No "Unknown Source" option for install apps

ATT has had HTC to not install the "Unknown Sources" option in Setting for installing apps. This means you will be unable to install independent apps that are not sold through the Android Market or the ATT store. This restricts you to the Android Market much like the iPhone is restricted to the Apple itunes store. You will not have access to any apps that are developed for unique purposes in the future.

The tech savvy will "root" their handsets and get around the limitation.
The non-tech savvy will hardly notice the limitation.
The upside in this policy is that a limited source can be heavily screened for malicious code. Many do financial work through their smart phone and ATT is protecting their liability as well as their user base by imposing the limitation.
