Rooted phone on AT&T services

stephan (unregistered) posted on 24 Sep 2011, 22:15

Hi guys, just a quick question,
the T-mobile is a 4.5 and the att is a 4.3 inch screen.

From the spec I see that everything is similar, so my question is as follow, can I use the Tmobile version of the phone on the ATT network and still get the HSPA+ (4G) connectivity?

Yes and no. If the phone was UNLOCKED (which it is not) you could use it on AT&T however it you won't get 3G or 4G you will get 2G (AKA Edge). It doesn't have AT&T's 3G & 4G band.

Actually Ed, It will get AT&T 3G.... Look at the frequencies on spec on TMobile website.... Thanks for punching in tho.

I meant after I root the phone.
so here is the deal, I got the S2 from At&t and I am about to root it. when I put a tmobile sim card in it, what's going to happen? they are both quad band according to phonearena if I understand correctly. 850, 900, 1800, 1900, also for the UMTS the only difference is the 1900 for ATT and 1700 for Tmobile.
Bob you said that I will get 3g, but why won't I get hspa+?
