iPad mini: what we think we know

0. phoneArena 22 Oct 2012, 01:23 posted on

Apple has a little something to show us on October 23, and we all believe we know what that might be. A smaller, more affordable iPad model is expected to be announced – presumably called the iPad mini and likely destined to take down Amazon and Google as the dominant names on the 7-inch tablet arena. Obviously, the device isn't official yet, but at the same time, rumors about it have been going back and forth for months. Yeah, we know that security at Apple isn't as tight as it used to be. But thanks to those rumors, we believe we already know quite a lot about the iPad mini, although some pieces of the puzzle have yet to be revealed. Care to go over what we have so far and see what the iPad mini is shaping up to be?...

if Apple sells 8GB model for 250 bucks as rumored then that will be a threat to N7 but I highly doubt it. So far nothing beats N7.

Nope, the coming $99 N7 will be the real threat to iP M. Considering the fact that 32 GB N 7 will have the same price of 16 GB variant, i hope iP M sales wont hinder the N 7 sales....

it wont be a threat to N7 as the Android users love android, its not only about the hardware but the software.
And as far as Apple goes they're so full of it that they probably will never sell even an 8GB model for anything less than 300 - 350 bucks...I am counting on it!

Nothing about apple is exciting anymore, what do you really need to know about this? nothing
just an overgrown ipod touch.

A6 CPU with SGX543MP4 + $300 for 16 GB WiFi version = success. Though, Apple wants to maximize profits, so it'll either be at least $400 or it will have a less powerful chip. Who needs that much power anyways, eh? It's just iOS, nothing too special.

just because they sell don't mean there ''loved''

people follow the crowd just buy these things to feel like there in some way ''cool'' bet if you ask someone with an ipad anything about the specs or even is it 16gb they wouldnt know.

if you asked an android user that's not on this website, you'd get the same response. I can't beleive some of you really believe having an Android user makes you smarter.

i didnt say makes you smarter, but the general android user knows enough to pick a phone with some degree of tech knowledge. and as there are numerous different devices at each price range when picking android they will compare and decide whats best for the price (in general)

as for iphones users its more what iphone can i afford, why do you want one because its an iphone. ive heard this so many times. you ask the general iphone user why they chose it and there stumped.

and as you like to generalise my points stand.
whatever way you try to dress it up apple products are more a social statement, a trend the ''look at me'' device

no phone will make you smarter, but the tech savy will look elswhere

That's once again false. A ton of Android users don't know crap about their phones, sometimes it's kind of sad. It's pretty much the same on both sides. Why do you think phones like the SGIII are doing so well and phones like the EVO are doing poorly. It's all about advertising! A large percentage of smartphone users only use their phones for pictures, Internet, tex/calling. A lot of Android users don't even use widgets. If you ask around what processor the SIII is running, the average Android wouldn't know. I bet more people know how much memory is their iPhones than Android users do in their phone since the first question they're probably asked is 16,32, or 64 gig and in which color. I bet more people know about the A6 processor than they do Snapdragon/Exynos

again the word generalising is key, no one can speak for every individual user so you have to sum up the majority. plus your going from the subject

marketing is the only thing apple are leading in right now, they can make an average device look the best and millions mindlessly buy it on there words.

''I bet more people know how much memory is their iPhones than Android users do in their phone since the first question they're probably asked is 16,32, or 64 gig and in which color. I bet more people know about the A6 processor than they do Snapdragon/Exynos''

so basically you have gone from tryin to act all nautral saying both sides are the same to sayin iphone users know more about there phone then android users...nice way to take sides

just face it , most that buy the high end android phones will more then likely have looked at specs and whats on offer to decide whats best for them............iphone well that sells just because its an iphone go ask those with iphones why they bought them most will look at you and just say 'its the newest iphone' thats there basis on buying it.

The Samsung Galaxy S3's specs are written on the box! Apple didn't even tell how much Ghz or how many cores there are in an A6 chip.

That's because apple doesn't want the average customer to get bothered. All you should know is that it will be fast all the time and will give you great gaming and that it is perfect for everything and anything.

My only concern is that Apple does not make the statement that they created a revolution in the tablet market by introducing a new 7 inch iPad. This will only show their sheer arrogance and their out of touch with reality due to the distortion field. And "plain blatant copying of Amazon and Google" since they (the late Steve Jobs) said there was no better size then the current 9 inch tablet size. if that is the case then in my mind Apple is truly indeed following his (SJ) motto " Good artists copy Great artists steal" ( not that I had any doubts but this would be the nail in the coffin)

They also pretty much said they made the tablet, which they didn't. First tablet was introduced in 2002 called the Microsoft Tablet PC. They just marketed their tablet and yeah, now a lot of people think they were the makers of it, which is sad. Lol. So yeah expect them to be, "We decided we should be innovative and creative and so not steal anyone elses idea again and come out with a smaller version of our current tablet!"
