Droid X vs. Fascinate..

MalakiMills 30 Aug 2010, 20:30 posted on

I currently own the Droid X. But after reading about the Samsung Fascinate I am seriously consider paying the 35 dollar re-stocking fee for the switch out. Don't get me wrong I love my Droid X, just would like some opinions on what you think would be a better choice.

I think the Fascinate is a better phone all the way around. The Droid X my have a slightly bigger screen but who cares. You'll forget about those .3" as soon as you see the super amoled screen. Plus the fascinate is more compact, lighter, slighty faster, and sexier(IMHO). The Droid X has a better camera but not by much. Not enough to beat the fascinte. The Galaxy S is or will be gagdet of the year and for good reason.

Droid X is better specced in everything except screen quality (Fascinate's Super Amoled compared to TFT) even though Droid X's screen is a bit bigger. The Fascinate also has a better proccessor (even though OMAP and Hummingbird are both 1 GHZ, the hummingbird is known to process at considerably faster speeds)

What is coming out that will really be that much better than the fascinate. I mean will they all just be other brands models with basically the same specs, or is something coming out that will step it up, within the next two months that is, because my upgrade is in may next year and either of these phones will work for the next 7-8 months, until I'm really looking for something better.

i have the droid x for 2 weeks now and it is big. bulky big i have a case that clips on my pants and it looks very bulky and is . i went to verizon store today and wow facinate is sleek and small . the reason i get a case is so screen is protected. well with the fascinate the screen is vritually unscratchable with this material the only thing you may want to do is cut out a small piece of screen saver and put it on the camera lens . otherise stick in your picket as is your safe. or if your scared to drop it get a tight rubber case for protection but all this in a small package and you can use it as a 3g hot spot . wow its a nice alternitve to the iphone anyway im not 100% sure yet on my switch but the size is a pain in the a-- and like the slimness of the fascinate.

Indeed, we are in the technological advancement! Another reason to convince us why I had this conclusion in mind is because Verizon Wireless has announced they are launching a 4G system last Sunday, Dec. 5. The proof is here: Verizon 4G LTE network to launch Sunday The 4G technology Verizon is utilizing is called LTE. 4G simply means that this is the 4th generation wireless network. No Verizon cell phones yet support the 4G network technologies. Verizon plans on rolling out 4G cell phones in January.

Keep the Droid X.

Motorola is the only brand that can keep up to speed with Google Android's Upgrades.

Samsung's UI is NICE.. but you will always be stuck with the Android 2.2 OS. Samsung has not caught up to speed with Android's upgrades.

The Droid X has the specs for Gingerbread 3.0 and therefore has the potential for upgrades. Motorola's UI for Droid X has potential for most upgrades and ROMs.

i've had both phones...the fascinate is the one i stuck with and here are some of the reasons:

1) The Fascinates SuperAMOLED display is way better and more energy efficient than the LCD display on the DX.
2) Fascinates 5MP camera out performs the DX 8MP
3) You have to remove the battery on the DX to get to the microSD card, the Fascinate allows you to take it out while the phone is still on for a quick swap
4) Fascinate supports mult movie formats (avi, divX, mpeg-4, h.264, wma, and others), DX only supports mpeg-4 & h.264
5) Fascinate has a Gyroscope, DX doesn't
6) Fascinate isn't as bulky as DX

anyway these are just a few reasons. its all preference though. really its whatever floats your boat! :)

Had a Fascinate, love the keyboard and color screen, but had constant complaints from people that my voice sounded muffle on the other end. Also, at times I could not hear well on my end. I bought a second brand new Fascinate and it had the same problem so am not using a Droid X. Any way, the Fascinate had major speaker problems.

14. Facinate = poor voice quality (unregistered)

First Facinate I got I loved - but then noticed the incoming voice quality was poor. Speaker next to ear sounded like it was blown – sound was missing the deep tones and also sounded choppy at times. I listened to the same voice message on the new phone and then on my old phone, and on the old phone I can clearly hear echoes in the caller’s room – but they were absent from the sound on the new phone. Also overall quality was much worse. Got an identical phone, and it was a little better, but incoming voice still was bad, and my friends noticed my outgoing voice sounded a little choppy and certainly tinny. Did web research and found that others have this same problem with this phone. Love everything else about this device, but if you care about voice quality then I would not get this model. Will look at Motorola or an iPhone. Samsung was good to me for years, but I have to move on.
