Apple iPhone 4 vs. HTC Droid Incredible
0. phoneArena posted on 01 Jul 2010, 10:01
As of right now, the HTC Droid Incredible is Verizon's main driving force which can attempt to hold its own ground against the Apple iPhone 4. Seeing that these are two of the best smartphones currently available to customers from their prospective carriers, it would only be fitting to stack them up side-by-side to see how they perform against one another...

They never give a verdict becuase of people like you bashing them. It comes down to preference. HTC's Peter Chou has said it for years, that there isnt one phone that is for everyone. We are people and we have preferences and opinions. The iPhone isn't for everyone (as much as you MACtavisits would want the world to believe), and neither is the HTC Incredible (for all you drop-dead VZW lovers). They are two different phones, but they share very similar features that make them direct competitors to each.... Do you think that HTC would have made the incredible now if Apple didn't have the iPhone..? and do you think that Apple wouldn't keep making iPhones if they thought taht they didn't have any competition? they could ahve stopped at the 3Gs, but they know that the market continues to evolve and tastes change... EVERYTHING CHANGES!!!!!! deal with it PA, as a DROID Incredible ADR6300 owner and user, I thought this comparison was awesome. Thanks for the hard work.

well put. they put the comparisons out there and let you decide which one you want to get. if someone is all about the Droid OS, they would get the incredible even if it was 55/45 iphone. same with an iphone user. they prefer the iphone. nobody's opinion is wrong. get what you want and stop telling other people what they should get. plus new phones are going to come out next quarter anyway. no use crying about it

Well said! You summed it up correctly. And unless you own and use both devices on a daily basis like me, you can agree to some of the things they mention. The iPhone definitely has a better build quality, but sense running on top of android is sweeter.

Nicely said, one phone is not meant for everyone. It also comes down to human nature to compete against someone else, it comes down to which side are you on?... I thought the review was comparision was great aswell.

" Aside from its uninspiring design that doesn't compete head-on to the iPhone 4" Editors: do you realize there's a picture right above this statement, showing the two phones looking exactly the same? I lol'd. Check it out, there's a picture of the Inc and the 4 right next to each other looking identical, and in the paragraph below you're going on about how much better looking the iPhone is. Pretty funny. Personally, I think they look about the same. I think the iPhone looks kind of girly, though. I've compared the two phones in real life, though, and they look very similar. ...Except the iPhone's screen is a bit smaller and more boxy.

"The only difference that we experienced this time around was how much faster the Droid Incredible acted versus the HTC EVO 4G" You say that here, but when you compared the Droid Incredible and the EVO you said: "Both devices are super quick when navigating through the operating system, but the EVO had a slight edge when it comes to things like opening applications and loading webpages. Using Quadrant’s benchmark app we ran seven tests on each device and threw out the high and low scores for each, giving us five scores to work with. The EVO was noticeably quicker; the EVO finished the benchmarks significantly faster than the Incredible and on average the results for the EVO were 18% higher than the Incredible. In fact, even if we take the Incredible’s high score and the EVO’s low score (both of which we threw out for our averages), the EVO ran 8% faster (and for those curious if we take the EVO’s high score and Incredible’s low the EVO is an astounding 24% faster.)" So make up your mind phonearena, or are you just having too much fun being apple fanboys?

So what I got from this video is that they are comparing the iPhone 4 to and already outdated phone and calling them comparable. With the onslaught of the Motorola Droid X I think the next review will be largely in favor of the Droid X. Dont get me wrong. I think the iPhone is beautiful and has nice features but I did get the chance to play with a Droid X and it will be my next phone. It truely is amazing. You have to see it to believe it! I showed it to an Evo user and the first thing that went through his mind was. "I wonder how much it would be to cancel Sprint?"

i still dont really see any difference between the 200 android "super phones" being released every month. Honestly, if you purchased a nexus one 6 mths ago there would still be no reason to upgrade to a droid X or incredible or any other droid phone. I laugh soo hard when people say stuff like OOOOOOH THAT PHONE IS GONNA BE SOOO GOOD!!!!! meanwhile, its the same as the other 50 or so android phones that came out already... I thought it was a fair review. They are also not the only ones that think so either.

I thought this review was very helpful. Extensive and relatively fair/unbiased. I lean moreso towards the 4. That said, i use open source and see the importance of owning all leading market smartphones. I am a canadian user on FIDO, so by default i use the 4 for most of my daily needs. The day when FIDO starts carrying the HTC, i'm there!

