iPhone 5 sold out, shipping date pushed back

0. phoneArena 14 Sep 2012, 08:48 posted on

At 12AM EST today, Apple initiated its preorders for the iPhone 5. Originally scheduled to ship on September 21, it turns out some user might have to wait a bit longer in order to receive their new handset...

Interesting that you are now REQUIRED to change data plans (I have the unlimited) even though you want to do a full purchase.

What happend to no change in data plans if you do a full purchase price of the phone?

If you are buying it on VZW and paying full retail, you should be able to keep your unlimited data...is it not allowing that for pre-orders? (not that I am buying one, I am just curious for when it comes time for my new Android something or other)

Yeah it's not coming up as being able to keep your existing family/individual plans.

I would call them up instead of ordering online to avoid losing your grandfathered unlimited. There's no guarantee they could bring it back.

So the initial 750000 units are already sold out, innovation at its best
But then again you can pick up some at the stores, there will be plenty
I will be reading all about it on my SGS3......
Now on to the next big thing The Galaxy note 2

Yes, 750,000. The numbers that analysts will be popping out at the end of the quarter will be greater than the sales of all S3's and Note 2's combined, but those numbers will be lies, right?

is ok the almighty S3 will be discounted by year ends.. they had a good run ... but always short... in sales

Then all the more reason to get one then. Getting more for so much less. Of course you could still pay premium price for the iphone5. Apple will appreciate your $$$

Combined? Wrong. Either S3 or Note 2, probably, but outselling both those combined will be a huge feat, even for Apple. You should look at current sales records before making such comments.

you should wait for at least the Note 2 to have a release date before you assume things

It's not an assumption, it's basing a statement on the success of the first model, which wasn't as good as the second version. That and knowing how many S3's were sold.

I won't say I am shocked by this, but I will say I expected more people to pass on this since the phone itself has not really changed much. If the 4 and 4s are being updated to iOS6, it makes no sense to go for the 5 with its minor updates to hardware. Apple has one hell of a following and as usual, it appears those followers lack some common sense. Or maybe they just $h*t money!

Android does well outside US. Europe and Asia and China. Samsung beat Apple in China last month. Apple is pretty good but Android is more user friendly and for everyone. Android is a natural fit for most people in the World. Apple will always lose to Android. Litigation is the only Apple will win. Waiting for Note2. Will monitor Apple 5 and see if it is twice as fast for a second phone. Android is first choice.

Gaytor I would have to disagree with Android being more user friendly. iOS and WP7 are both far more user friendly then Android is. That being said I think Android is a far better os then iOS is and agree with everything else.

Never ending fight between Android fans and Iphone fans while WP fans have just come into play... just stop fighting and relax for a while...

Android Fans : Not all Iphone users are sheeps...Apple is an ecosystem...like android...some guys might have invested heavily on itunes( might have bought music or apps ). They just can't leave the apple ecosystem suddenly...some people might have really liked this phone... Give them a break...You had your chance Note 2...GS III....One X...xperia series...Jelly Bean...everything is awesome...so just rejoice with it...

Apple Users : Iphone 5 is definetely a upgrade over current smartphone...but it's nothing innovative... Get over with it...accept it... But what's wrong in that... If you like it...just buy it and be happy for what you got...

WP Fans:Dude...u had your best shot...Lumia 920 is definetely innovative... Be proud of that...but it still has cons...like no sd slot...bad design...The point is no device is perfect...stop criticising other devices...Be happy with your choice...

For all...Stop fighting...just think...you got what you expected...buy the device of your choice...There is no perfect device out there... Everything has pros and cons... It's just a matter of personal Opinions...

A con is no sd slot so it's a bad design? You know that slows down boot and load times having one right? You think Ice cream would have a boot like it does on the older cpu's? Sorry this isn't going to happen at all. I'm happy MS said screw the sd slot. Who the hell even uses one anymore?

Yes I do know..it slows down...but in some countries where they don't have public wifi...people rely on storage options rather than on cloud... My music would be around 5-7 gb...videos eat up 2-3 gb of my note... and I'm left with 1 gb of my internal memory(11 gb usable memory on my note )... Now a days...games are more memory hungry...asphalt alone eats 1+gb...few games would set me running for additional SD card... I use 16 gb sd card along with internal memory and i barely manage to get some space...Thinking of upgrading to 64 gb sd card. It's always a convineance for user...Anyway it's just my opinion :-)

This morning i spent over an hour on hold with apples customer service. They reassure me that i would be getting my phone on the 21st. I pre ordered my phone within the first 30 minutes of it stating but it was still giving me a 2 week shipping date. I just checked my apple account and they ship date has now changed to "deliver on 9/21" SO all of you out there that did an early pre order can now exhale a little bit. Even though your conformation email still says "2 weeks delivery" Log onto your apple account and click on "View order history" and you should see the newly changed ETA ship date. Those of you who waited until late this morning to order one, you are probably going to have to wait the full 1-2 weeks.
Hope this helps.

In the mobile world, cores and megapixels mean almost nothing, to a certain extent. The dual-core variant of the One X benchmarked higher than the quad-core global version. The iPhone 4's 5 MP camera was better than most 8 MP cameras on the market at the time. The numbers associated with specs don't mean as much as the technology behind them.

I assume you're talking about the LG Optimus G, with it's quad S4 Pro processor and 13 MP camera, which is REALLY good. But soon, in 2 months the next Nexus will come out, and it just might sport a dual-core OMAP 5 processor, that will probably slap around the S4 Pro quad. Also, there might be multiple Nexus, of which the Sony one will probably be equipped with a 13 MP camera that (even though they have the same MP count) will deliver better images and video than the Optimus G's camera; because Sony typically has the best optics in smartphones (except for Nokia).

*facepalm*

Initial shipments are sold out. This does NOT mean "ohmigod there are no more iPhones" it means that you have to wait another week to get the phone. Seriously not the end of the world.

Apple does this on purpose to build up hype just like with the 4S, the 4 for Verizon, etc etc etc....

In my Iconic Order system for Verizon ship dates for orders currently show as the 28th.

Yes, you have to wait another week to get your amazing "revolutionary" iPhone. I promise you won't die. Promise!
