iOS design poll shows users strongly favor iOS 7
0. phoneArena 07 Aug 2013, 18:09 posted on
When Apple first announced iOS 7 and showed off the new design, there was a pretty big backlash amongst designers and average users alike. But, either people are getting used to the new look, or the initial response was simply a mixture of Apple-hate and change-hate, because a new design poll is showing that users strongly favor the look of iOS 7...

i think most of the apps and games for ios 7 that uses ios 6 icons wont fit in!
6. daddysbeenabadgirl (Posts: 157; Member since: 26 Jul 2012)
Of course people will like it... they copied Android and Windows. Besides iOS is old and boring so any upgrade is better.
10. Napalm_3nema (Posts: 914; Member since: 14 Jun 2013)
Stop and think about how much Android copied from iOS before you go throwing that around. Android was a BlackBerry ripoff before Google started ripping features from the iPhone and predecessors to the iPhone. Almost nothing Android does is new or original. WM, iOS, and MeeGo/Symbian provide the basis for modern Android.
12. tedkord (Posts: 4702; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
And we've been hearing about what an awful thing that is for years now. Suddenly, when Apple releases an entirely new design that is 100% copied from other sources, and copying is OK. That's hypocrisy.
17. Napalm_3nema (Posts: 914; Member since: 14 Jun 2013)
I'm not saying anyone is right for claiming so, but in the same way, nobody has any moral high ground to call "copycat." Yes, even Windows Phone has derivative features.
47. InspectorGadget80 (Posts: 6399; Member since: 26 Mar 2011)
just say that everyone copied from everyone and there's nothing we the consumer can't do bout it when it comes too law suits

The keyboardless form factor wasn't invented by apple either, but whatever. It isn't as if a palm lifedrive had that same form factor, and there was an android prototype form factor that was full screen.

i think android was a complete copy of symbian remember
13. darkkjedii (Posts: 11088; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Android was inspired by iOS, deny it all you want. Even project butter was instituted to smooth and polish in iOS fashion. That's not a bad thing either, all these OS's were inspired by iOS, after it set the mobile industry on its ear in 07'. Apple did get comfy, and cozy allowing others, namely android to catch up and pass it in some areas. Now apples back to work, and the best is yet to come.
28. Bootutu (Posts: 184; Member since: 11 Jul 2013)
And you are saying iOS is completely original?, wasn't inspired by anyone?, just popped out of thin air?, bravo blind iSh33p, you do realise there was smartphones with grid icons, touch gesture controls, app/game store, and whole other services before the iPhone right? Apple copied just about eveyone and put together a phone to call it the iPhone ...your kind of idiotic comments makes people hate Apple even more.
The phone revolution was gonna happen inevitably with or without Apple, they just happen to come out at the right time to claim glory, nothing Apple does is original, get over it....
34. darkkjedii (Posts: 11088; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
I was never under it, I'm not an idiot or sh€€p either. I never said iOS wasn't inspired, I clearly said android was iOS inspired. I also don't give a rats a$$ how much people hate apple, I love em. Good day to you

Truer words have never been spoken. People forget that android was inspired by iOS. They also forget that android is based on Linux.
53. johnbftl (Posts: 190; Member since: 09 Jun 2012)
Yes, I'm pretty sure people forget Android was inspired by iOS because that is an absolute falsehood. Android was first designed in 2003, four years before Apple announced the iPhone and iOS. I'm pretty sure no one that is this involved in mobile industry to be on Phone Arena daily and commenting doesn't know Android is Linux based.I'm pretty sure some can even name the Linux kernel it's modeled after, Apache.
You're precious company didn't inspire Andy Rubin and his team to create the OS, nor did Google create it to rival Apple. Google didn't even purchase the company until two years into design process.Mind you, two full years still before Apple had announced anything.
What blind Apple followers seem to forget is that at its core, iOS is Unix based. A simple application launcher. Nothing more. Not a true operating system. A simple product for simple minded people.

