iPad will get the full Siri experience with iOS 6

0. phoneArena posted on 04 Jun 2012, 20:37

Just one week until the start of Apple's World Wide Developers Conference, and we've got more Apple news leaking out. Apparently, iOS 6 is going to bring the full Siri experience to the iPad, and not just the limited dictation that's available now...

Not trying to hate or start a war here, but so far ios 6 is looking like it will have nothing new/special. Im an android user but will be more than happy to make the switch if io6 pulls out some surprises.

For me, widgets, turn by turn nav, and a more deeply integarted siri would be steps in the right direction

How can you judge ios6 if it hasn't even been released. All you have heard is rumors, so how call it nothing special or new?

I think testman is being very fair. He said specifically that "so far" none of the rumors have been new/special, which is true, and that he'd be "more than happy" to switch. What's wrong with that?

I think his comment was fair as an iOS user but we should judge iOS 6 when it is released this is a bit premature. If he wants to say he is disappointed with what has been leaked so far I can get that but saying that its looking like it will have nothing new/special is premature since we don't have a clue what iOS 6 will bring to the table yet. Anyway I think the major change this year will be the iPhone seeing that the major change last year was ios5. Anyway you can already get turn by turn nav with many apps and cook has already said there will be some cool things happening with siri. Widgets might be also a major change that I will think will happen since they already exist on the mac and have hired this guy who I forget his name but had some interesting ideas about widgets for the iPhone.

well… hopefully apple makes it look a little nicer than in the picture there… possibly sliding in from the side so that it is portrait orientation would be the most elegant way

think it might look like that it eases development, and does not look so bad for me u_u

also I think what the rumor said about iPad users being happy with iOS6 could be siri

I wonder if the iPod Touches will get some Siri love... I look forward to iOS 6 but I don't think they'll be offering it for 4th gen iPod Touches.....

"... It seems likely that at the very least the new iPad will get the bump, and it would be in Apple's interest to not put Siri on the older (aka cheaper) hardware as well" (par.2).

I resent that comment.

I don't consider my iPad2 which I spent my hard earned money on to have cheaper hardware. Yes It may not be the most recent iteration with the latest build specs, but It works flawlessly and the build quality is top notch. The way I see it, it would make sense to include Siri on the iPad2 considering the iPhone4S has the same hardware (read: processor) albeit in smaller form factor. Not that Siri is processor intensive, but you know what I mean.

I hope iPad 2 gets Siri but I'm afraid it won't.

I think what they meant was that it is cheaper for people to buy. Apple as a company has always tried to get people to go for the newer, more expensive products that they release by giving them more or better features, which is why they might not release Siri for the iPad2. If Siri is as popular as it's been made out to be then they will use it to try to make people buy a new iPad instead.

I have to concur here. Apple is not known for supporting older products. I am surprised the 3GS has lasted this long. I would not be surprised if Apple drops the 3GS with iOS 6.

With that being said, at E3 ... Microsoft has dropped A LOT of tablets.

The tablet war is hot right now and only to heat up more.

For Apple to drop the "2" may warrant folks to get a new tablet; however, one that is probably cheaper than the new iPad and running a completely different OS.

I know Apple "claims" the reason why SIRI was not on the 4 (versus 4S) is because the 4S had a better voice recognition chip in it resulting in the 4 having too many errors. Considering the new iPad was released after the 4S, one would think it would have similar hardware and hence easily support SIRI. It will be interesting to see what Apple does with the iPad 2. To aid in their tablet supremacy, I think that have to put SIRI on the iPad 2.

Apple actually is known for supporting their products. iPhone's get about 3 years of updates after launch. 3GS from 2009 is running iOS 5.1

24. supaman21 posted on 05 Jun 2012, 12:35 1 2

thats good old fragmentation for you, been out what, a year?? a 600 dollar product that wont get updated. and 5.1 on a 3gs is the worst thing ive ever seen

25. gallitoking posted on 05 Jun 2012, 13:54 2 1

well look into Android camp where phones just released less than a year ago wont get ICS.. now that's bad

28. maryaaadil posted on 08 Jun 2012, 13:26

you can get it unofficially...........
and 3GS has ios 5.1 but no "SIRI"
So they*cough*Apple*Cough* are just bluffing with people
Copied from gsmarena, hope they dont mind

Apple is under the assumption they run the world...one thing they havent realized and I hope the buying public realizes it...but dont support something that we have already purchased just buy a new one to get 1 new feature. If people stopped doing it they would stop having this Nazi mentality. Imagine if a car company did the same..... "im sorry although you purchased this car 1 month ago a new model came out and now you cant get any parts or any repairs or any kid of help...but if you buy another one we can help you" smfh....now that cricket has it...im thinking ...hoping end of life for the iphone...ipad i love!

Just noticed ... looking at the picture ... since when does the iPad have a weather app?
