iPad 2 receives 4 out of 10 in repairability, 512MB RAM confirmed, 25% slimmer display package
0. phoneArena 12 Mar 2011, 02:48 posted on
iPad 2 was taken apart, and revealed a thinner LCD display package, making it incredibly hard to separate the front panel without breaking it. 512MB of RAM were confirmed via software, and the chipset details are coming along...

You missed the big ring on her finger. The only one tearing you down would be her husband! :P

Just more confirmation its just a big ipod. What a worthless camera. Guess that's enough to get the drones to cough up their cash. But to the othre 99.7.% of us, it's as worthless as ever. Another failure. They are on a roll lol.

Indeed. . . slap a fruity label on anything and they will buy it. . . just call it amazing.
Getting sick of hearing how Apple is innovating and creating new categories. Maybe some of these fans should check out what Archos has been doing for years with tablets and WiFi device. . . the iPhone & iPad are nothing new. In typical Apple fashion they remake a small companies products and market the hell out of them and claim they innovated.
To top it off. . . you can't fix anything on an Apple device and these batteries will be toast rather quickly--then you get to buy another iPad instead of opening it up and just putting in a new batter. Thanks for helping the environment Apple! And I'll bet 9 out of 10 of these fools buying this thing claim they are pro environment.

worthless... Tablets have not reached their full potential yet, and prices are prematurely high... whoever buys a tablet now is "standing on shaky grounds"
and yes I did just quote a temptation song

Honestly question...if it had a 5MP camera...would you actually use it? I just could not imagine even wanting to take a photo with something as big as a tablet...I mean, a lot of computer cams are less than a mega pixel and don't record HD...is that also bad?
6. giantgnome (Posts: 67; Member since: 11 Feb 2011)
Do you have a problem of not reading articles? The REAR-FACING camera is used to RECORD videos and take STILLs. When you have a 1 MP camera it borders on being totally useless.
On the other hand computer cams are usually FRONT-FACING meant to be used for video chat, hence the lack of priority to quality and more to just being small enough to fit into the bezel of the laptop.
What's the point of having a portable tablet if you're not going to have it around a lot? I won't use it like a dedicated camera but I would like to be able to shoot pics and videos on impulse when I do have the tablet out. This is really just moronic.

I was literally not trying to set that question up dude. Seriously chill out. I am only one person and I know how I'd use an iPad, but I literally just wanted to see what the PhoneArena community thought of a camera on an iPad. I try not to think everyone's usage would be like mine which is why I asked. For example, I'd only use my iPad in my house. Since the iPhone and the iPad can, for the most part, do the same thing, when I am away from the house, I can just use my iPhone. I am more likely to take photos on my iPhone in and out of the house just because I can't really imagine wanting to hold something as large as the iPad or even the Samsung Galaxy Tab to take a photo. But that's just me...
I can read just fine. But since the responses above were about the camera, I wanted to get more insight on you guys' usage. That's all.

There you go again Jeff, sounding like a broken record. All you do is defend Apple and warn of impending tiered data pricing.
Have fun with your crappy one mega pixel camera. Just wait until you open one of those pics on the 9.7 inch screen to see it in all of its pixelated, blurry, artifacting, noisey glory. God forbid you zoom in on it...

...this coming from a guy named AndroidTroll...
So this will be the only time I'll respond to any of your posts because any person that goes out of his way to be an "AndroidTroll" isn't really here to talk about technology, you're just here to be a dick.
I like Apple. I like their products. I don't think Apple is perfect. I don't think that all of their devices are state of the art. In fact, I agree with you guys on the camera even though I wouldn't use it myself. I'm also disappointed on the lack of retina display. Apple isn't perfect. What I think is stupid is that some users here for the most part embraces technology. But everyone also seems to hate Apple/Steve Jobs and never really have a good reason for it. They hate people who buy Apple products for no good reason either.
Apple is concerned with the consumer, not just the nerd. I'm a nerd and there are some Apple products I have and some I don't. Apple Fanboys will buy anything with Apple on it...I don't have AppleTV, MacBook, iPod, Trackpad..blah blah blah. But in the end, I just care about what works for me. Apple works for me. I don't think anyone who buys Android, Windows Phone 7, or any other OS is dumb for not agreeing with me because what works for me doesn't work for everyone.
I get if people don't agree with Apple's rules on things. But you have to look at their business as a business. Apple made a phone that people can't break and honestly, that they don't have to worry about because they can't overly customize it and wonder why it doesn't work anymore. If that's not your thing, that's fine. Buy something else and move on. But because Apple does that with a good number of their products, people don't have to worry about doing bad things to their devices. They can just use them and move on.
And as for the last comment, like I said, I'll keep my picture taking to my iPhone because it's the only one leaving the house. I don't really care about a camera on my iPad because I don't take photos just sitting around the house.