The first Android version, i.e. Android 1.0 was even code-named Apple Pie!
66. sum182 (Posts: 229; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
I dont get how you can say Project butter was iOS inspired...Because you want a smooth OS, means you want it to be like iOS....really? They just wanted to smooth some things out...You make it sound like nothing was smooth untill iOS. I stand by the only thing apple did was use a capacitive (spelling?) screen correctly. For that i respect them. But even the app store...is just linux software center remade, and same with googles. But google doesn't tout their crap around like their god for making it. Everything's (besides MS) made and based off Unix....EVERYONE respect and give Unix the appreciation is deserves.

95% of app developers are working to update for iOS 7, so I'm sure the icons will be changed to fit.
11. appleDOESNT.com (Posts: 430; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
the blurry frosty glass transparency look is dizzying and the colors are straight out of a bad Android theme. I call BS on this, Apple had one thing going familiarity and ease of use, people don't like change, and this is the ugliest change I have ever seen.
iOS7 will hurt apple, just like a plastic iPhone will and the fact that Apple has no identity without Jobs. At least under Jobs they stood for quality, now they stand for what, flashy, cheap and oh so mediocre?

At 00:56 everyone with android phones get out now hilarious. Only like 3-4 people left, very creative but over the top. You do have talent dude
27. appleDOESNT.com (Posts: 430; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
thanks, lol, i always that that vid would of done better actually. I mean I took Jobs "Vow to destroy Android" quote and twisted it so beautifully in that parody. iThink my fav line was "Lost to Microsoft in WWi and losing to Google in WWii" lol
37. darkkjedii (Posts: 11088; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
I loved it, once again you're very talented. Are you a film student, or something? Your vid was flawless dude. Guys click his link fanboy or not, the vid is funny and well done.
38. appleDOESNT.com (Posts: 430; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
Nope, that all was inspired by Steve Job's ridiculous "vow to destroy Android if it costs me 40billion of Apples money" quote. I mean that guy was great and passionate but that quote rubbed me wrong.
When I came up with it, the funniest Hitler rant at the time was Hitler banned from Xbox Live. I also did a less funny Steve you really didn't invent anything vid that is linked to that parody in the vid response section.
39. darkkjedii (Posts: 11088; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Great work, I just watched again. "Target every f'ing nuke at google rite now" classic dude. I'm still not a sith either lol.

Did you notice my Star Wars quotes? 2 of them, in fact, all my quotes are referenced in the description section of the video :)

Yes, this will be a day long remembered lol awesome. You're gonna piss off some hardcore apple enthusiasts, but I have a great sense of humor. Funny is funny, and that vid is flat out funny. +1

