Samsung Galaxy J4 Core, the company's second Android Go phone, leaks in full
Compared to the Android One program, which has significantly expanded and boosted its global appeal over the past year or so, the Android Go lineup of ultra-low-cost smartphones running a software platform specifically designed for modest hardware is growing at a slower pace.

There are still only a handful of these devices officially available stateside, although the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core is also rumored to join that group before long. The world’s top smartphone vendor is working on a larger and slightly better version of its first Android Go phone too, fittingly dubbed Galaxy J4 Core.

While we have no idea if this thing is supposed to arrive in the US anytime soon, a user manual can already be downloaded from Samsung’s dedicated website, suggesting a formal announcement is indeed right around the corner.

Even better, it seems a Brazilian retailer may have jumped the gun with the full Samsung Galaxy J4 Core details and some high-quality product renders. The price tag is, however, not mentioned, and the 6-inch device cannot be ordered or pre-ordered just yet.

In addition to substantially more screen real estate, the J4 Core looks set to upgrade the resolution of the J2 Core’s 5-inch display from 960 x 540 to a slightly more eye-pleasing 1480 x 720 pixels.

That also means the outdated 16:9 aspect ratio will be replaced by a tall 2:1, with thinner bezels all around, although not exactly “Infinity Display” material. Under the hood, a Snapdragon 430 processor is expected to take the place of Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7570 silicon, with the same 1GB RAM in tow, as well as upgraded 16 gigs of internal storage space.

If that sounds underwhelming by 2018 standards, you may want to remember Android Oreo (Go edition) software is built with even humbler specs in mind, including a number of pre-installed Google apps aimed at saving power, memory, data, and storage, as well as optimize general device performance.

Thus, you shouldn’t be too disappointed about the 3,300 mAh battery of the Galaxy J4 Core either, while the 8MP rear and 5MP front cameras... indeed feel a little discouraging for bargain-hunting shutterbugs.
