iPhone 5: 10 very likely new features

0. phoneArena posted on 10 Sep 2012, 07:02

The new iPhone is right around the corner now. Apple has officially confirmed its September 12 event, so it's pretty much inevitable. By the end of the week, we'll know everything about the iPhone 5 and more. But one thing has been very different this year - the rumors we're hearing are quite consistent...

Yes, they will change everything, they will take those steps that no one has taken before.
A bigger screen, LTE, NFC, a better than VGA camera and a gigantic 1440 mAh battery.
It's so innovative!

I think you're right. PA loves iphone. PA loves and the other companies fear. I read that Motorola and Nokia will antecipate the announce of the new smartphones. I think they are trying to stop Apple from taking even more market share. These guys are desperate! Source:http://loveinireland.info/newsfeed/iphone
PS: Nokia rocks!!

47. snowgator posted on 10 Sep 2012, 13:23 1 1

Apple drives hits and controversies. PA ain't stupid. If every iPhone and Apple VS. Android article get 55 to 100 responses and maybe three times as many hits, WHY would they stop the articles? The iPhone 5 will be a monster hit, Android, WP, and BlackBerry users will still not get it due to the lack of actual improvements over anything out there, and the flame wars will ignite like dry timber.

When Apple is releasing new products, everyone in the tech web site universe eats.

50. metalpoet (unregistered) posted on 10 Sep 2012, 14:41

AKA not a single massive improvement!

53. Dj21o posted on 10 Sep 2012, 17:56 3

Not gonna lie, I'm kind of interested to see what the new iPhone has. I'm an Android fanatic all the way, but Apple has to know there are tech people out other waiting for something better. I feel like they need a really clean design with a bigger screen, more free apps, and hopefully a game changer that allows a little more customization. Its going to be the same boring iPhone unless they really innovate and stop suing everyone like a bunch of pussies. Android is killing it and I wouldn't trade my Nexus for anything else right now.

42. beefsupreme posted on 10 Sep 2012, 10:55

For Apple the 30-pin charging cord is older than colour screens on their mobile devices. Apparently changing it is groudbreaking because of that.

14. rainyday posted on 10 Sep 2012, 07:35 16 2

if you want to see the features of the iPhone 5, just do a Google search on 'android phones 2011 features'

15. champ_vl posted on 10 Sep 2012, 07:44 7 1

If the iPhone 5 has a bigger screen that's enough of a innovation for the Apple company. They'll throw in there a few useless features like they did with the 4S and voilla...the new REVOLUTIONARY and ORIGINAL iPhone 5 !!

16. prototype posted on 10 Sep 2012, 07:45 1

Will it get ban using LTE , cpying android wiget or maybe it just copying the look and feel of android and window big screen design!

17. tes101 posted on 10 Sep 2012, 07:45 2 1

How can the design of a phone be called a feature? But i guess PA love eating apples too much that's why they love everything apple related

18. Fallout09 posted on 10 Sep 2012, 07:53 8 1

BORING!

19. Corky posted on 10 Sep 2012, 07:59 5 2

Personally I think the iPhone 5 is crap IF all the leaks and rumours are true, a stretched iPhone 4S with more power, nothing much more, I've waited a year for the iPhone 5 to upgrade from my old iPhone 4 ......... after trying an Android Jellybean phone, I'm selling all my Apple stuff and going to get the Galaxy SIII or the Note II, sorry Apple but your boring me now.

22. redmd posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:06 3

Well, that took too long.

26. eisenbricher posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:25 4

I agree with you, but just asking out of curiosity, what features did you expect?

29. ayephoner posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:35 4

everyone bashed the 4s for being such a minor update and not featuring a bigger screen nor LTE. now we get those features (and a few more) and people are still screaming its not enough. all this before we even get the official announcement. most of it is just fandroid trolling (yawn), but some of it is sincere.

there might be some secret items yet to be revealed. or even if not, this is still a pretty big update.

31. eisenbricher posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:41

We all are just being too greedy. I hope I can get back into 3310 era and tell the today's phone buyer's wishlist. I'm sure the person would hit me with his 3310 : (

32. Corky posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:41 1

I use my iPhone more and more now, and my PC less and less, Email, games, photos, sat nav, Mapping (memory-map), online shopping the list goes on, what I was expecting (and it seems most others too) was a larger overall screen, not just a taller one that seems useful only for watching widescreen movies, plus Android gives you the freedom to choose, where as Apple ties you into everything Apple and charges you a premium to do it and I no longer wish to be part of it.

33. Tripy posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:58 3

I totally agree, maybe we are all being too greedy, but other other manufacturers are offering more product for less money (IF the rumours are true)
I openly admit to being an iSheep, buying one because everybody else did, i liked the phone but hate the way Apple work, finding myself being Tied, Chained & Handcuffed to all things Apple, they tell you what you can and cant do, they tell you what you will and wont do... they seem to miss the fact that its my blasted phone ill do what the heck I like with it!