Actually, I am a troll named AndroidTroll...not a guy...and I try really hard not to be a dick so that hurts my feelings.
You make some good points that validate your opinions. Now I will tell you why I have a negative opinion about apple and its customers. It's because they act like they are genius innovators when they are not. Even apple customers act like they are geniuses for being able to use an apple product when in fact they don't know shit about computers. So it is all of this pretentious ignorance that bugs me.
As evidence of this apple culture, look no further than the fact that the techs at the apple store are called geniuses. Talk about arrogance! If apple would just admit that their devices are not the highest tech and if their users would admit that they like apple stuff because it is easy to use then I would be fine with that. I just can't stand wannabes.

yes, i would use it. if i paid 600+ for a device, you will be sure to see me with it all the time. and if im like sitting at the park and something cool happens with my kid, im going to use the camera on the tablet instead of putting it down, whipping out a camera and praying that the moment hasnt passed.
yea, the camera is very important.
13. doubler86 (Posts: 320; Member since: 26 Jan 2011)
I know of no laptop manufacturer that hasn't had a 1.3 megapixel camera for the past 3 years. So less than one if pretty bad and very outdated yes.
33. CRICKETownz (Posts: 980; Member since: 24 Oct 2009)
I could think of several uses of a tablet (still can't justify the pricing tho...since i already own a laptop but i if i did not i would probably go the tablet direction). Most of what i use my laptop for a tablet would accommodate my uses esp. since a lot of them have a wireless keyboard option. There you go, now you have a workstation. Camera is not a big deal but if i need it i would have it. Also when traveling a tablet could entertain the kids for movie watching, etc which would be better than toting around a laptop. If it doesn't fit your lifestyle it doesn't fit your lifestyle doesn't mean that it won't fit anothers...ppl express such hatred for a product when they are not interested in it or it doesn't make sense to their world. Its kinda pathetic & funny at the same time. Its only electronics people...you are not getting a paycheck from any of these companies for hating the "other guy"

haha it's so ironic that Ipad have 1 megapixel rear camera ( and boost fix focus to have HD-video capture ) LOLZ

Can't wait for Steve Jobs to say "You're looking at it wrong" on the light leaking issue.
Isn't a pad suppose to stop leaks?
14. Sniggly (Posts: 7305; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
512 mb of RAM? less than a megapixel resolution? Extremely fragile?
This product is already outdated, and will be more severely so when other tablets come out. No wonder it's less expensive- Apple just pissed away a year of development time.
15. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
i doubt they were even finished with their morning coffee when they figured out how to "enhance" the ipad with this one.. lol
17. Sniggly (Posts: 7305; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
All they did was slap the iPod's camera on, substitute glue for solid tabs, made the glass in the display thinner, and toss in slightly more RAM and a dual core processor. It's an amalgamation of afterthoughts. Sheer laziness. It seems like they did as little as possible to somewhat match what their competitors planned on doing, because they know, they fucking know that everyone will buy one anyway because no one bothers to do any market research.
16. Sniggly (Posts: 7305; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Even more pathetic: the cheapest iPad with 3g connectivity is 30 bucks more than the XOOM. And the most comparable iPad is only 70 bucks less than a no contract XOOM. Apple, Jobs, do you even care anymore?

What did you expect? It's designed to have high profit margins, which is why all of apple's products are made in CHINA where workers are treated and paid like dirt. Boycott them and buy something not made with borderline slave labor!
19. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
hey, they only had 17 suicides at the ipad plant!!! oi!! so many that they installed nets around the buildings to catch jumpers. no really, look it up, its true. they get paid so little and work so long that suicide was better than working there.

3 to 5 thumbs down on every single comment critical of Android in less than an hour... you iFanboys act like young earth creationists. No seriously. You do. You can't stand criticism, so you have to make it seem like that criticism isn't well received by the general community. Join me, guys, in upthumbing/downthumbing everything to zero.

24. BaiGanyo (Posts: 308; Member since: 07 Feb 2011)
It's funny, they consider a camera important enough to add, but add one that can't realistically be used in any meaningful way. Looks like they just slow pitched themselves the next great "upgrade" to the next version. Scammy....
26. irocko (unregistered)
I mean lets be honest, this is a complete ripoff. Apple always makes as little change as possible to make as much money as possible. its "twice as fast" does this ring a bell? c'mon this is the 3g to 3gs all over again. i owned the 3g but skipped the 3gs 'cos of apples attitude and waited for the iphone 4 which had more reasonable upgrades from my 3g. ipad2 (little or no work done), i think i'll pass.
28. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
So why are you buying Apple products if they're a rip off? Sounds like you're not that bright then right? I think this is a nice upgrade. They added front and back cameras, twice as fast with 9x the graphics and it's thinner. I'm getting one.
27. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
the usual losers are on this Apple article posting nonsense as usual. If Apple products are so worthless how come they get so much coverage? What kind of coverage did the Zoom get? Not much is the answer. No one cares about Android products and you guys can't stand it lmao. iPad 2 is going to crush the Zoom in sales. I'd be willing to bet 6 - 1.
29. irocko (unregistered)
think you must be less than bright so you might need to read my post more than once to get the gist. i may buy apple products but it doesnt mean i'll waste my hard earned money on an updated product that hardly does anything more than the older version. its ok if its ur first pad but if you already own the old one its hardly worth the upgrade. Seniments aside ifan and droidfan aside, thats just the simple truth.

ima take a picture of steve jobs, make the picture full screen, draw three circles on it with a permanent sharpie marker(one on his fore head, one on his heart, and one on the money hes holding that u gave him), then im going to put the ipad 20-35 feet away from me, and then get my rifle and have fun. Ipads arent entirely useless ;)
