Send/Receive texts using phone from a computer

I have the LG Cosmos and no data package, but, I have some friends I chat extensively with (that's why I wanted the full qwerty keyboard).

Is it possible to connect my phone to my computer and use the computer to send/receive texts? Using the phone/SMS?

PS - I know there are other ways of accomplishing this task, but I have no internet access on the computer and I have no internet/data access on the phone - so this needs to be SMS through the phone. I just would rather use my computer's keyboard :-)
