iPod Touch gets some possible specs
It seems pretty likely that we're going to be seeing the announcement of the new line of iPods at tomorrow's Apple announcement, along with the announcement for the new iPhone, but that doesn't stop the rumor mill from churning out ideas on what to expect from the new iPod Touch. Unfortunately, there isn't really a lot of information to go on.

Mobile consultant Will Strafach claims that the new iPod Touch will feature display that Apple will no doubt tag with the "Retina Display" marketing, with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels. The new iPod Touch is also expected to have a 32-nanometer A5 processor which is the same as the processor found in the 2nd generation iPad 2. The iPhone 4S and the original iPad 2 had 45-nanometer A5 chips, but the iPad 2 that was released at a lower price along with the new iPad had the 32-nanometer A5.

If this does turn out to be true, it would make it more likely that the new iPod Touch could also get Siri

Why not the ipad 3 processor ? This will just be a tad more improvement over the ipod touch 4th generation.

Probably because Apple still wants to hit that $199 price point

Take the fruit logo off the back and suddenly it gets to the $199 price point.

I think the a5x eats up too much battery , more expensive to make and the touch doesn't need that graphics + doesn't have the resolution of the new iPad

well ,basicly A5 and A5x share same processor ...but they dont share same GPU which is more powerfful and more power hungry in A5x ..and with that resolution the ipod wont need that power so better save some battery life

or it might have watever the new iphone will have inside ..but i highly doubt it as it is cheaper ..and they will have to keep their high profit margin

Thank you, some news on an Apple product I actually use! This is great to hear, I've been waiting to replace my iPod Touch 4th gen ever since it started to get less than 6 hours of battery life with average use. Hopefully it will get a new design as well, since I don't enjoy the mirrored aluminum back that the current one has. One thing I do appreciate Apple for, is their iPods. A bump in the RAM wouldn't hurt as well, 512 MB at least.

Isn't it pretty typical of apple to just continue there tiny improvements instead of making large advancements in there products? Seriously why even bother and for the fan boys its nice to see you support child labor against there will. Apple did start a nice line of products and soon even there tablet line will be out done by the newer android tablets coming to market. So what's apple got left? Oh wait just sit back and sue everyone that's how they will stay in business. Well until Samsung gets done with the over the lte suit that will be filed tomorrow after apples event.

Good enough. A great screen. Very very decent graphics. A proccessor fast enough for ios to run buttery smooth. Hopefully a better camera. Am buying this.

If there's a new iPod touch for $200 how will it sell if apple still releases a $200 iPad mini??
