Phone running too hot - battery perf. very poor

vassilis (unregistered) posted on 24 Jul 2011, 07:30

I have this phone for little over a month now. I'm very happy with the display and performance, but...

The phone runs very hot occasionally. It gets up to 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit) after an hour of web browsing, or playing angry birds.

Battery life is also extremely poor. On standby the phone bearly lasts 3 days (nothing compared to the 437 hours phonearena mentions as average.

I really hope these are firmware issues that Samsung will fix promptly. Otherwise, these alone are enough to ruin a very good phone.

2-3 days standby is pretty standard for smartphones.
One of the biggest battery killers is signal strength. the worse the signal, the more battery will be consumed.
this is caused by the fact that the phone will increase its RF output to compensate for lower signal strength. (same goes for any other phone). wifi, bluetooth etc. will also shorten your standby time if they are enabled.
