while it sounds nice for ibots, i dont really think putting an ipad or any tablet at this point in the "mobile computer" space makes sence. They are missing too many functions to be a full blown computer. Especially the ipad which is just a supersized ipod.
laptops are laptops.. tablets are tablets.. they are not the same category.

Thumbs up for that one.i wholeheartedly agree. Tablets just don't have the access and functionality of a pc not even a rooted android tablet has what a laptop does. On a related note, hopefully windows 8 isn't a crippled os and just has a major UI overhaul but retains windows functionality. If so, we may finally see a tablet that can match android and IOS in usability and a PC in functionality. Lets hope.

i have the same hopes that its a good blend of real computing and a finger friendly tablet experience. I can easily forgo some "super smooth ui" junk for actual functionality.

I almost agree with that. I don't need the flashiest GUI in a tablet, but I need functionality. Its why I haven't bought one yet. They really don't do anything a smartphone doesn't do, they just do some things differently. I don't need another smartphone. But the unique GUI and smooth RSS of it, in other words, usability are the reasons to get a tablet Instead of a notebook, for me anyway.
So I need at least SOME of the "super smooth UI junk". Only enough to make the experience unique from a touchscreen laptop so to speak.

It makes sense for Apple. And cents make dollars $$$

The iPad doesn't need to do everything a PC does to be considered a mobile computer, that's just what it is.

Android had a bigger market share. That would make you the follower. Also you spend just as much just on crappier devices.

I'm not an Apple fan. I wouldn't buy an iPad and I dislike the proprietary attitude Apple has... but I have to admit, this is impressive.
