iOS developers port Siri onto the iPhone 3GS, post a video to prove it

0. phoneArena posted on 08 Nov 2011, 07:02

A team of iOS developers managed to port Siri onto the good old iPhone 3GS and posted a video online to show off their accomplishment. Perhaps the service does not necessarily need to be an iPhone 4S exclusive...

As an iPhone 4S owner, I am completely offended that Apple is even attempting to do this. I was eligible for an upgrade 6 months before the 4S came out, and when I decided to upgrade, I expected to upgrade to the best. If the iPhone 4 and lesser models get Siri, what the hell is the difference between the 4S and them (other than the obvious MINOR camera and a5 chip upgrade)???

Instead of thinking of ways to make the other iPhones exactly the same as the NEWEST model, why doesn't Apple actually work on ways to upgrade Siri for the 4S and make the phone ACTUALLY WORTH A DAMN UPGRADE!!

The initial lack of change from the 4 to 4S really makes me regret leaving Android, and this really is not helping the cause...

Quit your b*tching. As an iPhone 4 user, who got his iPhone 4 two months before the 4S was announced, I am happy that I can possibly get Siri. I got the 4 before the 4S rumors, and now I'm stuck with the obsolete device, and Verizon won't help me out. They also dropped the price of the 4 right after I bought it.

They better bring the new software asap!

You knew the 4S was coming out very soon when you upgraded; that's your fault for not doing your homework!

shhhh don't be an even more stupid, don't tell people you have an iphone 4,tell your admiring chums you have an iphone 4s and they will never be able to tell the difference!! Social score!

@mas1988. What You're overlooking is the fact that many people were already using Siri before the ip4s. Allowing Siri to be ported to ip4 is kinda like restoring an old function. The 4s still has an A5 chip and the best camera available on the market right now. If that wasn't enough, you can only be upset with yourself for upgrading.

What?? What kind of inferiority complex do you have that you don't want other users to enjoy this feature? If you upgraded you may as well get the newest one and enjoy the dual core and nicer camera.

Whatever man is right. If you're not happy with your upgrade you have only yourself to blame.

Siri hardly works, and is still in a Beta stage. All I'm saying is developers should work on getting the full version out BEFORE tinkering with the idea of putting it on other phones.

Barely works? It works great. It's the best voice system on the market already.

Yeah it works if you want to know what a weasel looks like. For the most part, it just asks you if you want to search the web.

You are a fool if you don't think there are improvements needed.

Siri is only at a very early stage but apple would have a very hard time convincing even the most easily led of its islaves to upgrade and spend their money on the exact same phone as last year if they didn't exaggerate siri to ridiculous proportions to drive sales,

Im surprised Apple didn't use people crying in the iphone 4s siri ads, crying over the joy of having voice search despite the fact its is on the market for over a year, crying much like apple folk in facetime ads last year, crying because they can see their son on the other side with video call,a feature which was origionally available half a decade ago

Unfortunately the are thousands out there like you who have been fooled again by Apple, its a viscous circle. However the one point of light in your situation is that there are many islaves out there who will happilty pay full price to you for your iphone 4s and you will be free to make a better decision this time round

Does it not bother ANYONE that they completely abandoned the Siri that I've had on my 3gs for the last 18 months? I've used it to make reservations, set appointments, set reminders, find restaurants, etc. And now, it's just useless.

13. username posted on 08 Nov 2011, 13:55

it better work. cause my mom just bought a new iphone 3gs 2 days ago. And she is a first time smartphone user. so i think that siri would help her out alot.

is it just me, or did i just see a LED Notification light while he was on Siri?
If there is a notification light, can someone tell me how to use it?
