For how long will the Galaxy S3 keep getting Android updates?

I'm thinking of getting the Galaxy Nexus, just because it's a Nexus Device and would always get the latest Android updates, but it's way too outdated now. So I considered buying the Galaxy S3, but it won't keep getting Android updates, I won't be able to keep buying new phones, it's just this one that I can get any phone I want and get stuck with it!
So I was thinking for how long will the Galaxy S3 keep getting Android updates?

*Do Nexus devices keep getting Android updates no matter how old they are, I mean if I have a Nexus One will I still be able to update my OS to like Android 6.1 ???

Samsung need to pressure the cell carriers to STOP limiting and tier charging for data, otherwise the smart phone revolution is over and so is the rise of the hardware vendors.
