LG Rumor - "Within range of a Sprint network..."?

HollyHill 19 Jul 2010, 10:11 posted on

I have been with Virgin Mobile for three years and for the last three months I continually get this error message: "You are within range of a Sprint private network. Please move outside of the private network and try your call again." Does this Virgin Mobile phone work with Sprint networks? If I buy the LG Rumor would I be able to receive and make calls and text messages? I am currently using Kyocera X-TC.

I have the Kyocera X-TC and I don't have that problem. I will be buying the BlackBerry Curve soon. Did you check the coverage map on virginmobileusa.com? If so, then call customer service and ask them. Good Luck!!

I am curious as to whether either you or a neighbor is using a Sprint Airave device? This device creates a private network that any phones that use Sprint service will lock onto, including both Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile CDMA phones. The only problem is that Virgin and Boost phones are not allowed to use the Airave.
