I'm running the outdated gingerbread 2.3.4 OS and I don't see why this iOS6 is so great. wow Apple your really re-inventing the wheel with this one huh?? Siri.... who gives a s**t or even uses that all the time anyway.. you look dumb talking to your phone. 3D maps!!! no s**t! more facebook integration, how fvcking integrated do you need to be!! all the other things aren't even worth noting. this sounds like it is made for a 13 year old. If my little cousin asks for advice with phones I'll tell her to get an iPhone. I'm going to keep my big boy phone and get a new one on July 9th (SGSIII for you newbies).

Just remember, the iPhone was originally designed to be used by ANYONE... whether they are 13 or 93. This is the greatest strength of their platform... its near-universal usability. In order to make a platform that super simple and easy to use, it is necessary to remove many smart productivity features that, although they are great tools for productivity and/or organization that are available in other existing platforms, are not commonly used features among mobile users. Android went through a similar process in the begining with the HTC G1 for T-Mobile, just not to quite the extreme that the iPhone had to go through in its first iteration.

FaceTime for 3G... this is a big step up for any 3G phone user in the US, but this is just catching up to even Nokia's 3G featurephones for European networks circa 2005. Although this is great for folks in the US, who have never been able to video chat directly over North American 3G networks before this to my knowledge, this is probably nothing big or different for Europe aside from having more modern front-facing camera tech and resolution.
I do have one major question, though... seeings the original iPhone was effectively crippled when iOS 3.x was pushed to it, and the iPhone 3G was effectively crippled when iOS 4.x was pushed to it, primarily due to the added feature complexity of newer iterations of iOS trying to run on older hardware (slower processors and less RAM than the newer iPhones), will the iPhone 3GS have to have iOS 6.x pushed to it seeings iOS 5.x did not succeed (as per the continuing successful sales figures for the iPhone 3GS at AT&T) at effectively crippling the iPhone 3GS as completely as the prior end-of-life updates had done to older iPhones?
If the iPhone 3GS had stopped at iOS 4.x, I would probably have felt okay about getting one at some point if I had ever gotten the means to do so... then again, perhaps it is a good thing I couldn't do that back when I was really considering the possibility.

iOS6, now more like Android 2.2 :D :D
seriously, it's not an OS update, it's just a siri update, even an update to nova launcher adds more 'features'.
On the flipside, atleast you sheep get better maps, better phone screen, in other words, as much as an update as 2.3.4 to 2.3.6

Not a single feature in this list that cannot already be found on an Android phone at your local store TODAY! Also very happy that people keep buying iPhones and iPads because if forces the other vendors to do BETTER than apple just to succeed. I for one am all for better products and thankful for the loons that shell out full price for a brand new iphone with 10% improved performance / features. Woot! Go Apple! Make that money!!!

It's funny how the majority of these comments are Andriod users bashing on iOS and Apple and there is not a lot of actual discussion on the actual updates.
I think a lot of these updates will be very useful for iOS users. I'm looking forward to the update this fall. :)

Yes it is, I think basically because they are secretly bored with Android and want to see what other makers are offering. A true saying in my homeland is, "You made your bed now lay in it". You bought a mass produced Android handset that was your choice - live with it! It's just a phone!

i like apple but dang how are they getting away with essentially taking away from android what makes android android.

iOS 6 = boring!!! Nothing out the ordinary.
iOS 6 until fall??? just to get a few app remakes???
I think tonight I’m jailbreaking my iPad 2 for the first time to really spice things up a little bit.

What I am wondering, is how long it is going take Apple to turn around and start suing all of the Android makes for copying all of their new iOS 6 feature.

The real trouble is that someone designs something and others copy it.
That is why all cars have 4 wheels, a windscreen and wiper blades. The same comparison with patents they have a longevity of a few short years. I think we all hate this fighting be it Samsung or be it Apple - this is the world we live in.
Imagine this fight going on with the aeroplane. You cant use wings because I have the patent - stupid is it not! No! money talks louder than sense.

I have used "reply with text" feature on various phones for many many years.
Good for iPhone users, they have got this feature at last.

guys theres a reason why the 4S was the best-selling mobile phone and the 4 was second of 2011. The iphone is an AMAZING phone no matter what any troll says. apple doesnt have to change s**t yo the ios, they'll still make millions off of the iphone.

I agree the iPhone is liken to a Ferrari, it may not have all the gimmicks such as glaring lights and wannabe seen sounds. They raved about Microwave ovens until Lightwave came in. The iPhone meets a niche market who look at build quality. What I do not like about android is the shear volumes of app updates to accommodate all the other Android phones. My observations is that I get 7 Android updates for apps to perhaps one of IOS. Most of the Android app updates deal with bugs for this or that handset. Very few of the Android App updates actually add additional functionality except the basics like Google Maps, Whatsapp. So every time an Android user points a finger I tend to discount what they say because they do not have an IOS device to compare it with (and not just that I have used one for a day or two).
Some comments about data plans for iPhone/iPad get my goat - change your carrier and get to know your settings (turn off updates until you are in a wi-fi spot then download them).
To those who say IOS 6 is boring just remember you have a limited life on this planet and there are better things to do with your time like having fun - you do know what that is?
I hate the Apple/Android penis envy because both meet a need - It seems as if the Android users are into consumerism far more. I know they hate Apple users because we will queue all night to get the first new Apple item and they just see Apple on TV more than their brand but please remember Android is mass market, Apple is niche market - those that can afford it and are use to its continuity.
I never see them haggle Blackberry or Nokia, I wonder why? Do they feel superior above those makes with Android? Each to his station in life I suppose!

Way to come off as a pompous ass. The issue that most Android users have with iPhone users is the fact that you guys actually think having an iPhone makes you a better person.. as if toting one makes you gods gift. Get off your high horse get your phone out of your ass and realize a piece of metal/glass/tech doesn't make you any better than anyone else. I've personally used both iPhones and Androids for extended amounts of time IOS IS JUST SO BORINNGGGG. One major thing your wrong about.. iPhone isn't a niche market.. its for the masses that's why its so simple.. easy to use.. made for kids to elders and everyone between. "those that can afford it and are use to its continuity" -get your head out of your ass seriously, compare prices don't go prancing around comparing iPhones to Cricket phones. Compare high end to high end.

No matter how Android fans hate Apple every now & then - iOS is successful in providing the Best Experience in using the smartphone. PS: I do have both gadgets and both OSes are doing good on their own ends. 200 features needs not to be HUGE all the time. some little tweaks makes a difference too. See about 100 of them herehttp://techzoom.org/ios-6-list-of-all-the-new-features/

It always depends on one's own definition of "Best Experience", and that definition is never exactly the same for each and every person. Thanks to extreme simplicity and elegance, iOS often takes the cake for the mainstream user, but there are plenty of folks who are better served with extra capabilities not found in iOS, and thus Android or even WP can actually be better for their purposes. Yes, it does indeed happen that way from time to time...

you mean provide the best experience to the technically challenged

The thing that really infuriates me about this is that average consumer will be eating out of apple's hand...again. There are people out there who will really think this glorified app-launcher is actually the most advanced OS out there when really apple is still playing catch-up with android

Got Flash. Woops forgot we are talking about Apple.
