Different versions of GalaxyS2?

How to know which S2 is the newest released phone and what possible version are?

I wanted to buy a phone from a guy and he brought two Samsung Galaxy S2 with different size boxes. One looked normal, another box was smaller and it was additional written 1,2Ghz. What does that mean?

Also, was SGS2 realease with Android 2? or only Android 4?

I want to buy the newest version of it. The shops also can have the old one still in sales... But i want to be sure i buy the newest.
