0. phoneArena posted on 20 Mar 2012, 07:16

Moving right down the list, the next tablet deemed fitting to take on the heavy-handed punches from the new iPad, is none other than the very best from Motorola’s camp – the DROID XYBOARD 10.1. Regarded as the first tablet worthy enough to bear the DROID moniker, the Motorola DROID XYBOARD 10.1 is still a formidable competitor in this day and age, since it offers that persistent DROID DOES durability combined with its powerhouse approach...

im really beginning to think you guys are scared to compare it with the prime

The Tablets Next in Line to Battle the iPad 3:

Blackberry Playbook 4G
Kindle Fire
iPad 1st Gen
iPad 2nd Gen
Galaxy Tab 10.1 2
Galaxy Tab 7.7 LTE

then, there is Asus Transformer Prime Series // Huawei Mediapad 10 FHD (w/ 2GB RAM, HD screen, quad core, and 8MP, which i'm looking forward to.)

In a few months, those android tabs might be nothing.

If Microsoft does it right, Windows 8 will be the new tablet OS, no longer android.

31. smallcolabear posted on 26 Mar 2012, 19:16

I would like to see that =-)

2. bloodline posted on 20 Mar 2012, 07:27 4 4

they are still going to to say the ipad 3 is better than the prime - its iphonearena.

anyway, its obvious the ipad 3 is better spec'd than 1 years old tablets. review is pointless

9. darkkjedii posted on 20 Mar 2012, 08:42 1 1

It wouldn't have benn pointless if the xyboard had won. Devices r compared to what's on the market, people didn't complain when the year old iPhone 4 was being compared to brand new android phones. Both of these tablets rock, but just know some people actually appreciate apples approach. Just saying.

24. nnaatthhaannx2 posted on 20 Mar 2012, 15:16 1 1

Very much in agreement with you. The performance of my iPhone 4 is almost identical to my RAZR MAXX. I have done tons of test just for kicks.
Apple devices are just made to max the hardware with the software. When the two go together, its great. Microsoft is doing the same with WP7 (who would imagine) and its REALLY fast and smooth. I think that iPad isn't against android, but its against Windows 8.

I had a XYboard 32 gig 10.1 and I am actually sold for The New iPad. I loved it for a awhile however throughout all the things that it can do are a slew of things that it cant do that I am finding out that the iPad can it really all comes done to what you do with it and if you like the brand or not I never have been a motorola person and everytime I want to try it out I find out why I am not a motorola person.

23. SlimSoulja86 posted on 20 Mar 2012, 13:47 1

And one thing i dont get is, if for instant iPad 2 was considered to be better than the Xyboard, whats the point of comparing the New iPad with it?

Myb im d only person who thinks like this, but what is the point really? cos the new ipad is better than the old ipad, why still compare it with old devices?

i'm an ifan and want to see apple products bn d best but this is way pointless if u ask me. Just an axcuse to promote the New iPad. Apple marketing department dont need to go to work anymore, cos sites like phonearena makes their job a whole lot more easier.

#JustSaying

3. kshell1 posted on 20 Mar 2012, 07:27

also i wanted to know, where did you get that the a5x was 1.5 ghz

4. denmcdon posted on 20 Mar 2012, 07:39

Its 1.2 by some sources

5. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 20 Mar 2012, 07:47

When the reviewer calls the device magical you know where comparison videos are heading.....

13. robocopvn posted on 20 Mar 2012, 10:26

agree, and he called the other device "shame". What a funny comparison

6. Habib posted on 20 Mar 2012, 08:20

The camera on the new ipad is F2.8 ...
Whats goin on with Iphonearena..

7. jacko1977 posted on 20 Mar 2012, 08:20 1 1

the ipad does not have a retina display ffs its under 300ppi

they saying its from how far you hold it so that means my 42" full 1080p tv that i sit 5 meters away as a retina display

even if it as 52.45ppi

10. darkkjedii posted on 20 Mar 2012, 08:45 1 1

Who r u to say what it does, or doesn't have unless u design screens. My foot is in my mouth if u do,u need to hush if u dont.

28. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 20 Mar 2012, 17:25

Then i guess my galaxy nexus has a retina display too.

29. jacko1977 posted on 25 Mar 2012, 10:42

well steve jobs own words is retina display is over 300ppi so i guess it does at 316ppi

30. KingKurogiii posted on 25 Mar 2012, 12:47

it technically does. i think the ppi difference between a 4.65" HDSA display and a 3.5" Retina display is only like 10... o:

With reports coming in on websites or the new ipads overheating to the point of it shutting down then perhaps the new ipad should not be compared to any product currently!

15. drtech (banned) posted on 20 Mar 2012, 11:32 1 1

Here you go trolling away and acting like yesterday never happened

16. andro. posted on 20 Mar 2012, 11:47 1 2

Im not sure what your on about but today its seems like apple has another faulty product and is yet again denying it

17. drtech (banned) posted on 20 Mar 2012, 11:54 1

And when you're proven wrong you'll just troll on again and pretend it didn't happen

26. andro. posted on 20 Mar 2012, 15:28 1 1

Proven wrong on what? I already said i'd be as stupid as you if i claimed the ipad would not have good sales, everyone knows ifans were salivating at the mouth for an ipad 2$ and hand over any amount of cash for it,I said apple were claiming massive sales without giving proper figures and ifans were simply regurgitating the apple pr of massive sales. You really struggle with comments and tech debates, perhaps theres an iApp to help you on that.

12. theoak posted on 20 Mar 2012, 10:21 1

To be competitive ... these Android tablets need to drop their price.

The Android tablets are priced higher than the "New" ... and so one might conclude that "if it costs more it must be better" ... obviously that is not the case here.

So its like looking at something priced like a Kia (New) and something priced like a BMW (XY) and assuming the XY is better because it is priced higher and that the XY has something more to add.

In this case the New is priced like the Kia AND has additional tech and features.

So ... unless the XY has a feature that you MUST have ... the "New" is a no-brainer here.

14. trin posted on 20 Mar 2012, 11:15 1

I've been saying that for awhile now. For Android tabs to gain any type of competitive edge on the ipad they would have to come in at like 249.00 under contract and like 399.00 full retail.
Get the os out there at a loss initially. Once consumers see that android does everything the ipad does( which is a clean, crisp, controlled os), and then some, they'll put Google in position to actually compete.

27. andro. posted on 20 Mar 2012, 15:31 1

Your right about the pricing and as PA has said in an article recently the kindle fire and its extremely competitive pricing has already helped Android gain a large chunk of the tablet market share. So if the Nexus tab does come soon with the good specs and quality but rock bottom pricing we should see as PA said android gaining the lions share of the tablet market by 2013/2014

34. smallcolabear posted on 27 Mar 2012, 13:48

THis is true the XYboard outright on a 32 is 799.99 where as the outright on an iPad 32 is 729.99 Boo on me for wanting to save a little and have a tablet that suits what I do better. Regardless of faults because they all have some sort of fault beucause just like the makers they can't be perfect.

18. KingKurogiii posted on 20 Mar 2012, 12:50 1

i still want a Xyboard 8.2. it's really the only tech remaining that i actually want. o:

20. greyhulk posted on 20 Mar 2012, 13:03

It's good that there's at least one person out there who wants one.

XYBoard also might (might!) have the current version of Android available in Q4 2012. Or maybe not. Per Motorola. https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c

Meanwhile, two year old original iPads were upgradeable to iOS 5 on the day the software was released.
