and with the retina display, one of the highest resolutions out there,
So please android fans, do a favor to most of the world and shut the f**k up, use an iphone before you can even start complaining.

i would like to testify that i have been using the iphone for more than a year, and there was tons of benefit from using it.
here's some of the benefits
- read kindle books
- change habit (be a better organized person)
- i'm stop procrastinating
- take good pictures / moments
- email and cloud storage just awesome
- manage my money
and there's many many more to mention....
the point is i'm not seeing a phone from the technical specification anymore but the benefit, what is your phone can do for you?
most of android users see the iphone from how fast is the processor/ram/etc?
believe me i have tried to use the gingerbread samsung phone and a wp7,5 HTC, and guess what? i love my iphone more.
