Apple iPad 3 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

0. phoneArena 19 Mar 2012, 07:42 posted on

Now that the iPad 2 has made way for its successor in the new iPad, it’s only fitting to pit Apple’s latest baby against the horde of competition that are already littered across the tablet landscape. Rising above most other things, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE comes to mind as a dubious competitor since it’s regarded as the best of the best from Samsung’s camp...

huh? iphone 4s beaten by SGS2? r u sure? technically iphone 4s result below SGS2 because iphone 4s has 800mhz dualcore dan SGS2 has 1.2ghz dual core. and by the some benchmark iphone 4s definitely a winner.

People will find any reason to thrash apple. Just complain, complain, complain just give it to apple for making a great tablet even better. The 10.1 is a beast too, both r very good. Tech sites do comparisons man. it's one of the best thing about these sites... Quit complaining, cuz your tab of choice doesn't win. Buy it anyway if u want it,and just enjoy it. People thrashed the new iPad,but I'm typing on mine, and loving it. Get a f**king life for crying out loud.

I'm not trying to troll with this, but I went to best buy this weekend to check out the screen on the new ipad. I honestly couldn't see what the hubbub was about. They had three ipads out for viewing. I thought I was viewing an ipad 2 becaus this lady had one of the other ipads on lockdown. I figured that must be the ipad 3 because she wasn't leaving. It turns out they were all ipad 3's. I really couldn't see what the difference was in the screen. It would have been nice to be able to compare it to the ipad 2

lol i did the same thing yesterday...

i have the iPad 2 and wanted to see if it was worth me selling it to get the new one...

to the untrained eye... you really CANT tell a difference unless you already knew about the new screen...

the screen is amazing though i'm not gonna lie... but thats about it... no major changes to make it a MUST BUY if you have an iPad 2 already...

Yeah exactly. For the most part, the ipad has never studdered, hung up, etc. regardless of the processor and ram inside, and version of ipad. That makes the rest of the upgrade relatively irrelevant. The screen is the big upgrade and I just wasn't able to see the difference without direct comparison.

This is so biased phonearena, I honestly cannot believe it! And you made a big mistake, besides the fact that you compared a outdated tablet featuring last years technology to a brand new tablet, but you listed the new iPad as having a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, whereas it's common knowledge that the new iPad has the exact same 1 GHz dual core CPU, but just a new GPU, hence A5X... Surely compare current generation technology such as the new iPad vs the ASUS Transformer Prime, now that's fair, and fix your mistake!!

Samsung needs to bring out the big guns. Super AMOLED+ tablet, 2GB of Ram, ICS, display with high pixel density (250+ Pixels per inch), and also quad core Exynos chipset clocked at 2Ghz. Also, with 4G LTE that can be used at any network in the world.

Too much?

Ouch!!! Seriously though........are u kidding me dude Mr. Apple fan boy?............The Tab 10.1 has been out so long now that it seems to be vanished under the ring of the Asus Prime best android tablet in the market right now......let me say this to u buddy boy if you want to make a comparison that worth the time to write bout.....y don't u instead choose something more comparable, I mean y don't you put the prime vs. The so call new iPad and see what happen then. I have my prime since it came out....and I wouldn't even try to compare it to the iPad 2 and that my friend just bought the new iPad let me share this with u Mr. Apple man, brighter screen absolutely but besides that its all..........I can't really say the word, but u get my point.......my friend who's a hardcore apple fan boy said to me dude as much he hate android n the Asus prime....he had to admit that new iPad or whatever u want to call it can't be compare to the Asus prime.....so plz dude next time write something worth reading.....oh by the way did u attend apple press conference bout how much $ they have available ? The only thing good about it is the display. And even then, most people can't tell the difference between the new iPad's display and the iPad 2's. The Transformer Prime probably would beat the new iPad in pure power. If you can tell the difference between the display, and you're an avid e-book reader, then yes; you could say the iPad is the best tablet at right now. However, just wait until the other manufacturers release their new flagship tablets for the year, and then the iPad will be out-shined by pretty much every high end tablet once again. But non-techy people will still think the iPad is the best, which is sad :/

The only people who jump on the Transformer bandwagon are the pure droidgeeks who measure everything by their CPU.

So what if the android OS is a sluggish, buggy pile? We'll put out a quad core CPU to try to compensate.

The fact is, if you ever used the new iPad, you would realize the new display makes a huge noticeable difference. So does the new camera and the GPU.

The new iPad is the most reponsive, best supported, best built tablet, with the best display and best camera. And it actually has a huge library of tablet apps, unlike the droidblets.

But it doesn't have aquad core cpu, whine, whine, whine.

Droidblets......? Funny though.....5+5=10 right.....also 2+1+2+4+1= 10 also......u with me? Alright buddy boy 5+5= 10 is for u Mr. Apple tree climber, and 2+1+2+4+1= 10 is for android folks meaning we customizing stuffs and tech like......u on the other end hmmm let see what u do with your apple tree ? Nothing, nada, rien.........so yea droidblets makes u want to get into stuffs unlike your apple munchies.......fancy boy toy for simple folks......

The Transformer Prime is the first and probably only comparison that should have been done. Come on, guys.

Jon V your still my favorite reviewer here for video reviews, but I do have a couple of request for the next comparison. Can you please keep the Android tablet on landscape. No one uses an android tablet in portrait because they are not designed to, just like iOS is designed to be in portrait. I know you have to zoom out a bit more but it gives for a much better comparison. You can even then compare aspect ratios if you want.
Second I think it's unfair to use the Samsung if its rooted. That was not touchwiz on it, which when I've compared roots, the one with touchwiz is faster. Plus you still have the ability to use the mini apps that touchwiz offers, which apple offers nothing that compares to it.
All in all of course like everyone else we knew the outcome of this comparison but I on the other hand do understand why it needed to be done. Right now in stores people are going in and trying to figure out which tablet to buy. Customers still buy the Samsung Galaxy Tablet over the Prime. Now granted the Prime isn't available as much but it doesn't come down to that. Samsung has marketed the Samsung Galaxy Tab more than the Asus Prime. So people come in for it more. And of course people come in for the New iPad because no one beats Apple in marketing. If they did, well that would be the end of Apple.

this is BS!

We want a good review, up to date with the latest devices! not an year old device
and also, galaxy tab starts from $539.99 for the 16gb of memory.
IDK where did the $699.9 come from?

I think the information shown for the A5X processor is incorrect. According to other source such as gsmarena, the Ipad3 should have the same processor as the ipad 2. i.e) a 1 GHz arm cortex A-9 processor but with a powerVR SGX 543MP4 GPU, not a 1.5GHz as mentioned in their review. I think Phonearena should really verify the information before they write the review.

i appriciate the sheer optimization that apple does, but that doesn't mean android sucks..android gives u freedom of customization..in this competetive world apple has still nt introduced flash for both camera as well as web browser..xDmay be a 12-core GPU offered by nVIDIA can do all work of an optimized quad core GPU of the new iPad..and the user interface in apple devices is a kind of nooby..i hate that..i love HTC sense 4 thats on HTC one X..and single core nokia n9 can do better than iphone 4(not in the field of apps)..phonearena, take outta ur mind that apple is god..its just another company in this smartphone and tablet rat race..be broadminded enough to accept the reality..
