Very exciting news; iPhone users have been waiting months for this. Now only if my GD Droid Pro would get freaking Gingerbread!!

It's okay, I think I might get the 4S Friday anyway...

msa1988 you have an Android phone.

You can do whatever you want!!

You can install ANY version of Android you want. Via custom roms! There are zillions of them!

And because you got Android - you can do almost anything with it! Widgets, live wallpapers, zillion other tweaks and things that iOS will NEVER have.

iOS 5? Give me a break..

Oh no, android on our iphone? That means our iphones would now be laggy and choppy. Lol.

if your phone was using a capable OS and not a glorified app list and launcher, it would be choppy already. :)

Hi Hawk. I'll admit that with Froyo my Droid X wasn't the smoothest at all, and feedback from others on the Atrix prior to Gingerbread was similar. But since both have Gingerbread now they both run smooth as butter.

Except today I'll probably be shutting off the X permanently. It had a good run, but there's no sense in paying for two phone bills at once. You served me well, X. I'll never forget you. :(

Do you know what an OS entails? At a basic level what else is an OS supposed to do beyond providing an intermediary between hardware to support applications?

I will never take you seriously again since you're saying the atrix runs smoothly. I just got rid of the phone and I use every custom rom possible, there is no way in hell your atrix runs smooth.

*thinks about it* Yep, Atrix runs smoothly. Smooth as silk. Of course, if I end up running like five things at once that all chew up my RAM that might not be the case. But yeah, I run stock Motoblur and Gingerbread and my Atrix runs just fine.

I don't know why you had problems with yours. But don't dismiss my experience simply because it's better than yours.

Then I don't know what the hell you were doing to your Atrix, because mine runs awesome. I am being dead serious here.

I've been rooting and modding android phones longer than you have owned one. The phone is jerky at best. Not a very good standard for android.

Lol! Hey lay off the iOS 5 update. With iMessages, notifications, voice act... Uh Siri (Hopefully), this is gonna make my iPad much more feature rich! Like my Droid! :) iOS fans may not want to admit it would make it more like Android, but it's true. But I ask my fellow iOS users, what is so bad about incorporating some of the features that makes Android so great? They way I see it, adding these Android features are the best thing since Apple added MMS! Now if only they would add some of Android's customization...
