Does any body know how to make the alarm ring while the phone is switched of?

Hello. Just put it on flight mode. Unfortunately I was told that this is a common problem of quite a few smartphones (galaxy ace, galaxy S, sony ericsson experia series etc). So they suggested the flight mode. I recently bought my galaxy ace and I have a question too; how can I put my own sound on the alarm clock? is there any way? I created files (ringtones, notifications) but they do not apply for the sounds of the alarm clock...
