I think you mean
"Who introduced notifications first .. Microsoft in Windows Mobile 2003?"
Or Symbian in S60v3....
The same as the drop-down swithes. They were introduced first on the Nokia N9 (Meego Harmattan) and then 'copied' to Symbian Belle (to remain within the same developper). In the mean time ALL previous generation S^3 phones are equipped with Belle while only a small portion of Android devices actually has 4.0 (ICS) let alone 4.1 (JB).
The fact is they all rip features from each other. Actually it just doesn't matter. As long as the devices get better for customers. Okay, Apple takes the most time to give features to their customers but eventually they'll get there.
So As is said before: Apple, Welcome to 16 June 2010 :-) Glad you finally made it!

I would have to say that my favorite new feature with the new IOS 6 is the new Maps applaction. The reason is becasue with having an android the turn by turn navagation is one of the best features. SO far apples verison is just not cutting it, but the new IOS 6 to me seems to stump adroid fianlly :))))

90% of these comments are from android users. I bet it's like 2% of these guys actually has jelly bean on their phone.
You guys can hate all you want on iOS 6. I bet when it comes out you will still be waiting for a jelly bean update

could be, but I have JB running on 3 android devices. Even my Captivate is real nice...strikercho = quezdagreat

its not a official update so it don't count
164. networkdood (Posts: 4748; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
well, Apple may call iOS6 and update, striker, but it is not....lol

I guess for iOS users, thats a pretty substantial update.
Its still just a huge list of "catch up" items that Android has had for quite a while. Kinda puts em on Android 2.2 maybe.
Dont worry guys.. one day you will catch up... to Android 2.3 :)

Just as the majority of Android devices is still on Gingerbread.
Godamn Google, you should persuade handset makers a bit more to push out these fracking ICS/JB upgrades

During the past 10 years, with the possible exception of iPhone 2007, Apple has never, ever tried to play the hardware spec race game or be the first to add new features. This is despite the fact other than Samsung who manufactures everything, Apple is untouchable in supply chain due to its vast amount of cash.
Before iPod there were 10000 MP3 players, before iPad there were 10000 tablet computers. The first iPhone also missed many features other phones had at the time. It did not matter because Apple made sure every new thing added to their product worked flawlessly and correctly.
4" screen without really increasing phone size - Do you really believe with all the cash Apple has it can not do a 5"+? I have a Galaxy Note and I totally understand the appeal of big screens, but my wife uses iPhone + iPad. On the road she has a much more portable device for light browsing/app usage, for everything else iPad still blows the Galaxy Note away in screen size pleasure. If Samsung had any success in tablets, it would not create a phablet, it is two devices in one, but don't kid yourself, it is not as good as iPhone as a phone, and it should not even be compared to iPad as a tablet
LTE - Battery was always a problem, my ATT note runs out of battery so quickly in LTE mode and there is no way to turn it off. I am sure Apple's implementation will solve this problem with new generation LTE chips despite a smaller battery. Also Apple did not bother with LTE because so few carriers had it, it is rarely ever the company to push technologies with flaws like this, until it is ready.
NFC - I don't know why Apple will even consider this, there are very few places that actually have this, see LTE. Unless they are pushing their own proprietary payment method, I don't see why they would even bother.
Navigation - We will see how well Apple's navigation stacks up against Google's. It is not who did what first and when, it is how well it is actually done! The Google Navigation is nowhere near Navigon/Garmin's.

Map software, turn by turn directions, replying to a call with a message. Apple really went to town in the innovation department here...
Steve Jobs said it best when he said "We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas"
129. jove39 (Posts: 1124; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
right...new features for iOS...Android had all that...ever since!
132. shamatuu (Posts: 47; Member since: 02 Nov 2011)
really all of that and no new interface. they can add all the features they want but the fact is that we want a new interface for the OS and App store. all of those features are useless to me. Same old crap.

