Techsmart owner tries Chinese "BMW" class phone

Cantravel has owned it for less than month before publishing this review

Just got this a week ago in Canada. First unit sold at the dealer of this model which had just arrived.
Compared it with SIII, Nexus, LG Optimus and RaZR and figured it had the best balance of screen size, overall size, memory (32G SD and 8G internal), and most of all battery size/life. After using it and grabbing several apps, it met all my expectations and more!
Lastly, each of the other high end phones had at least 1 significant downside (or dealbreaker) that did not exist in this phone.

Build quality 9/10 Solid feel. Internals well put together, allowing for cost effective design
Reception 9/10 Hard to measure without test gear, but signal quality is as good as Sam S3 or Blackberry in underground buildings
Call quality 9/10 Not tinny like most phones, sounds "solid and clean"
Internet 10/10 Fast on all 3 browsers I tried, whether on Edge or Wifi
Multimedia 9/10 Excellent on audio and video apps, fast, and clear
Camera 8/10 Ease of use, easy to access functions and zoom via audio level is in the right place for smooth zooming. Fast focus, average picture quality
UI speed 10/10 Seeb other tech reviews showing this phonr matches or beats all other recent high end smartphones in benchmarks
Everyday usage 10/10 Clean, uncluttered physical design and screen interface. The thicker size and rounded textured back make it easy to hold without worrying about it slipping and dropping it. The extra thickness is totally worth it also for the great battery life
Text input 10/10 Works fine in usual Android typing screens and HTC own variant
Display 9/10 Very good, but not wuite up to best Amoled. resolution is great and easy on the eyes.
Battery 10/10

Pros

  • Nice size, big enough screen, but easy to fit in a case on belt or in your pocket. The larger 4.7" + phones are just too big.

Cons

  • None, except waiting for "Jelly Bean" upgrade

Good phone for the price

Tavo79 has owned it for less than month before publishing this review

I have bought this phone wondering if it was better than Samsung Galaxy S3, but it isn't. It's quite similar for a few bucks less. Has the right size, better display and a great battery.
There are no ROM modds around, so you will have to stick with a plain ICS Android.

Build quality 8/10 It's made of plastic. Soft on the sides, and make a little noise.
Reception 9/10 Good enough
Call quality 8/10
Internet 9/10 Connects to wifi and 3g very fast
Multimedia 8/10
Camera 7/10 it's not good for a 8 megapixels camera. Not a camera phone.
UI speed 9/10
Everyday usage 9/10
Text input 9/10
Display 9/10 IPS quality!
Battery 10/10

Pros

  • Battery life!

Cons

  • Build materials

Simple review of Ascend D1 Quad XL

xjarl has owned it for less than month before publishing this review

I got it last week. Busy to write a review.exactly, I like it very much!
Quad Core K3V2,Play games smoothly.
Feel good when you keep it in hand since the back shell material is anti-slip.
OS is android4.0.4, But you can have a try emotion UI--Huawei developed for Ascend P1,P1 XL,Ascend D1/D1 Quad XL.And now developing for Honor.
Root easily. I dont like a phone locked..So, Rooted 20 minutes after got it.
Customized apps very little.
You need to install GMS if you buy it from China. Then you can download apps, games from Google play store.
Price Reference:
Official price: 2699RMB($434)
Price on aliexpress:$499 free shipping
fulcrumall.com: $485 free shipping

Build quality 9/10 Quite satisfactory design. Will be better if it is support Dual SIM Dual Standby and Dual call...
Reception 9/10 Xiaomi M2 Still havent release out. Just test phones.
Call quality 10/10 clearly.. very clearly
Internet 10/10 Wi-Fi,3G are very good.
Multimedia 10/10 Dolby digital plus&HDMI out put.
Camera 9/10 8.0MP camera... normally. If it is 13MP,perfect :)
UI speed 10/10 smoothly.. Im trying to get emotion UI to test now.
Everyday usage 10/10 Yeah, Easy..
Text input 9/10 You need to install your local input method. Because Huawei input method just support English and Chinese
Display 10/10 gorilla glass...What else i can say?
Battery 9/10 2600mAh, built in. Standby and Talking time are ok. But if you play games too much, battery is not enough...

Pros

  • K3V2 Quad Core,Dolby digital plus
  • 4.5inch screen,feeling good

Cons

  • Battery cant removeable
  • Price a little high
