iOS interface concept shows how much better Apple devices could have been

0. phoneArena 01 Aug 2012, 09:30 posted on

iOS 6 is soon coming out with plenty of new features, but it looks more like a gradual improvement and evolution over the existing iOS 5 rather than a revolutionary…

Give me an example of "multi-tasking" that you can do on your Android that you can't do in iOS? I'm not trying to troll. I have had Android and iOS and I'm wondering what instance do you need this?

iOS multitasking is "limited" while Android multitasking not "limited".

great concept...

my only problem would be using precise gestures to open the app, show badges, or flipping the app open.

it would get pretty annoying if you are trying to open an app and it constantly shows badges and notifications.

I agree.. iOS doesn't have multitasking.. Try watching youtube on iPhone then click the power button, it will freeze the youtube app.. The same will happen when downloading files which is annoying..

This is the way Apple should've gone with. This is what iOS 5 should have been, or what iOS 6 should definitely be. But sadly, this will probably never happen until Apple actually listens to their consumers. They just stick with incremental upgrades, saying it's revolutionary and "new". Meanwhile, Android is just leaping ahead of the competition. And WP is catching up with iOS quickly, some might say it's even surpassed it. iOS might lead in sales, but it will NEVER be as good as others until Apple executives actually listen.

This is almost like Android and IOS combined.. Wait didn't someone already do this but lacked the proper hardware to do so? Oh wait WebOS... Duh

This kind of thing will ABSOLUTELY happen. When, like Palm and BlackBerry, Apple finally sees it's bottom line getting hurt from consumers leaving the iPhone, no longer camping out overnight to get the new one, and it's competitors picking up their sales.

Until then, Apple plays it safe and milks their cash cow.

All my funds. Long press on an icon could expand its notifications (rather than pulling it down?) and the notification bar acting like a folder (breaking the screen and moving it down) does look much better! Isn't that what it does in OSX? So could well happen.

Some nice ideas. There is still plenty of stuff they can do with iOS, and I think that iOS7 is going to be make or break for a lot of people. Fingers crossed they are cooking something up and iOS6 is merely a lick of paint to get them though.

As soon as Apple sees this video they will steal the ideas, put them into iOS 7 and claim it was original and revolutionary without giving this guy credit or even a single cent.

thats pretty nice. There would have been a lot more excitement about iOS6 if this were what it brought out. I'd probably adjust the swipe gestures to "2 finger" instead of 1 for the notifications and pull up menu to reduce accidental swipes by newbs.

This would bring be back to the Ios camp for a while, but apple would have to implement true multitasking for this concept to work. But Apple will not change on till the last red cent has been plucked from their customers pocket.

Apple has no reason to innovate - they sell plenty of iphones to people who are not aware that there are better phones out there.
Once the sales drop enough, I am sure APPLE would will focus on innovation again.

You saw the article on R&D it's pretty sad that Apple puts so little effort into innovation. But they are able to get away with it through marketing and litigation.

I remember in Steve Jobs biography, them saying that they didn't want companies like Microsoft in control because they would stop innovating once on top. Guess what apples done. I'm not going to say that the iPhone 4(S) isn't an extremely sexy phone that works very well, however, compare it to a Galaxy S III, the Samsung does SO MUCH MORE!! And it does it for the most part just as elegantly. Please start to innovate again Apple. Then I'll consider an iPhone next year. However, if we just get a 4" iPhone with iOS 6 (WOOOOO!!! NEW MAPS!!! AND uh...uh...not much else.) then forget it. I used to love apple a LOT, but it's getting boring.

just shows how they could have used that time to innovate and introduce stuff sadly im sure some of those thing have patents that even apple can't use... wait maybe there in the open domain and they will be patented by apple... lol just had to add this last part sorry..

This really looks good. The screen pull up feature resembles the Nokia N9 to some extent, but looks really nice. As Apple Nation is content with what Apple offers, I doubt if Apple will go for something like this!!!!

Wow....
That was honestly an incredible concept video, this guy has some serious talent for user interface IMO. The stuff he showed here could seriously be all it takes to make IOS less "traditional" in their functions and really bring the iOS platform as a whole into the current gen of mobile OS's.

Really impressed by this guy's creative, original, and honestly ingenious ideas!! Keep up the good work, and here's hoping Apple somehow finds this video and takes a few notes :D
