REALLY GOOD PHONE!!! IT WAS ON ICS WHEN I BOUGHT IT(4.0.4) AND I UPGRADED IT TO JELLYBEAN (4.1.2). REALLY SNAPPY, LOADS APPS REALLY QUICK, MOST GAMES PLAY WITHOUT ANY SIGN OF LAG(EXCEPT ONE). THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT AFTER THE UPDATE TO JB, I COULD MAKE OR ANSWER CALLS, BUT THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO FIX WHEN I FACTORY RESETED THE DEVICE. HAVENT TESTED HOW WATERPROOF THE PHONE IS, BECAUSE THE "DOOR" FOR THE USB CABLE HAS BROKEN(ANYONE LOOKING TO BUY IT, NOTE THAT THE DOORS FOR THE PORTS BREAK EASILY).THE BUILD QUALITY IS EXCELLENT, THE SCREEN AND THE OVERALL SIZE IS JUST RIGHT, FILLS YOUR HAND WITHOUT BEEING TOO BIG.OVERALL GREAT PHONE I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE!

Three months.

simpsel has owned it for less than 3 months before publishing this review

So, a lovely phone with lovely design though may lose it's headphone and USB cover quite easilly.

It has had two updates since I've had it, in almost three months so I have it like a new gadget quite often...

And hmh, I don't really have anything to write here anymore, used the rating boxes already...

Anyway, I'd suggest this phone if you're looking for a decent phone with affordable pricetag since it's movie quality is great at least in picture, sound ain't top notch though.
Umm... It has quite a lot memory as in media storage and it doesn't really lag that much most of the time though bringing up phone keyboard for calling... It just takes a lot to start up at times and I'm done, I messed up the review text part, sorry. :D

Build quality 9/10 Phone's USB cover fell off from it's hinge so it's seperated from the phone though it's still usable at making phone waterproof. Looking forward for earphone lid falling off as well, though.
Reception 9/10 So far have had superb signal almost everywhere I've been to.
Call quality 9/10 Zero problems while making calls though it's better off calling with headphones on.
Internet 9/10 Network access almost everywhere, cool browser design with lot's of options and full screen availibility, it's still kind of slow though.
Multimedia 10/10 Love the picture gallery, video gallery and Sony Walkman music player.
Camera 8/10 Great camera that handles great lower light scenes though camera has to think a bit before taking picture so action photography is not so much of an option.
UI speed 8/10 So far fast enough even after updating to 4.1.2 though when trying to make a call it has taken even minute or two to open phonebook and it's a bit absurd since phones are made for calling and it just doesn't take that that well.
Everyday usage 10/10 Handles my needs and doesn't make me complain, really, though it may freeze at times or just lose it's ability to make sounds before having a restart.
Text input 10/10 Has frozen and lagged a few times yet works superbly most of the time, keyboard has it's slight adjustments and it's handy so no complaints here.
Display 10/10 So far so good - has great colours and with higher baclight is visible outdoors, light sensor.. Nothing bad to say about it. :D
Battery 5/10 Usually battery lasts longer but there are times when I just chat while listening to music and it can lead to losing about 30% battery or more in hour or so - seems a bit much to survive a day though having charger around makes it seem rather small problem not to mention update brings STAMINA around. :D

Pros

  • Easy to use.
  • Great interior and exterior design.
  • Flashlight option with app included.
  • Waterproof.
  • Good enough camera for everyday use.
  • Loop for safety strap.
  • Updateable to 4.1.2.
  • Notification LED.
  • Sony Walkman lockscreen widget.
  • Enough memory for installing more than one game.

sony xperia go is good phone for its body , processor and Smartphone with dust and water resistant Sony's first rugged handset since ditching Ericsson as its mobile phone partner, the Sony Xperia Go has taken a number of design hints from its fellow Android-filled, Xperia-branded siblings, lining up with an appealing aesthetic that detracts from the hard-wearing rugged nature of the svelte smartphone.
Despite being IP67 certified - meaning it is dust-proof and can be submerged up to 1m underwater for as long as 30 minutes without damage, the Sony Xperia Go is a slim, compact phone that lines up at a minimalist 9.8mm thick and 110g in weight, just 0.5mm thicker than the smartphone-defining Apple iPhone 4S and considerably lighter than a number of its similarly priced lower mid-market rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.

Build issues, poor earphone, and below par display

rayaz has owned it for less than month before publishing this review

Brought it as the second phone for rugged use, but the mic suddenly became very faint and kicked out. The mic test confirms its working (very faintly) and then from the sony forum i found this is a common problem with the phone and is hardware and software related. The speakerphone is also not very loud.

The phone is nicely sized, and wider screen makes it an usable 3.5" (unlike the narrow format of the Xperia Ray) and though the resolution is lower than most other Xperia phones in this price range, 480x320 is workable.

However Sony's woes with their ICS update has made almost all their phones suffer, and shame on that.

Build quality 5/10
Reception 6/10
Call quality 3/10
Internet 5/10
Multimedia 4/10 Below par speakerphone performance and lack of full support for codecs
Camera 7/10
UI speed 6/10
Everyday usage 6/10
Text input 6/10
Display 5/10
Battery 5/10

Pros

  • Water Proofing
  • Design
  • Decent Display Resolution
  • Dual Core hardware
  • Decent camera

Cons

  • Speakerphone low volume
  • Mic very faint
  • Software issues
  • ICS update only for the brave

Smartphone with dust and water resistant
*Sony's first rugged handset since ditching Ericsson as its mobile phone partner, the Sony Xperia Go has taken a number of design hints from its fellow Android-filled, Xperia-branded siblings, lining up with an appealing aesthetic that detracts from the hard-wearing rugged nature of the svelte smartphone.

Build quality 9/10 material is rugged and durable ,surely its not cheap, feels nice and comfortable in hand and its thin....9.8mm!!
Reception 9/10 at the beginning there was problem in reception ,but now after firmware up gradation its back on track
Call quality 10/10 Call quality is good
Internet 9/10 speed is nice and cool ,thanks to dual core processor ,loading of the flash contents is nice
Multimedia 10/10 Gallery and the music player is excellent ,xloud makes loud speaker sounds crisp and clear,3D surround sound, sensme are simply adorable!!
Camera 9/10 5mp cam is nice ,but lacks in picture quality compared to sola and xperia u ,but the 720p HD recording is awesome !!!!
UI speed 9/10 UI speed is fast and responsive to the touch,RAM is not 1GB ,but still its managable
Everyday usage 10/10 This is the phone for everyday usuage.Water, dust resistant IP 67 certified. So not at all a problem during rains or travelling in desert or whatever .
Text input 9/10 3.5 inch display is bit small in portrait mode in qwerty typing but in landscape there is no problem at all
Display 8/10 165 ppi is the only disadvantage of the phone ,which lacks in small font clarity in browser but the mobile BRAVIA ENGINE makes the movie experience exquisite.
Battery 10/10 1300mAh battery is good ,i used most of the time for browsing and checking mails and it came for one whole day,and the charging time is less as well...

Pros

  • water and dust resistant
  • dual core 1Ghz processor
  • HD video recording is excleent
  • nice call quality
  • headphone effect and 3D surround is very good
  • Bravia engine

Cons

  • 165 ppi :(
  • 512 mb RAM
  • Comes with 2.3.7 gingerbread, but anyhow it is upgradable to ICS
  • no front facing camera