Wow everyone on here is extremely biased towards Verizon and the Incredible. I personally own a Droid Incredible and like it a lot. Here's my view on the two phones: Droid Incredible Pros: -Perfect home screen layout, Leap is awesome, and widgets are the way to go. -Can now record in HD, has a pretty solid camera with a ton of adjustable features. -Somewhat superior Internet browser to the iPhone (only because of Flash [which doesn't work perfectly] and full screen browsing). -Live wallpapers----they are Incredible! -AMOLED screen is nice and slick, wish they had put Super AMOLED in though... -Contacts have great integration with Facebook and Google. -Optical trackpad (or trackball? No, I'm pretty sure it's a trackpad) is pretty good, doesn't always work well but it's just an extra feature. -Verizon's network. CDMA or not--it's superior, by far, to AT&T. -Notification Window. Absolutely nailed notifications. The iPhone DESPERATELY NEEDS to try something like this. iPhone 4 Pros: -iTunes. I wanted to start out with this one because iTunes is constantly hated on and I thought I might be able to remedy some of this hate. Many people think that iTunes sucks. Why? Protected files can't be used pretty much for or on anything but an Apple product. Solution? Buy from Amazon MP3 or get the actual CD. Cheaper (Amazon MP3) and iTunes accepts basically every kind of music or video file. Syncing is REALLY easy on iTunes. I mean, unless you can come up with a really strong argument against iTunes--NO COMPLAINING! -Retina Display is honestly a little better overall than the Droid Incredible. -FaceTime, well, that's the future once they get it working over 3G. -Gaming is fun and easy on the iPhone 4. -The iPod was pretty much the original MP3 player, and it's the equivalent of music player perfection. The iPod touch made it better and the iPhone integration of it is nothing short of perfect. -The App Store: lots of restrictions, lots of jealous haters, lots of Droid fanboys saying it sucks. Well, they're wrong. The App Store is killer, with over 250,000 apps to choose from, it offers about 3x as many apps as the Droid. -The camera, even though it's 5MP, is better than that of any smartphone right now. -Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter apps are ridiculously better on the iPhone. -I'm not going to bore you with more! (but the background wallpapers are nice on the iPhone as well.) Droid Incredible Cons: -Camera sounds almost loose? If you shake or bump your Droid Incredible, you may get the same result I had: a kind of clicking sound. Every time I load or exit the camera as well I get this sound... -Android Market still isn't that great, especially compared to the App Store, but it's getting there. (but being able to see your downloads is nice) -No video calling... :( -Optical trackpad sometimes moves around itself and selects things and jumps through homepages. -Some apps are of lesser quality than their Apple counterparts. -VERY LOW BATTERY LIFE. -No ability to organize folders. -Hard to sync music, not impossible, but definitely more difficult than the iPhone. -YouTube is still a bit complicated and hard-to-use. Edge still to iPhone IMHO. -Contacts don't auto update with Facebook! What?! -Menu system isn't too great. -more various things with overall software compared to the iPhone that will make me sound like an Apple fanboy (which don't worry, I'm not :)) iPhone 4 Cons: -No live wallpapers. -Dual LED flash is nice on the Droid Incredible, but is missing from the iPhone. -No widget option for home screens. -No thing such as Leap (where you can pinch out on a home screen and see all of them at once) -NO NOTIFICATION WINDOW PANE. Probably the greatest feature of the Android System. -No easy way to manage and remove installed applications. -more various things as well including Apple just simply not being open sourced. Thanks and I hope this was useful!

I have an iPhone 4 with AT&T, although At&t has a bad rep for reception I have had no problem. As far as dropping calls because they way you hold it is bs. I believe it was a problem at first, but they have overcome that issue, and no I do not use that stupid case. I was the same way before I had an iPhone, all I would do is bash it. I kept getting the new "iPhone Killer" phone, none of them have satisfied the hype of what they said they would be. At the end of the the day the iPhone 4 is the best out there, which was agreed be the comparisoin you just read. They maybe didn't say it directly, but they implied it! My co-worker always has a problem with incredible, because something always doesn't work right (exspecially email). Droid people step your game up and get a big boy phone "iphone 4".

So in 4 years Apple (which I am not a big Apple fan) has only released 4 phones.
1. iPhone 1st Gen.
2. iPhone 3g 2nd Gen.
3. iPhone 3g S 3rd Gen.
4. iphone 4 Current
How many droids have been out in the last two years? I can't even count! So as you see try, try again isn't really working. It is a good effort, but you need more than that to be the best.
As far as people crying that you cannot use live backgrounds... Really!!! That's a flaw? Grow up! it is still a phone, if you need that maybe a smartphone is to advanced for you to begin with. Smartphones are for people with busy lives, jobs, which also like to have entertainment at the touch of their fingers. Like I mentioned I am not a "Apple" fan, I just believe they made the ultimate product.
Look at the advertisements, who has the "Napoleon complex"... Droid!!! It is always a pissing contest with those phones... "Look look look... my d*** is bigger". I know it is hard to admit that you made an expensive mistake by buying the wrong phone, but that is your issue, not the iPhone. Stop your bashing and and enjoy the time you have with the phone you have that will fall apart in less than a year. Quailty over quantity people... Keep making those droids motorola, htc & samsumg. As long as there are idiots you'll keep the stocks high!!! Good luck people!

These video reviews suck. 7 minutes of putting phones side by side, scrolling screens, more comparing phones' profiles, more scrolling, then just the phones sitting there doing nothing with someone going on about numbers that are better kept in text format for easy comparison and review. Very boring.

I have an iPod Touch and I have to say that the iOS and the App Store are great. In fact, I would have never thought of ever getting a Android phone until I realized I wanted to start coding my own apps. I'm thirteen. I don't own a Mac, nor do I want to pay $100 to get my app out there. So my only option now is Android.