darkk... you cool with me man but this trying to be cool on both sides act is pretty lame...
i saw the video, what would make you think he's in film school? the video is already put together and used to mock all types of controversial events, all he did was add text to the voice like thousands of other people do... smh. Dude only has two video uploads and the second one is just a text copy of the first.
Don't see how people can wake up every morning get dressed just to hate on a thriving business all day. I can see if android/google is paying him to do it but he only has 10,000 views so that lets you know he's wasting his time.
the video is funny but you are overly crediting this guy.
It's not a "must see" you're just helping the flames rise in here.
"i loved it, once again you're very talented" lmfao... smh drop the buddy buddy act man.
63. darkkjedii (Posts: 11088; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
G2G I don't choose sides bro, to me tech is tech. I have absolutely no reason to dislike that guy, cuz he dislikes apple. I don't know him, never met him, and probably never will. I also didn't know the source of his work, that's why I asked. PA is a tech site, but this is also social networking. I enjoy chatting with people from all over the globe, apple and google ate both big greedy companies. Let the fanboys choose sides, I choose to be cool with people, not make enemy's of them. What has he personally done to me, to where I shouldn't be cordial with him cuz he chooses android. Him and I argue all the time about tech. And what he did does take talent
64. darkkjedii (Posts: 11088; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
I do see your point too, about attacking thriving businesses. That's why I'm a techie, not a fanboy. I understand that all this stuff is simply big business in motion. Apple google Sammy, and the rest simply want our consumer cash, but fanboys from both sides think they're loyalty makes the better than the other. Sh€€p from camp android, are no different than sh€€p from camp apple, moto, Nokia etc. that's one of many reason I don't choose sides and I use multiple OS's.
65. good2great (Posts: 1039; Member since: 22 Feb 2012)
that's why i respect you so much here man...
there's more people here like you (nonfanboy) but most just keep quiet to avoid the arguments.
but to stay on topic :-) I'm looking forward to iOS 7 and pleased with the way apple runs its cell phone business. no matter what model iphone you have you are still able to enjoy what the OS brings... yes some bells and whistles aren't available due to lack of hardware in old models but i feel it doesn't force apple users to upgrade... at my job (ATT) there are people that still use the 3gs or iphone 4. I have the 5 but we all still share the same experience in iOS.
I'm no fanboy but i'm pleased with Samsungs progression as well and like android as a whole. Looking to purchase the Nexus 7... i use my iPad strictly for business/photoediting/email but android brings the top specs for use in other categories that i'm interested in. and its so much easier to get your hands on some software because its so open.
Do you have the beta version of iOS 7 currently on your device?
68. darkkjedii (Posts: 11088; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
No my friend has it. I use it a lot, and love it. I want the final release though. What about you?
69. darkkjedii (Posts: 11088; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
The new nexus 7 has my interest too. It's that, the full size ipad5, or the new mini. I have an iPad 3 rite now, works great but its about two years old and pretty dinged up. Want something newer looking
72. appleDOESNT.com (Posts: 430; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
Truth be told I went to buy a iPad 1, with $550 in my pocket ready to spend... When I went to the apple store and saw the pitiful 1024x768 display it was a deal breaker for me... iPad Mini was also on my radar too, yet again, another rushed product with a terrible display resolution. Yes, both iPad 1 and Mini 1 are rushed products. The first was to start the market first and the mini was to stop the bleeding of all the 7" Androids. Neither iPad1 or Mini 1 are acceptable with those resolutions. And iPad 2 was even more insulting repeating the resolution and mediocre specs. iPad 3 is a nice tab and iPad 4 is another bilk against iFollowers.
See you guys see nothing but hate from me, nah, it is NOT random hate, every thing iHate about apple they earned with their highest of high margins, low to mediocre technology and to top that off, year after year incremental upgrades and S monikers designed to just rape their iFollowers into owning 5 iPads in less than 4 years costing nearly $2800 if you own all 5 eventually... and iFollowers do just that :(
70. appleDOESNT.com (Posts: 430; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
the videos are just for fun. Nobody paid me, in fact, if you don't think Steve Jobs woke up every moment thinking how he could destroy Android, unjustly mind you, they are a competitor, deal with it Steve, maybe you can understand why I made a couple videos poking fun at the most ridiculous statement a head of a company could possible make!
71. appleDOESNT.com (Posts: 430; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
"I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong, I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this." ~Steve Jobs
Who's the lame fanboy now? Steve that's who!
20. appleDOESNT.com (Posts: 430; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
i always give opinions and reasons why apple sucks or makes mistakes, as i see them, i do not flail without a purpose... my opinions are valid and reasonable and always detailed...
iOS7, going cheapo and the death of Jobs, will be the end of Apple. They simply are not compelling anymore and only iFollowers cannot see the narrow vision through apple's eye

This is kind of a "duh". Anything that is new, but not fully out people want just so that they can say that they have it and their device is unique.
Once it comes out to all devices this poll should be retaken.

most people voting probably didn't actually try iOS7 - aka having a dev. account or downloading it illegally. Just my opinion, but iOS7 looked awesome when I watched the conference and in apple demos & the webs BUT in reality it was terrible, I have the latest version on an iPhone and it is overhyped with "android-ish" features and in my opinion is not that great...
also, they don't let you easily go back to iOS6...
32. regkilla (Posts: 83; Member since: 13 Sep 2012)
Can't wait for the official release of iOS 7