38. xtian1103 posted on 10 Sep 2012, 09:57

+1 for honesty. i bought my 1st iphone in 2007 (when the version is still 1.0.3) and it took me 4 years to replace it with an iphone 4. given the same design as the 4s made me decide not to buy that one. if i have enough or more than enough money to spare, i will wait maybe 3 months and let the hype simmer down then buy this. but i still wish it to be wider, i have long fingers

20. Android1 posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:00 1 2

Using LTE ??? Copycat huh ... U suck

23. eisenbricher posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:07 5

What is going on, seems pretty bad to me. Company like Nokia, which has now reduced to size of that small fraction of Apple, works with all its might to introduce so many new innovations and still people bash Nokia.. I bet apple will come up only with minor upgrades, and still get love. This is injustice!!

25. salmanshah posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:15 7 2

Iphone 5 is such a crappy phone. This time I wont buy iphone5 but LUMIA 920

27. doejon posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:32 1

ahm ok..., the almost same design is a new feature
count the features of iphone 5

than pls of samsung galaxy s3

and don´t forget the new design of s3 according to this article this is a feature

30. fongy posted on 10 Sep 2012, 08:41 5

You've got to admit though...

When the hype train starts quoting stuff like 'micro sim' and 'small connector' and "same battery size" as new and exciting features... it's time to really look at what's being produced and how much is being charged for it...

:O.

36. hitmantb posted on 10 Sep 2012, 09:32 1

During the past 10 years, with the possible exception of iPhone 2007, Apple has never, ever tried to play the hardware spec race game or be the first to add new features. This is despite the fact other than Samsung who manufactures everything, Apple is untouchable in supply chain due to its vast amount of cash.

Before iPod there were 10000 MP3 players, before iPad there were 10000 tablet computers. The first iPhone also missed many features other phones had at the time. It did not matter because Apple made sure every new thing added to their product worked flawlessly and correctly.

4" screen without really increasing phone size - Do you really believe with all the cash Apple has it can not do a 5"+? I have a Galaxy Note and I totally understand the appeal of big screens, but my wife uses iPhone + iPad. On the road she has a much more portable device for light browsing/app usage, for everything else iPad still blows the Galaxy Note away in screen size pleasure. If Samsung had any success in tablets, it would not create a phablet, it is two devices in one, but don't kid yourself, it is not as good as iPhone as a phone, and it should not even be compared to iPad as a tablet

LTE - Battery was always a problem, my ATT note runs out of battery so quickly in LTE mode and there is no way to turn it off. I am sure Apple's implementation will solve this problem with new generation LTE chips despite a smaller battery. Also Apple did not bother with LTE because so few carriers had it, it is rarely ever the company to push technologies with flaws like this, until it is ready.

NFC - I don't know why Apple will even consider this, there are very few places that actually have this, see LTE. Unless they are pushing their own proprietary payment method, I don't see why they would even bother.

Navigation - We will see how well Apple's navigation stacks up against Google's. It is not who did what first and when, it is how well it is actually done! The Google Navigation is nowhere near Navigon/Garmin's.

Apple is playing the total ecosystem game, a 4" iPhone fits in perfectly with the success of iPad (and soon iPad mini). 3.5" to 4.3" is a smaller difference than 4" to 4.5-4.8". This is why Apple will not release a large screen anytime soon because the intention is to have you pick up both devices instead of trying to tough it out with a 5" and pretend it is a tablet.

37. jibraihimi posted on 10 Sep 2012, 09:46 1

Galaxy S has 4' screen two years back........ Now shouldn't samsung sue Apple, as soon as they launch iphone 5..........???

39. joaolx posted on 10 Sep 2012, 10:05

Maybe Apple will introduce something new like they did with Siri last year. That was unexpected and something like that for this new iPhone would be cool.

41. beefsupreme posted on 10 Sep 2012, 10:51 2

Apple didn't introduce Siri. They bought it and then removed it from any device that already had it so you had to get the 4s.

45. Android1 posted on 10 Sep 2012, 12:21 1

IPhone 5 .. look like a brik to me :/

46. mhiharis posted on 10 Sep 2012, 12:33 1

Apple knew the million of dumb will buy the iphone bcs it's "iphone". It doesn't matter what is in it.

And these features..........................what a joke, even other so called barnd in Asia can provide these.

Every time Apple disappointed me so I gave up. I just love their iPod and that is the only best thing they had ever created.

48. blattlaus posted on 10 Sep 2012, 14:10 1

I'm not sure if you can claim "New Design". It looks exactly like the 4S stretched for a larger screen.

49. Jphones posted on 10 Sep 2012, 14:30

Come on who wants to bet right now that the i5 which it should be called is going to be a minor upgrade compared to how samsung upgraded the GS3

52. jackhammeR posted on 10 Sep 2012, 15:35 2

PA. quit posting this crap all over again. Wait till new icrap will be officially presented.
4 or 5 topic which are essentially the same.
BTW. 1440 battery? Is it a joke??

54. ChafedBanana posted on 10 Sep 2012, 18:29

So.....4G, a bigger screen (just longer really) and no real increase in battery size? I hope the processor is super efficient. That is not good. Battery life is going to blow on VZW's LTE and of course, the battery can't be swapped out when it dies.

55. Gaytor posted on 11 Sep 2012, 05:17

I will not be buying. Ppl all around the world will also not be buying. Some ppl are put off by the need fr Apple ID,itune ID and many other restrictions.
