iPhone OS 3.1.2 is released to kill bugs dead
Apple has released iPhone OS 3.1.2 which fixes a few bugs in the device. One issue that is supposed to be fixed is a problem that sometimes would not let the iPhone wake up from sleep mode (no, it is not contagious to humans!). Also resolved is the problem where the cellular network would occasionally get interrupted until the phone was restarted. Lastly, a bug that crashed the unit during video streaming also was removed. Besides those three bugs, other minor things were fixed. An AT&T carrier update was included with OS 3.1.2, which brings that version to 5.6. So hook up your iPhone with iTunes, grab the updated OS and after you install it on your phone, let us know if you see any changes.

Funny thing, I was actually going to restore my iPhone yesterday evening (due to non-stop locking up), then noticed an update when I entered iTunes that was 'supposed' to fix the locking up issues that I was having since the 3.1 update. I'm happy to say that I haven't had any glitches on my device since the update.... Hope it stays that way!

The only problem I have is receiving MMS from other mobile devices that have a larger MP camera then the iPhone 3gs such as the BlackBerry Tour....any other mobile device that have a smaller or same MP camera as the iPhone 3gs I receive fine!... anybody else have this problem?

Since Verizon is in the AIR ...what's going to happen to all the iPhone haters once the iPhone comes to verizon? yup they will be waiting in those longggg lines...if it ever lands with """America's Largest and Most Reliable Wireless Network""" which is false when you do a side-by-side comparison with Verizon super slow web browser and iPhone super fast Safari! face it! nothing will never come close to being as fast as the iPhone.

What are you talking about? Verizon is more reliable unlike AT&T. The iPhone safari browser is fast but what about when you make calls? Depending on what part of the country you are in, they probably drop like crazy. Anyways, there are tons of phones that are faster than the iphone including ones that are on Verizon and probably even AT&T. If Verizon gets the iphone, AT&T is going to lose a lot of customers.

I agree the biggest concern is reception ...if that is important to you... I just made the switch to AT&T from being a 4 year customer of VZW and have had every Smartphone, PDA..etc... from HTC, LG, to Samsung and so on! none of those can even come close to being as fast and dependable as the iPhone.... everything around you is iPhone and 90% of all companies now have iPhone Apps as we all know....and my reception status is same as VZW I get the same dropped calls in the same areas I get the same amount of bars as I did with VZW. All devices have their flaws but once you get a hold of an iPhone you go 99% flawless and it's only going to get better.

what are you smoking. opera 5.0 browser blows the safari browser out of the park. it's like being on wifi. i use the full site for facebook, it's that fast. i would never use an iphone even if it was given to me for free...i'm baffled as to how many people hate the storm. i love the touchscreen, i bet i can type faster than all you tour users. it has autocomplete which helps a lot :-).

Whoever posted this comment needs to go get fixed so they never reproduce.

CC16177, Did you seriously just comment on a story from 8 months ago? Idiot.

I'm just speaking off my experience with my iPhone...and opera 5.0 for what device? I bet opera is its best feature...you cant do nothing with whatever device you have.... Blackberry sucks! the reason why all these new touch screen devices by blackberry, htc, samsung, lg fail is because they are trying to hard to make it come close to an iPhone...nothing will never come close...again its Apple and just like in the computing world Apple dominates!!! And yes you would take a free iPhone anyday...

11. vzw fanman posted on 09 Oct 2009, 18:06

no i would definitly not take an iphone because i see no reason why i would have to switch from my storm to an iphone. opera 5.0 for my storm bro. the storm is an awesome phone and is better than the iphone. i can do just as much with my storm if not more than your iphone.

12. lxmndza posted on 09 Oct 2009, 18:17

Yea the storm is cute...I prefer brains over beauty! but again..it's been proven by..cnet, engadget, phonearena, crackberry...that the iPhone blows the Storm away! So how is the wifi on your Storm?

13. vzw fanman posted on 09 Oct 2009, 18:41

i don't need wifi with opera mini 5.0. and wait till the storm 2 comes out :-). i just found out the storm 2 comes with a pre-installed 16gb card too! how is your removable memory on the iphone coming along bud?

15. Trendygirlx23 (unregistered) posted on 09 Oct 2009, 21:56

The iphone is a good phone but it fails because it is missing so many basic features. I hate that it doesn't have removable memory. The iphone just got MMS...that is pretty pathetic. I could go on and on about all the things that it is missing from that phone.

16. lxmndza posted on 10 Oct 2009, 12:33

haha...well I really don't care about removable storage and I back up on my computer anyhow, even when I had a BlackBerry. By the way I am sure removable storage will will come to the iPhone! along with a few amazing features in the iPhone 4gS! Apple has the technology to build the ultimate iPhone...but what would be next for them? nothing... it all about the money. And the fact that iPhone just got MMS was not an Apple issue but an AT&T issue, the iPhone always supported it.

exactly why gayt&t lives up to its name brotha.

19. trentsinmypants posted on 11 Oct 2009, 11:23

vzw fanman, im not trying to be a dick or anything, but can you cut it out with the gayt&t comments? It offends me and im straight. Its like using the "N" word over and over and over.....it slowly annoys you until you have to voice your opinion about it.....just relax, grow up, and ease up on the "GayT&T" thing......

22. vzw fanman posted on 11 Oct 2009, 18:15

it isn't even close to the n word dude. everyone knows what gay means in that context so it shouldn't offend anyone. using the n word in any context is just not right.
