iOS design poll shows users strongly favor iOS 7

0. phoneArena 07 Aug 2013, 18:09 posted on

When Apple first announced iOS 7 and showed off the new design, there was a pretty big backlash amongst designers and average users alike. But, either people are getting used to the new look, or the initial response was simply a mixture of Apple-hate and change-hate, because a new design poll is showing that users strongly favor the look of iOS 7...

Of course people will like it... they copied Android and Windows. Besides iOS is old and boring so any upgrade is better.

Stop and think about how much Android copied from iOS before you go throwing that around. Android was a BlackBerry ripoff before Google started ripping features from the iPhone and predecessors to the iPhone. Almost nothing Android does is new or original. WM, iOS, and MeeGo/Symbian provide the basis for modern Android.

And we've been hearing about what an awful thing that is for years now. Suddenly, when Apple releases an entirely new design that is 100% copied from other sources, and copying is OK. That's hypocrisy.

I'm not saying anyone is right for claiming so, but in the same way, nobody has any moral high ground to call "copycat." Yes, even Windows Phone has derivative features.

just say that everyone copied from everyone and there's nothing we the consumer can't do bout it when it comes too law suits

The keyboardless form factor wasn't invented by apple either, but whatever. It isn't as if a palm lifedrive had that same form factor, and there was an android prototype form factor that was full screen.

Android was inspired by iOS, deny it all you want. Even project butter was instituted to smooth and polish in iOS fashion. That's not a bad thing either, all these OS's were inspired by iOS, after it set the mobile industry on its ear in 07'. Apple did get comfy, and cozy allowing others, namely android to catch up and pass it in some areas. Now apples back to work, and the best is yet to come.

And you are saying iOS is completely original?, wasn't inspired by anyone?, just popped out of thin air?, bravo blind iSh33p, you do realise there was smartphones with grid icons, touch gesture controls, app/game store, and whole other services before the iPhone right? Apple copied just about eveyone and put together a phone to call it the iPhone ...your kind of idiotic comments makes people hate Apple even more.

The phone revolution was gonna happen inevitably with or without Apple, they just happen to come out at the right time to claim glory, nothing Apple does is original, get over it....

I was never under it, I'm not an idiot or sh€€p either. I never said iOS wasn't inspired, I clearly said android was iOS inspired. I also don't give a rats a$$ how much people hate apple, I love em. Good day to you

Truer words have never been spoken. People forget that android was inspired by iOS. They also forget that android is based on Linux.

Yes, I'm pretty sure people forget Android was inspired by iOS because that is an absolute falsehood. Android was first designed in 2003, four years before Apple announced the iPhone and iOS. I'm pretty sure no one that is this involved in mobile industry to be on Phone Arena daily and commenting doesn't know Android is Linux based.I'm pretty sure some can even name the Linux kernel it's modeled after, Apache.

You're precious company didn't inspire Andy Rubin and his team to create the OS, nor did Google create it to rival Apple. Google didn't even purchase the company until two years into design process.Mind you, two full years still before Apple had announced anything.

What blind Apple followers seem to forget is that at its core, iOS is Unix based. A simple application launcher. Nothing more. Not a true operating system. A simple product for simple minded people.

The first Android version, i.e. Android 1.0 was even code-named Apple Pie!

I dont get how you can say Project butter was iOS inspired...Because you want a smooth OS, means you want it to be like iOS....really? They just wanted to smooth some things out...You make it sound like nothing was smooth untill iOS. I stand by the only thing apple did was use a capacitive (spelling?) screen correctly. For that i respect them. But even the app store...is just linux software center remade, and same with googles. But google doesn't tout their crap around like their god for making it. Everything's (besides MS) made and based off Unix....EVERYONE respect and give Unix the appreciation is deserves.

95% of app developers are working to update for iOS 7, so I'm sure the icons will be changed to fit.

the blurry frosty glass transparency look is dizzying and the colors are straight out of a bad Android theme. I call BS on this, Apple had one thing going familiarity and ease of use, people don't like change, and this is the ugliest change I have ever seen.

iOS7 will hurt apple, just like a plastic iPhone will and the fact that Apple has no identity without Jobs. At least under Jobs they stood for quality, now they stand for what, flashy, cheap and oh so mediocre?

Nope, that all was inspired by Steve Job's ridiculous "vow to destroy Android if it costs me 40billion of Apples money" quote. I mean that guy was great and passionate but that quote rubbed me wrong.

When I came up with it, the funniest Hitler rant at the time was Hitler banned from Xbox Live. I also did a less funny Steve you really didn't invent anything vid that is linked to that parody in the vid response section.
