Samsung Galaxy S Advance i9070 is having serious issues in Hong Kong

I bought one on June 1 in Hong Kong and the phone has stopped responding once or twice a day ever since. Took it to the service centre on June 8 and Samsung replaced the mainboard and the display but the symptom persisted. A complaint letter was sent to Samsung Hong Kong but they have not responded to me up to the time of this writing despite the many follow up calls to their customer service hotline. Further searches on the web suggested that I am not the only one who has this problem.

The phone went down twice yesterday and I had a chance to investigate what could be happening using DDMS in the Android SDK. While the phone appeared to be switched off and not responding to any button being pressed, all the processes were actually running. From logcat, I could see messages regarding the light sensor, accelerometer and buttons pressed. The only way to get the phone working again is by pulling the battery and it will run flawlessly until the next hang up.

Until now, there is no next step from Samsung Hong Kong.

Samsung has arranged to replace my i9070 with a new one and it will arrive within this week. I hope this mishap is just an isolated case as I do think the Galaxy S Advance is good value for money in terms of performance and display quality.

I have the same problem with my Samsung I-9070 phone. It hangs and would not respond. Holding on to the power switch for a while, the phone will reboot. I had it replaced and the replacement has the same issue.

Seems that are some serious problem with the I-9070. Samsung HK was of no help at all.

Don't buy the Samsung S Advance I-9070. It is a piece of trash!

I had success fully updated my cell to android 4.1.2 and it is working fine. But suddenly I found the brightness control does not work and the screen is very bright even in auto mode. Would somebody help me urgenly please.