A recycled article to fuel fanboyism. well done PA.
137. lumialove (Posts: 75; Member since: 16 May 2012)
Well deep Facebook integration, turn by turn navigation is already present in existing lumias and Nokia city lens with other hardware features like hdmotion+ and pureview and loads of many firsts coming to wp8 which MS still has yet to announce.
142. Snoobab (Posts: 122; Member since: 07 Dec 2011)
Fuuuu replying to a call with a message? My 2007-era N95 could do this. Apple, always meeting the bar. Never pushing it.
145. networkdood (Posts: 4748; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
so, Apple sues Samsung for copying and yet, what is iOS 6?
147. networkdood (Posts: 4748; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
wait a sec...this is a recycled article...wow, PhoneArena is getting about as lazy as Apple now.
148. korean411 (Posts: 38; Member since: 04 May 2009)
facebook integration andriod somewhat has that siri knows sport siri launch app, well s voice already does that. reply a call with a message android already had that for a while now. turn by turn navigation. been out for a while.
all i can see that ios 6 did was basically improve or ad on certain parts. the newest thing that put in here is well but facetime over cell networks, the boarding pass and thats about it. putting images over email has been around for a while but apple put their own twist on it to set them apart from other competitors that is ok, but point being i thought thought apple was going to do more with their ios6 since that had a great amount of time since the iphone5 was coming out so late, kind of disappointed they didn't make the ios6 a big wow factor. as a person who loves and thrives on technology i disappointed. this means that i really to expect the iphone5 to steal the show. Reason being i believe in my own opinion apple has to come in with the times i know it is a little late but either way they have to flow with the times of technology in terms of hardware. i will watch closely. and i do hope they do announce more features for ios6 cause also in my opinion android os and samsung has set the standard.
ps i love technology and i have been following it for years. i am not an android fanboy nor an apple fanboy but a person who really loves technology. i had both phones the 4, the 4s, and now with the gs3 because android works well with my day to day life not because i hate apple it just my preference. so again as a technologist i will watch closing what apple has to offer on wed

I don't know but have you seen a doctor with an Android device? Don't think so! IPhone Rules!
213. epdm2be (Posts: 139; Member since: 20 Apr 2012)
Doctors, politicians, ceo's and lawyers make a s**tload of money. Since the iPhones are perceived as a status symbols in the generic consumer products market, they obviously buy iPhones. Like the majority of these people buy big luxury cars and live in posh villa's.
It doesn't mean that the iPhone is the right product for these people.
Some people are just stupid. Wealthy stupid but stupid nonetheless.

It's the price mostly why I don't look at apple devices and because I'm more a geeky user who likes to experiment stuff with his/her phone. I'd say that is a necessary update for iOS devices and it's nice to see that apple takes its' time to develop these things to their finest. Shame that even Galaxy Ace 2, which I happen to own, didn't have ICS on launch and there is no update available even now. But anyway, I'm happy with the custom roms which anroid community makes and my phone was still pretty good bang for the buck.
iDevices are mostly kind of premium products that cost way too much for many. For some reason, people are ashamed to tell that they don't want to or can't pay that much of a phone. There's nothing bad in that. I can't afford an iPhone and even if I could, I wouldn't want to spend that much cash to a phone. So the solution is: I'm happy with my android device! No need for a war.
195. iami67 (Posts: 300; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
Id like to see a list of all these new 200 features. From the few I seen it is just all features to make your phone more like an android. Are any of the new features actually new or just new to iphone.
196. iami67 (Posts: 300; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
After looking at all these again I have to honestly ask. When is google going to sue apple for copying now. The ditched google maps to have there own apps that do what google maps have always done. Why ditch it then Just to save you more money yet charge the customer more sayins its new and innovative. Ijoke

iPhone fans should read this comment by ex-Apple VP:
Then you will have the truth from someone who has been in Apple's executive suite.
They did not invent anything so they resort to patenting "slide to unlock", "rectangle with rounded corners", "bounce back effect", "word autocompletion" etc etc etc
Do any of these sound like major inventions or innovations to you?
That's why I dislike them. They want to limit out choices.

217. joejoe509 (Posts: 4; Member since: 28 Oct 2011)
Ummm. Just me or did Android already most of those features already? Toss in the lost Google Maps and the lost Youtube App and I think Android's got this one. Sorry Apple.
218. joejoe509 (Posts: 4; Member since: 28 Oct 2011)
My wife has the iPhone4 not the 4S. She's missing almost all of these "features". Way to update your phones, Apple.
