Awesome

aniallation has owned it for more than one year before publishing this review

Great phone. Built really well. Excellent signal reception. Really good build quality. Thin and light. Splash resistant. Camera is okay quality, as with the screen and battery life. OS was really buggy and slow but Jelly Bean update is way better. Internal storage is a chore. Uses single partition to store apps and data like Nexus devices but is only about 2.5GB and no way to move apps so internal memory is full after only downloading two games and nothing else.

Build quality 10/10 Dropped it many times from ear height, spilled water on it twice, dropped it in a tray of paint, still working perfectly. Gorilla glass screen doesn't even have any noticeable scratches. Nor does the Kevlar back. Thing feels like a leaf but built like a tank
Reception 10/10 Excellent signal reception. Motorola probably has second highest signal reception of any phone brand only bested by BlackBerry in my experiences.
Call quality 9/10 Good quality sound. Speakerphone can get a bit tinny.
Internet 8/10 Stock browser not too shabby. Can install Flash player. Pretty much AOSP browser. Nothing special
Multimedia 8/10 No stock music app, uses Google Play music. Built in sound effects equalizer has only small effect but surround sound effects are excellent. Makes listening to music and movies really fun with both stereo speakers and headphones.
Camera 7/10 Camera is meh. Pictures turn out alright. Can be quite noisy and grainy at times, and look good at others. Videos are about the same. Not really much noticeable quality difference between 480p, 720p and 1080p. Especially between 720 and 1080.
UI speed 8/10 ICS ran terrible. Really buggy and slow. Frequent crashes. Jelly Bean update seems to have fixed it all. Project butter lives up to it's name.
Everyday usage 8/10 It's a smartphone. Not for superphone class power users. If you install a lot of apps, this isn't the phone for you. It will drive you nuts. If you're just a casual user, it'll be fine.
Text input 6/10 Awkward stock keyboard. Keys are ridiculously tall for some reason. Otherwise stock AOSP keyboard. Just use Google Keyboard.
Display 9/10 Normal everyday qHD 4.3 inch display. Not bad, but not great. Gorilla Glass does wonders though. Very difficult to accidentally break, holds up to scratches super well. Rarely attracts lots of fingerprints and when it does they wipe off with no effort whatsoever.
Battery 7/10 Average battery. Again not the worst but not great by any means. About 5-6 hours talk time. 6 hours 720p video playback, 4-5 hours 3D gameplay

Pros

  • Build quality, kevlar backing feels and looks cool
  • Gorilla Glass is just amazing
  • Reception just blows away any Samsung, HTC, etc
  • ColorBoost display looks really good, but still no excuse for low DPI
  • MicroSD Card slot
  • USB OTG support
  • Very lightly skinned UI. Leads to a smooth, fast and fluid experience

Cons

  • Small internal memory, 4GB with about 2.2GB useable
  • No way to move apps to SD card
  • Terrible software updates, as with almost all Motorolas
  • Camera is a noisy
  • No NFC
  • No HDMI
  • Wierdly slow for an OMAP4430. Galaxy Nexus feels 3x faster and uses same processor.
  • No removable battery

Reliable

SonofJohn has owned it for less than year before publishing this review

This phone is tough and reliable. It is not the most fashionable and when my employer handed these out to the team as work phones I wasn't disappointed as I have a Nexus, but definitely not thrilled either. As time has gone by. This phone has served well. Granted US Cellular's service is abysmal, but everything else about this phone is quite snappy. Photos look rough but gaming is fun on the bigger screen. Browsing the internet for quick how to's or tips and tricks, were a cinch and as such I have grown fond of this phone. It's not trendy, but it actually is, specification wise, better than most androids out there. I have dropped this thing on concrete many times, and I'm 6'4". This phone doesn't have a scratch on it.

Build quality 10/10
Reception 8/10 DId get some dropped calls frequently. Thanks US Cellular.
Call quality 9/10 When I got a reliable signal. Sound quality was top notch. And no one ever complained about not hearing or understanding me.
Internet 4/10 Sucks, plain and simple.
Multimedia 8/10 Lots of options here.
Camera 7/10 Average. Nothing special.
UI speed 9/10 Pretty snappy even without Jelly Bean's Project Butter.
Everyday usage 10/10
Text input 7/10 The keyboard seems a bit small to me on this screen but maybe it's just my big hands.
Display 9/10 bright and clear with good colors. Horrible glare in direct sunlight though.
Battery 9/10 Above average given the size of it.

Pros

  • Reliable and tough.

Cons

  • US Cellular's crappy 3g service
