0. phoneArena 14 Sep 2012, 08:48 posted on

At 12AM EST today, Apple initiated its preorders for the iPhone 5. Originally scheduled to ship on September 21, it turns out some user might have to wait a bit longer in order to receive their new handset...

Interesting that you are now REQUIRED to change data plans (I have the unlimited) even though you want to do a full purchase.

What happend to no change in data plans if you do a full purchase price of the phone?

If you are buying it on VZW and paying full retail, you should be able to keep your unlimited data...is it not allowing that for pre-orders? (not that I am buying one, I am just curious for when it comes time for my new Android something or other)

Yeah it's not coming up as being able to keep your existing family/individual plans.

I would call them up instead of ordering online to avoid losing your grandfathered unlimited. There's no guarantee they could bring it back.

So the initial 750000 units are already sold out, innovation at its best
But then again you can pick up some at the stores, there will be plenty
I will be reading all about it on my SGS3......
Now on to the next big thing The Galaxy note 2

Yes, 750,000. The numbers that analysts will be popping out at the end of the quarter will be greater than the sales of all S3's and Note 2's combined, but those numbers will be lies, right?

is ok the almighty S3 will be discounted by year ends.. they had a good run ... but always short... in sales

Then all the more reason to get one then. Getting more for so much less. Of course you could still pay premium price for the iphone5. Apple will appreciate your $$$

Combined? Wrong. Either S3 or Note 2, probably, but outselling both those combined will be a huge feat, even for Apple. You should look at current sales records before making such comments.

you should wait for at least the Note 2 to have a release date before you assume things

It's not an assumption, it's basing a statement on the success of the first model, which wasn't as good as the second version. That and knowing how many S3's were sold.

I won't say I am shocked by this, but I will say I expected more people to pass on this since the phone itself has not really changed much. If the 4 and 4s are being updated to iOS6, it makes no sense to go for the 5 with its minor updates to hardware. Apple has one hell of a following and as usual, it appears those followers lack some common sense. Or maybe they just $h*t money!

Android does well outside US. Europe and Asia and China. Samsung beat Apple in China last month. Apple is pretty good but Android is more user friendly and for everyone. Android is a natural fit for most people in the World. Apple will always lose to Android. Litigation is the only Apple will win. Waiting for Note2. Will monitor Apple 5 and see if it is twice as fast for a second phone. Android is first choice.

Gaytor I would have to disagree with Android being more user friendly. iOS and WP7 are both far more user friendly then Android is. That being said I think Android is a far better os then iOS is and agree with everything else.
