iPad mini is officially announced

0. phoneArena 23 Oct 2012, 12:55 posted on

Just as we expected, after all the leaks and speculations, Apple officially unveiled the iPad mini at today's press event. And exactly as the name suggests, the tablet is a thinner, lighter variant of the iPad as we know it, with a smaller screen and form factor that makes it even more portable than its larger sibling...

Really?

Android phones get released ... like ... weekly ... with improvements here and there along the way ... and yet Apple cannot release a new product 6 months later?

People buys Apple because of their Device's Expectations....
If they continue to release so early like this people will start to feel boring...

Well let's not compare apples to oranges, in this case apples to androids. There are a dozen Android manufacturers, each producing a new product at any one time.

Also, I don't think people are upset over Apple releasing a new product 6 months later, but rather the fact that the hardware in the iPad 4 should've been released in the first place with the iPad 3. It looks an awful lot like they are just trying to make money instead of just making a good product that people will enjoy for some time. People are paying $500 for these things. I can pay $200 for a tablet that has a quad-core processor that will probably last me for the next 2 years, if not more.

You can't enjoy Apple products because of their price? I think there are a lot of people out there do enjoy what Apple has offer to the public and willing to pay its price. In Apple's theory, newest hardware is not necessary to the iOS. Can you flip to the other way and say all Android products run too fast with all these NEWest hardwares without much optimizations of their own software? (I use a Galaxy Nexus and enjoy it a lot more than most Android phones out there) Stick with Android buddy and don't worry about Apple too much =)

Awesome post full of useless info no one will listen to. People will instead go out, and buy what they want be it android apple, or windows. More people will follow my idea than yours.

I was not saying that people can't enjoy Apple products because of their price. People can enjoy a $5000 flat screen television, but it doesn't mean there isn't a $2000 flat screen television with the same features at a more comparable price. That is the difference. You are paying $120 more for a product that has comparable or even worse features than something for a lot less. I'm not saying people cannot enjoy said product, but I'm saying that you can get a similar product for a lot less.

Android does not release weekly, dozens of OEMs do with all different looks, sizes and specs. So to answer your question, no, no they cannot.

"We saw that people loved the iPhone and when we launched the iPad mini, it was astounding. All the features of an iPad into a light weight hand sized device which great surface area. We thought to ourselves, hey why not put them both together? When we put them together we got the a new revolutionary and remarkable device. We did the impossible, a 5.9" device. Not too big for the hand, not too small for the screen size. A better iPhone, a better iPad mini. We introduce to you, the iPhad."
Or some sh*t like that.

it's very, very nice but the price is what's going to make or break it. $300 for a 32GB and $400 for a 64GB is the highest they'll be able to go to offset something like a Nexus 7 or the plethora of cheaper e-reader/tablets out there like the Nook HD and the Kindle Fire HD pairs.

they blew it if they wanted to take sales from the Nexus 7. the 16GB Nexus 7 is about to be a whole $130 cheaper than the 16GB iPad Mini and the 32GB Nexus 7 is $180 cheaper than the 32GB iPad Mini

Dude they are Obviously under pressure, have you ever seen Apple doing such in dept comparison with the nexus even when the nexus was not advertised as a thin tab? Look how they skipped their market share and jumped to web traffic and introduced a new iPad Lol

And I finally got my n7 I love it so far it feels light and nice to the hand it also has a size that fits on my pocket or a small bag :D Happy happy

You sound stupid. Apple is under pressure from who? Take your android blinders off and stop marching to these companies beats. The mini will obiterate your N7 in sales. Why not just enjoy your N7 and stop wishing for a companies downfall. Android fanboys are the funniest people in the world!

I'm not wishing for a company downfall, I think many articles talk about this pressure everywhere, I'm not inventig this, bit I guess you at too blind to see a company holding an 80%+ is now down to nearly half market share in less than a year to the point they didn't bragged about market share numbers this time around like they did on the iPhone announcement, its obvious competition is hitting them and by competition I do not mean nexus 7 only

$100 too expensive. There's a reason the Nexus is made of plastic. They could have made it out of aluminium but decided to keep it at a reasonable price.

I just don't see the point in pricing this "mini" in USD$ 329.00. Think about it, almost like an ipad 2, but just for USD$ 70.00 less. In my opinion, that's hardly a bargain. Rest assured, Nexus 7 and other Android tablets, including the Fire, will continue selling the same.

So, Apple is saying a bigger screen with more surface area is better than other devices with a smaller surface area. I guess I'm should be glad I got the SGS3 instead of the iP5 because the SGS3 has a bigger screen with more surface area, so it is better. :)

Specks size and everything only matters when. It favors them loved how they compared the screen with the N7 and claimed how better things look on a bigger screen, but hey Google should do the same with they release the nexus next Monday and compare 4" long vs 4.7" long-wide
